《Celestial Magus》Chapter 39 : Loot and The Council

Robert looked at the loot in front of him, The bounty from today's hunt as well as the assassin lay on the table.
First, he took one of the daggers that the assassin had, its handle was made of gold, with intricate design work, its blade was made of some type of steel, but he couldn't even spot a single scratch in this dagger. It was either that this dagger was really sturdy or that it had never been used before.
Robert took the dagger and thrust it into a wall,
~Ca-Ching~
The dagger went in halfway into the wall. Robert had to exert some force and even give leverage with his leg to get the dagger out of the wall, but when he took it out, the blade was still shining like new, there was not even a scratch in the dagger that bore a hole through the dark rock that made the mansion.
Robert smiled and put the dagger down, then he took a look at the other possessions of the assassin. There were a few golds and a spirit stone in the pockets of the assassin, but what caught Robert's eye was a pouch, this empty looking pouch had a strange magical energy about it.
Robert took it and examined its exterior, noting nothing special he tried to empty it into the table, but instead of his expectations, which were gold or spirit stones, what fell into the table was a giant sword. five times the length of the pouch itself.
Robert was once again amazed at the difference between his and this world. This pouch somehow had a mechanism to constrict space, he smiled and looked into the pouch but could only see pitch blackness. He was still feeling that strange magical power from the pouch like it was beckoning him. He tried to pour a bit of magic power into it and suddenly his eyes widened, there was a space, almost a meter in width and height inside the sack.
Robert was able to see the contents of the sack in his consciousness, he could see an assortment of items inside the sack, some scrolls, another dagger, many day-to-day items. He put his hands into the sack and tried to grab the dagger. to his surprise, the dagger just materialized into his hand just as he put his hand in.

"Whoa!"
Although the Robert that had lived in this world for about three weeks managed to accept what just happened, Robert, the physicist still scratched his head to find a logical reasoning behind it. He theorized that if the pouch constricted not just space but also time, it would still be within the realm of theoretical physics.
Glancing through the contents of the pouch, Robert put the dagger into it and tucked it away in his pocket. This pouch was too valuable to lose.
He then poured the blood he had collected into some crystal jars and locked them into a shelf.
Now he had to get rid of his responsibilities when he took over the town, he had expected some work that came with it, but he really underestimated the quantity. And the old town council was disbanded when the town lord stepped down.
This man was not particularly happy with it and had made it so that Robert would have a hard time getting the city up and running.
There were about 7 people around the big dining table of the town hall. It was on the ground floor of the two-story building. Walking into the building, Robert saw that the hall wall still had a giant black dragon banner adorning it.
He should really rebrand the town, Robert thought. But it was too much work and he already had enough work that he didn't want to take this up now.
Seeing him walk into the hall, the men and women around the table stood up in respect. Smiling nervously Robert gestured them to sit down. The dreaded stage fright that he had in his previous life now resurfacing.
He remembered about the time he had to present a report in front of a crowd, and how he had totally flunked it. But that was the old Robert he has now changed.
Robert took a deep breath and exhaled it, then walked to the lonely tall chair at one side of the table.
Robert sat down and glanced at the members that had gathered there.
The man who sat first to his right was about forty-five years old, the skin in his receding hairline reflected the bright light from the orb above. A trimmed salt and pepper beard and chiseled face gave this man a stern look. Wearing a metal armor this man headed the town guards. His name, Reginald Wallace. He couldn't participate in the Goldfair city attacks as he was already occupied by the responsibility of protecting Greyston and forming backup plans.

