《KEY to ABUSING the SYSTEM》Chapter 7 - Top of the class

One might ask why I was in such a rush to get a class and level up? After all most regular people over the course of there lives only manage to reach around level 15, unless they are either in the military or adventurers. Well, my particular problem was twofold. The first being that the merger between my soul and the pheonixian remnant would have released a small amount of its power and eventually either the dragons or the phoenixes will detect that and decide to investigate.
The other problem being the pheonixian remnant itself, because the wisdom that was bestowed was not without cost. I had to become stronger more rapidly than the remnant recovered it's power lest it take over my soul and body. I had to reach a point that I could produce a clone before it regained sentience. To further complicate matters that clone had to be an acceptable physical form for the soul to inhabit which bound my hand in regards to possible class choice.
The upside is that until that point I would be basically following the path the pheonixians had crafted for their return, granting myself every available benefit. Though I would never be able to become as powerful as the pheonixians themselves because my knowledge of the exploits stops at the clone technique.
Anyway, after spending the night sleeping in a bush, I emerged as the sunlight caressed my body. A new day was dawning, the birds were singing and I was scratching a million itches from the hundreds of bugs that decided I was the perfect late-night snack. I vowed then and there to never sleep out in the wilds without insect repellent ever again.
After rinsing my body with my handy friend magic I began crafting the circle for my class advancement. I could have attempted this at night but it was vastly more complicated than anything I had attempted before and I did not want to have to recollect the materials if I was to fail. The formation was a circle, inside a circle, inside a square, inside a six-pointed star made from two triangles, inside of a circle, inside of a triangle, With the whole formation covered in law runes and spell glyphs.
It took me six hours to complete the project before realising I had a problem. I had started drawing the formation from the centre and was thus on the outside when I needed to be in the centre to use it. Due to the complexity of lines, there was no available space for me to step my way into the centre either. After taking my frustrations out on a nearby tree while letting flow a torrent of insults, I erased it all and started again from the outside.
Why not just erase a part you ask? Because the shapes had to be drawn in one motion with any sections being broken resulting in a ritual failure. It was this part that made it take so long in the first place.

Thanks to the "practice" the second attempt only took two hours so just a the sun was casting shadows through the glade I completed the formation. Positioned in the centre in the now strangely comfortable lotus position I began the advancement. The ritual light up in a series of colours from gold to blue before levitating the dungeon core above my head. The two orbs of blood representing a dragon and a phoenix merged with the core turning it a brilliant crimson before it was liquefied and covered my body.
For the third second time since my rebirth, I was put through an excruciating physical change and just like gaining my stats and skills there was no escape. I truly believe the pheonixians must be masochists because almost everything I have done so far has resulted in unimaginable pain.
I awoke in the same glade I remembered, the only difference being that it looked like someone had painted the purple forest red. Blood covered everything and pooled on the floor. As I gazed at what looked like something out of a horror movie a message window drew my attention. The pale blue screen informed me that I had 8 stat points to distribute which made sense seeing that I somehow reached level four after leaving the cave though I did not recall how, and had double gains from the Bonded wreath of growth which would soon be reaching it's limit and need to be replaced. After applying my free points to luck I viewed my status window to see what other changes had happened.

