Chapter 39
Eva Lemuria
This battlefield is a complete mess filled with chaos and death. I didn't except to run into my brother, but I must admit that I enjoyed seeing him in such a bad position with that female mage straddling him. Even though I have such a bad relationship with George I couldn't just let him be killed. So I saved him, but not without some teasing to piss him off. He still has this same eyes when he looks at me though. His eyes are filled with hatred and fear towards me.
“Why are you here? Why did you come back and not die?” George
“Because wether you like it or not this is my home. I was always planning on coming back and now is a good a time as any. I was in the dwarven capital when I got news about this war so I destroyed a good portion of the city then came straight here. I'm sure the city is in flames right now.”
After I say this loudly the dwarven soldiers around me here and go shocked before they speak to each other in the midst of their battles and then it spreads like a wildfire to almost every dwarf here. Soon they all know that a black haired human has burned down their home and is now here to finish them off. Soon countless soldiers look at me and charge, but the humans keep attacking them as the dwarves turn their backs. The one thing I am upset about is that the Lemuria soldiers are looking at me in equal fear and disgust, but as long as they leave me alone I can put up with these looks.
“Munin go and fight a little bit. I think those weaker looking dwarves can easily be killed by you, but I don't think you will be very successful fighting those with thicker armor, but you can try if you want.” Munin nods then shoot off as a black bolt of lightning towards the nearest dwarf and goes right through his chest before moving on. “Well, brother looks like you've become a lot stronger than before. I am sure you will try to kill me again at some point, but I hope you get over your own fear to realize who the enemy is today.”
I don't wait for his responds which would probably just be some angry yelling. I instead walk toward those two strong looking dwarves I saw earlier. The Lemuria soldiers were throwing themselves at them, but still haven't done much so its probably more important than the human and dwarf warrior pair fighting while destroying their surroundings. I spot the two dwarven mages and I am instantly disgusted by their nasty smirks as they look at the Lemuria soldiers attacking them with pure determination.
I use a flame step and shoot myself right at them like a arrow let loose. By the time they react I am already next to them and I swing my halberd at the water mage. His smirk quickly changes to a look of shock as he raises a water shield to block my attack. He succeeds in blocking my attack, but that was only an attack with without any mana at all to test him. I attack again except with a lightning edge. His annoying smirk had reappeared when he blocked my attack before, so I really want to cut off his head. This time my attack passes through his shield easily but a burst of flames pushes my attack at his shoulder and I cut of his arm.

“Ahhhhhhhh. My arm!” Dwarven Water Mage
“You bitch! We’ll kill you! Who the hell are you?” Dwarven Fire Mage
The fire mage runs to his friend and then burns his shoulder to seal the wound. I appreciate their friendship for a second before I charge with a destruction edge and try to kill them. Their faces really piss me off for some reason. My attack reaches them but they dodge at the last second and my attack destroys the ground behind them. I use a flame step to shoot my leg forward and kick the fire mage far away. I bring my halberd back around and attack the water mage again, but he jumps up and uses a blast of water to shoot my attack back and propel himself towards the fire mage. I shoulder my attack and slowly walk towards the two that are supporting each other. They each form a ball of their element and then slam them together creating a giant shroud of steam. Blades of fire and water both start attacking me from all directions so I simply through up my flame armor and the attacks do impact me, but they don't get through my defenses. I try to sense where the two mages are, but it seems like this entire cloud of steam is made out of magic and interfering. I guess I have to respect those two smirking mages for this spell, but they still have to die. I shift and go straight up out of the cloud. One I reach a suitable hight I unshift and then I gather lightning at the tip of my halberd and thrust it straight down. Black lighting rains down into the cloud of steam creating explosions where ever they land. I keep throwing attacks as I fall down until I hear a scream of pain so I land back into the mist. I flip my halberd around and form a lightning scythe and do a full rotation. My attack cuts through the entire cloud of steam and then it slowly disperses. I look around until I spot the fire mage on the ground with a charred wound on his chest and the water mage is above him. I do feel that if this was a fair duel I could be considered an honor-less cheater. Too bad this is war. I walk over to the water mage and he looks at me with fear and his usual smirk is nowhere to be seen so I quickly cut his head of to be done with it.
With that done I look towards me next target and see those two warriors are still going at it. Once again I shall ignore honor and respect by intruding on their fight. Too many Lemuria soldiers are dying and I am sure any second the dwarves true powerhouses will show up to join this war. I dash straight at the dwarven warrior with a destruction spear aimed at his back. I thought I for sure had him, but he dodged out of the way and my attack collided with the other warrior's weapon and pushes him back. So I chase the dwarven warrior throwing destruction edge after destruction edge at him. The landscape that was being damaged before is now completely destroyed since I joined this fight and I can tell the dwarven warrior wont be able to keep up under the pressure for much longer. I instantly shift to his side and stab at him with a destruction spear but he deflects it, but I follow through with the attack and shift again so my attack hits him. He doesn't block this time and his arm and the side of his body is blown away. He is still alive, but will definitely bleed out in a matter of seconds so I stab my halberd into his head for a quick death. The human warrior looks at me in anger.

