Two days had passed since then and in those two days, Yue Dongmei woke up a few times every day before eventually going back to sleep once again to recuperate.

While Yue Dongmei was recuperating, Yun Ling stayed at her side the whole time while cultivating in silence. He did make sure to spend time with his daughter though since Yun Xia was his main priority in everything he was going to do.

He oversaw Yun Xia and the children's cultivation while making them cultivate with him inside the room. After a few hours of cultivating session, he would then let Yun Xia and the children go out and play while Snow Fang and Yun Feng watched over them.

"Ahh, hmm..."

Yun Ling gave the sleeping Yue Dongmei a strange look when he heard the latter letting out a moan causing him to be distracted in his cultivation.

A few seconds later, Yue Dongmei opened her eyes as she sat up.

She felt tired all over her body. It wasn't because she hadn't recuperated yet. It was because she had slept too much that she was fatigued.

"Where am I?" Yue Dongmei asked when she noticed that she was no longer in her room that she had grown accustomed to in the clan compound.

"We are in the Great Buddhist Monastery," Yun Ling answered.

"Great Buddhist Monastery?" Yue Dongmei muttered to herself. "Isn't that the subsidiary sect of the Dharma Monastery in the lower realm?"

Yun Ling raised a brow when he heard that.

"So you and Xiaxia are indeed from the Ethereal Realm."

"Yes. Didn't you already suspect that since a while ago?" Yue Dongmei said. No matter how careful she and her young miss was, she was sure that Yun Ling noticed something that would give them away. Besides, Yun Ling already told her that he knew they were from the upper realm when he confronted her for the second time.

"I did," Yun Ling said. "Though Xiaxia was always careful not to leak out anything, she's still a kid and it's normal for her to mess up from time to time. In fact, I'm quite surprised how good she was at hiding the fact that you guys are from the Ethereal Realm."

There was pride in Yun Ling's face when he talked about his daughter to Yue Dongmei which made the latter smile.

"You are a good father," Yue Dongmei said, greatly surprising Yun Ling.

'Where did that come from?'

"No, I'm not," Yun Ling admitted shamefully. "The fact that I wasn't with her for five years in her life showed just how shitty I am as a father."

Yue Dongmei frowned. It would indeed seem that Yun Ling wasn't a good father since he was absent in most of the little girl's life, however, it wasn't really Yun Ling's fault. The fault lied on her mistress for not informing Yun Ling that he had a daughter.

"That's not true," Yue Dongmei said softly. "You didn't know you have a daughter."

"That might be so but ultimately, this is my fault. If in the first place, I hadn't slept around like I did in the past, none of this would've happened."

After saying that, Yun Ling exhaled deeply. Just thinking of what his daughter had experienced in the first five years of her life without him there made Yun Ling ashamed of just how much he was lacking as a father.

"It's true that none of this would've happened if you didn't sleep around."

"But at the same time, Young Miss wouldn't be born."

Yun Ling's eyes widened upon hearing that.

While Yun Ling was surprised, Yue Dongmei continued speaking, "Because of your debauchery in the past, Young Miss was born. Though your actions weren't good, and my mistress suffered because of it, in the end, Young Miss' presence did bring my mistress happiness greater than anything she had ever experienced before."

Yun Ling narrowed his eyes when he heard that Yun Xia's mother had suffered from his actions. He kept that in mind as he continued listening to Yue Dongmei.

"It's the same for Young Miss... she didn't have a good childhood and she experienced a lot of hardships in the past... but she did experience happiness despite that. And now that she finally met the father that she had been wanting to meet so much before, Young Miss is happier than ever before."

"What do you mean by that?" Yun Ling asked with a grave tone. "Xiaxia didn't have a good childhood? She experienced a lot of hardships in the past? Can you tell me more about that?"

"..."

Yue Dongmei was silent for a long while as she contemplated something. Meanwhile, Yun Ling didn't disturb her as he remained silent at the side, waiting for her to speak up.

Finally, Yue Dongmei said, "I will tell you how I met my mistress and how I became her aide. I will also tell you about Young Miss' life in the Ethereal Realm."

Yun Ling went serious and focused all his attention on Yue Dongmei after hearing that.