Bonus skill experience
Well, it was no wonder I felt different because the class bonuses were crazy and my stats had exploded. Most class skills were considered equal to half a regular skill with common classes having one, rare classes having two and “legendary” classes having three. The classes the pheonixians created had 4 and each one was equal or better than a regular skill.
The end result of my exploits so far was that I was level 4 with stats that would make a level 20 blush and despite the fact, my wreath would expire in another level it had more than accomplished its job. I was literally three times stronger in an instant and despite how much stronger than that I am now I have never felt more powerful than I did at that moment. Physically I looked no different, I was still the same dashing, skinny blond-haired rogue I had been reborn as but now I could bench press a quarter tonne.
Like any other young man high on power, I did what came naturally upon seeing an active flight skill. two large ethereal wings of blue flame extended from my back and I soared into the air, or at least attempted to, only to get a face full of dirt. Turns out humans that have never had wings make for horrible birds. This humbling experience woke me up from my revelry as I realised such a massively powerful class change ritual could not have gone unnoticed. I quickly destroyed any remnants of the circle before fleeing deeper into the forest.
Two days of aimless wandering and multiple illusion changes later I emerged from the eastern side of the forest, essentially placing me back where I had exited the first time. After these two days, I understood how to control my newfound power despite the fact I was nowhere closer to learning how to fly. With my class sorted my next goal was to obtain some gold, silver and a large unprocessed mana crystal to create a piece of equipment to replace the wreath. It was not like I could use the dracon or elven currency either as both were simply plated iron not solid material.
Deciding this time to head towards an elven town I started wandering south. I spent a few more days travelling while surrounded by red cornfields and hard-working farmers. It was a boring trip that degraded from playing with the system into singing songs and eventually kicking stones down the road. The whole novelty of the new sights in a new world had worn off during my first trip to a town and even playing with magic had become a chore as I changed from whimsically floating a water orb around the place to forming the complex magical frameworks of spells that might save my life.
Magic was a strange thing with multiple paths to the same result. Where one person with enough strength of conviction, magical power and mana could form a spell just by willing something to happen another could achieve the same result with less power by forming a three-dimensional geometric spell model. Besides these options, there was also incantations, rituals, sacrifices and prayers.
The pheonixian method was using a combination of phoenix and law runes written in such a way as to form a circular disk. The spell would then be projected using the centre of the disk as a starting point. This meant using magic was like learning a textbook paragraph written in two different languages well enough to recall it on the fly. My only saving grace was a lot of standard spells came pre-recorded in my memory.
I did take the chance to study my surroundings along the way to recover from the mildly headache-inducing tasks. Almost everything visible along the road was either purple forest or red corn and even after crossing the border, apart from noticing that the farmers were now elves neither the farming method or the housing style was any different. There was no living in trees or talking to plants and I have to admit I was somewhat disappointed that the fantasy culture stereotype our race had depicted for these long-eared beings was completely wrong.
I expected as much after meeting the princess but I had hoped she was an outlier considering she was royalty. I found the elven town after almost two weeks of monotony. Unlike the dracon the elves seemed to work in a satellite society. Where the dracon have a decent-sized town every two or three days the elves have small hamlets consisting of only a few families scattered through the countryside with towns being few and far between.
The only gains from spending so much of my time on the road was an additional level from killing the occasional corn eating horned rabbit, having mastered the ability to glide over a distance of a dozen meters and discovering an anti-insect combination spell. Before you ask. No, I was not responsible for the destruction of the local food chain by exterminating every bug in the forest. I was only responsible for the three-kilometre death spheres created at every camping site.

Keys of the Endpoint
Keys of the Endpoint is an illustrated web serial about the re-birth of civilization in a fantastical world suffering from a recent apocalyptic event. Every day, people appear from the storms that ravage the Endpoint. Whisked away from their own time and place by storms in their homelands, these newcomers find themselves in a hostile place made up of ruins and people from every timeline imaginable. Stranger still, they all soon discover they're carrying silver keys that grant each holder incredible powers. On Earth, most people have mundane excuses for the disappearances, but not Isaac. Having lost his brother Finn to one of these storms, Isaac becomes obsessed with finding a pattern. Not to prevent more people disappearing, but rather to get taken by the storms himself in order to find his brother. While chasing Finn’s faint trail, Isaac soon discovers how little he really knew about himself, his brother and how much loss one person can take. In Keys of the Endpoint there's portal fantasy, personal drama, magic (useable by everyone), plenty of combat, power progression, mysteries, factions, feuds and eventually war (in that order). The magic system is well defined and modular with nigh infinite combinations. The story starts out with one of the two main characters looking for his lost brother but quickly expands in scope from that point on.