“Why would you interfere in our fight? There was no honor in a win like that. He was as worn out as I was! Who are you?” Human Warrior
“Eva Lemuria. Remember this is a war, not a duel. Kill them wether they're weak or strong.”
His shocked face tells me he understands who I am and that there's no way he can continue this argument with me. So I turn away from and charge at the next target. While running I notice Munin appear back on my shoulder and she looks tired so I let her take a break as I slaughter the dwarven soldiers one after the other with simple mana edges. I kill and kill as my feelings to the death and blood become numb. I will slaughter these weaklings until the big players come out and then I will slaughter them. I will protect my kingdom
After a good half hour of slaughtering a change finally happens. As I cut down another dwarven soldier a blot of lightning blasts me from the side and It was strong enough that if I didn't have my flame armor up I would have definitely died. I look over and see a dwarven warrior with black armor on and multiple spikes sticking out of the armor. The spikes all look like mana beast horns. The entire armor is covered in lighting running up and down it and he is clearly a powerhouse. The warrior has a weird weapon that looks like a sword except it has two spikes instead of a blade and there's lighting running between them. I increase the density of my flame armor and form a thick lightning edge. We gauge each other before both of us charge at each other.
Our weapons interlock and stray bolts of lightning fly everywhere around us as we try and push each other back. It takes all the strength in my arm to hold against this guy as he uses both hands to push his weapon forward. I throw his weapon to the side and kick his side with a flame step that explodes on contact launching him a couple of steps back, but he just points his weapon straight at me and I can now tell why he uses those spikes as a weapon as I jump to the side just in time to avoid a blast of energy. It seems he stole a mana beasts raw mana blast concept and used it for himself. If I had my right arm out it would have been blasted off from that attack. I feel excited for this fight now. I know I am fighting a war right now, but this fight is just what I need to push myself froward. Either I will die from this fight or I will become stronger than before. I release a massive firestorm that surrounds both of us and blocks the view from everyone else out side the fire storm. I reach over to pull half my robe off my shoulder and then undo the harness holding my right arm. I clench and unclench my arm before switching my halberd over to it. I can't tell what kind of reaction my opponent has because of the full body armor, but it does not matter.
I once again charge at him and he points his weapon at me as I shift. I appear right in front of him and stab my halberd between the two spikes on his weapon. I then shoot my other hand with my dagger towards his head, but he tilts his head and then grabs my wrist. I feel my entire body is being shocked before I shift away. As I unshift I cough a little blood from the my internal injuries and I pull down my mask because its soaked in blood now. I haven't felt the pain from a fight like this in a while so I am excited. I need to get stronger to defeat those lizards so I will use this person as a stepping stone. I charge again with a destruction spear. He points his weapon at me again so I use a flame step to launch myself forward. Instead of locking our weapons I kick his weapon to the side as it releases a blast of lighting and then I stab my destruction spear at his shoulder. The spikes and some plates are blasted off his armor, but it seems like he still has some layers of armor to spare. I charge at him again and swing my halberd at his head and then shift. I appear upside down and my halberd sweeps at his legs knocking him on his side. I shift again and appear above him as I slam a destruction edge straight down. He doesn't have time to defend or dodge and my attack lands. The explosion is big enough that I am thrown back. I quickly get up and see that he has already gotten up himself except he is using his weapon to support himself and all of his chest armor is gone leaving only the chainmail underneath which is also in bad shape.
He stands up straight and the points his weapon at me again and fires a blast, but the quick beam I was expecting doesn't happen. It reaches where I was and then stops like a massive sword. He then swipes it at me again and it easily cuts through the air without any resistance. It burns a part of my arm before I jump to the side. I keep dodging and rolling around avoiding his attack while he just stands in the same spot. I shift and appear above him, but he just attacks me in midair so I shift again. His attack doesn't suffer any air resistance so his reach is almost unlimited and his reaction speed is too quick. I shift straight at him while barely dodging his attacks. When I finally get in range I partially unshift my halberd and stab at his chest. He swings his weapon at me, but I just shrink my lighting and follow through with my attack. Basically my halberd is the only physical part of me right now so anything that wouldn’t affect lighting wont hurt me. My halberd stabs through his damaged chainmail and pierces his chest. With my weapon in him I let go and charge through my halberd and into his body where I incinerate every thing in his chest before I shoot back out of his chest while grabbing my halberd again. I unshift and watch as he drops to his knees trying to breath. I do not give him the chance to recover as I quickly cut his head off with a lightning edge. When I see his head fall I grab his weapon and its unique sheath and tie it to my waste. I then hide my arm and face before I lower the firestorm I have constantly kept up through the fight.