Next to him sat Nenand, this man, about 30 years old, was the subhead of the city guards and had played a major role in organizing the militia for the Goldfair attack. He had been requested by Robert to be here, and his excitement was clear on his face.
"Let's start the council?"
The source of the question was the man in his left, about fifty years old, this man with his scholarly appearance wouldn't stand out in a crowd in any manner. He was the head of the previous city council, and played the role of an assistant to the town lord, making the town run smoothly and managing everything from behind the scenes.
Robert nodded.
Lloyd Brock, the man who spoke before introduced the city council to Robert.
After introductions and understanding what each of the member's roles, Robert shooted questions one after another at the council members and gained various information about the town and many of this information were bad news.
Greyston, being a mining and blacksmithing town, was polluted. The air was filled with dust and smoke, the water in the wells was polluted, and many men were sick. Many had abandoned the town to go to cities, but those who were stuck here had build houses in the edges of the town, making as much as distance as they can from the smoke and pollutants of the smithies.
Robert stared at the Black Dragon banner on the wall, was this why Sophie gave the town to him so eagerly? the living condition of this place was really bad.
'that cant be it,' He shook his head and came back from the deep thoughts. He was sure that every single mining town in this world had the same problems, but he had to solve at least some of the major ones here.
Robert asked the members' opinion on how they can improve the town now that the dangerous times have passed.
"Peace is good for business!" The shrewd-looking man, the representative of the chamber of commerce spoke up, then he gave some of his ideas on how the commerce can be improved in Grayston.
The same went on with all the other departments, soon they began arguing how their department's project was more important than the other's and just as Robert was about to speak up and stop the arguments, a thick voice came up from his right.
"The peace times will be over soon,"
This one sentence was enough for the whole town hall that was bustling with arguments to become dead silent. Everyone in the room looked at the source of the sound, Reginald Wallace.
"There has been a regime change in the Holton Kingdom, the previous King was killed by his own son and is now the ruler"
He continued to describe the power-hungry Raul Artur to the council, although he was staring at a wall, he shot a quick glance in Robert's direction to see his expression.
Long story short, Almost every noble the Lorvale Kingdom was sure that the Holton Kingdom which was locked in with mountain ranges in two sides and forest in the third will invade Lorvale. The only delay for this impending invasion was that Raul hadn't yet accumulated the total control over Holton.
"Do you know when this invasion might happen?"
Robert asked Reginald, although he didn't expect an answer, he got one.
"worst case 3 months best case a year," After saying this, Reginald went back to his silence.
'3 months huh'
Robert's lips curved into a smile, then he said
"War is good for business,"

Mana Soul
Like many others across the multiverse, Markus was chosen as this world's hero to fight against the steadily approaching cataclysm. Only, something went horribly wrong. Left with only a handful of memories, Markus has spent years clawing his way up from poverty and officially registered as an adventurer to try and make his fortune. Unfortunately, Artificers are the least combat-capable class of the four classes, and Markus has no connections to join an established party. With the fate of countless worlds hanging in the balance, a chance meeting will determine the course of a war nearly as old as reality itself. Warning: Markus has trauma induced amnesia and will occasionally 'act out of character' or make 'poorly thought out' decisions. These events are rather obvously telegraphed abd represent conflicts between his current personality and the one repressed alongside his trauma. Just something to bear in mind. The story will bounce predominantly back and forth between the primary protagonists every couple of chapters. The time stream is linear, so events are not revisted/rehashed/retold through the narrative format. Characters may comment on something that has occurred, but that's different. Just giving a heads up.Chapters will be around 7-9k and updated 1/week on the same schedule as my other story Ogre Tyrant over the weekend.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

The FPD (Fart Police Department) The world’s norms and ethics have drastically shifted for the worse after an uncontrollable flatus outbreak absorbed the world’s inhabitant, causing major depopulation on a global scale. Conversely, to remedy the spread of this vulgar contagion, the Societal Gods who were partially indirectly responsible for causing the outbreak, implemented certain strict measures for the servile humans to follow. These strict policies were commonly known to the general public as Fart Commandments. Thou shall not relieve themselves in public without following the proper guided measures; thou shall not relieve themselves in private without adhering to the strict guidelines; each new-born and younglings should be taken to the nearest medical facility regularly for inoculation; loose bottoms shall not be tolerated at any governing venues and face-masks should always be worn appropriately. Failure to adhere to the above commandments would result in a mandatory life sentence without a court appeal or probation unless they are of influential births and have authoritative backers. In this twisted society which had been established today a model young female who adhered to the strict policies all of her life without questioning, accidentally broke one of the Fart Commandments and found herself entangled with a rebellious group of uncouth individuals who opposed the Societal Gods. To regain her innocence and social standing among the civil society, this young lady dared challenge the Societal God’s ruling by utilizing the absolute thing that they detested the most which were the destructive vapours of her flatus.