I see both the Lemuria army and the dwarven army on opposite sides and in the middle lay the dead bodies of hundreds or even thousands. It seems like my battle created a big enough distraction that both armies retreated to see the winner. The humans look happy, but still have fear when looking at me while the dwarves seem absolutely shocked and disheartened. I stay where I am and scan my surroundings. I see my brother is now at the front of the Lemuria army and then I see a dwarf in uselessly flashy armor that even has a cape move to the front of the dwarven army. The more I look at this dwarf the more of an uneasy feeling I get from him. I keep getting a familiar feeling as I watch him until I remember what it is and I instantly charge right at him. I appear in front of him and he looks shocked as my halberd cuts through his armor on his chest. When his armor is torn to shreds I see a disgusting white nail inside of his chest and feel my anger rise. I kick him into the middle of the battlefield and then let my mana pressure loose once again to hold him down. I walk over him and see he is shocked and doesn't know how to react as I raise my halberd over my head and bring it down on the white nail. The very second my halberd and the nail make contact theres an explosion of white energy that burst forward, but this time I am unharmed because I kept my distance with my halberd. After I look at the dwarf and see he is alive, if barely, so I grab him and throw him back at the dwarves.
“You should retreat and heal your wounded soldiers! Your best has been defeated and your leader has been controlled! You should not fight without a reason anymore and go home! If there is still some among you who want revenge then you may come after me! My name is Eva Lemuria the Princess of the Lemuria Kingdom! Now you will retreat or die!”
The dwarven army and the Lemuria soldiers all look shaken from my announcement. I cannot blame them because they know that if what I said was true the situation will become very complicated. Some official looking dwarves come forward and order their men to take back the controlled noble looking dwarf before they announce their retreat. I watch as they slowly make their way back while watching us in the corner of their eyes. At some point Munin came back to my shoulder and is watching them retreat with tired eyes. I know she must have worked very hard today so I sheath my halberd and pat her head.
I then notice that a Lemuria soldier takes a step forward with trembling hands and draws a arrow with his bow and points it at the retreating dwarves. He releases the arrow, but before it could get far I incinerate it with a black fire ball. I then face the Lemuria army and create a wall of black flames behind me while I watch my brother. I hope he shows me that he really has grown a little in this time. He does not disappoint me as he raises his hand as a signal to retreat.
“Where is Father and everyone else?” George takes a second to probably decide whether to respond or not before he tells me.
“Father is leading the army to confront the Anerris Kingdom army. His battle should have started even earlier that this one. Everyone else is back home.” George
After that, he turns his back on me and follows the rest of the soldiers back to their camps. I watch them walk away before lowering my flames and then I shift. I fly straight up and towards the other side of the kingdom while keeping an eye out for any other armies.

Note to Reader: I understand this book is not for everyone, if there is a writer that can write to please everyone, I have never heard of them. The MC can be frustrating in his decisions as he learns to grow and accept what and who he is. I believe this reality is unavoidable. That being said, if you feel the need to give a review, please do so, just know that I will report you if all that review seems to do is blab toxic language and insult my literary choices without giving constructive advice or alternatives. That's not just a me policy, that's a policy of this website. I'm not writing this note because I'm a writer who does not acknowledge that there are faults in my work. I know there are. That's what happens when it hasn't been professionally edited by someone other than the author. I'm saying this because I'm sick of reading 1 star or 0.5 star rated reviews that seem to do nothing but hate on the book because they don't like the story. No comments on grammar, ways to improve or suggestions for better story arcs. Just plain hate. It's not on, and I frankly shouldn't have to write this note, but needed to get it off my chest. In saying all that, thank you to those who do leave reviews that don't fall into the above category. Your appreciation of my work, or alternatively, your willingness to give advice for improvement, is appreciated.

Monghe, stuck in a school exemplifying strength for most of his life, began to understand what he needed to do in order to be strong instead of weak. Story is mostly about nothing. Fermboi does most of the nothing. Aventina does most of the military things. Bolahulag does a balance of economy and military. Derai focuses on economy. Monghe spitfires what it means to be a typical hero. Hopefully this is enough to give a general idea to people who don’t like going blind aside from the work being purportedly “good.” Who am I kidding, my writing is terrible. I hope it improves though.
