Chapter 14

Eva Lemuria-15 years old

I woke up to Julie telling me that today there is the welcoming ceremony soon. I get up easily since as I have already become used to early wake ups from my training and adventuring. I allow Julie to change my clothes with her usual methods since I have since long gotten used to her. I then wash my face in my bathroom before I grab my halberd and walk to the door.

“Princess didn't your mother not want you to walk around school armed?” Julie

“I don't know what you're talking about. I'm sure no one here will tell her either or they can go sleep in the nearest city from here.”

“Princess, wasn't it just a shack at the edge of the school before? Well, I'm sure what the Queen doesn't know won't hurt her.” Julie

And with that, we finally started to make our way towards the open field towards the back of the academy grounds since it's the largest area available on the academy grounds. I noticed people stealing glances at me and some were just looking at my halberd. I hope rumors have spread about me so no more idiots will come to cause trouble for me. I don't care what they say behind my back but I don't want to deal with them in person. I feel like eventually, I'll get in trouble if I keep swatting idiots away left and right.

I reach the field and lean against the wall of the closest building. I'm a good distance from the circular stage that the instructors are standing on for the series of speeches, but I should be able to hear with my strength. Apparently the stage they're standing on is for duels and some lessons so teachers and students would have to reserve the stage in advance or use a smaller one in the different locations throughout the academy. I can already imagine a couple of idiots trying to challenge me to a duel on that stage just to make it public. I'm sure my brother already has a date booked. I feel like just thinking of the future has already made me tired of the academy. I know more problems will just keep showing up too. Actually, it seems like one of them has arrived as if called.

“Are you Princess Lemuria?” As if id answer to some unknown person asking me questions with such arrogance. “Miss I'm trying to find the princess. I’ll ask again are you her or not?” Of course, I shall keep ignoring the weird stranger for now. He seems to be getting mad. I wonder if ill have to hit him if he becomes to unreasonable. “I have been told that the Princess carries a weapon constantly while wearing a hood and has a maid with a strange look on her face while looking at the Princess. You match all these points.” Of course, my reaction is to immediately look to my side at Julie but she just has her usual smile.

“Well, a stranger that I don't know just walks up to me and starts talking as if he owns the place, I don't know why I would or should answer any of your questions. In fact, the only answer to your questions that I've considered is smacking you across the field. Now go away.” Wow, he looks absolutely livid. It’s kinda fun in a way actually. I think Shadow once called me something called a sadist. I'm not sure what it means but during that time I was in a bad mood when George challenged me to the duel and I took my time beating him up.

“How dare you! Do you know who I am? I can have you kicked out of this school if I want. I doubt a barbarian like yourself could be the princess either way. Some violent weakling has no right to be in this school.” Did he just call me weak? I may be many things, but I refuse to be acknowledged as weak! I take my halberd of my shoulder and begin unwrapping the bladed end. I will end this guy before he has the chance to piss me off more.

“I guess before you die I'll tell you the name of your killer, it's Eva Lemuria, 5th tier adventure, and new student of the academy, oh and I'm also a princess of the Lemuria kingdom.” And with that, I swing my halberd at the annoying guys head fully intent on taking it off. He had frozen up when I said my rank and then had become pale when I said that I'm the princess he's looking for. I had intended to just finish him quickly and then burn his body before other started noticing, but my blade was stopped by a plain double edged sword. I looked towards the owner to see its a middle-aged man with a instructors uniform. He's very calm while looking at the situation of me cutting of this guys head. It wouldn't be the first time I've had to do this either. I realized about six months ago that I needed experience killing humans so I took a bandit subjugation mission and had been able to finish the job, but I threw up afterward. After that, I took only a few more till I was able to overcome this weakness. I still feel slightly upset when I kill someone, but I'm fine with that because it's better than feeling happiness or even nothing from killing.

“Carlton I told you to find the princess not instigate her enough to want to cut your head off.” The annoying guy just falls on his butt and stares at the blade that was about to remove his head. Apparently, his name is Carlton, but dead guys have no names so it doesn't matter. “Princess I noticed you're putting more force in your blade instead of withdrawing it.”

“Of course middle-aged guy. How else would you suppose I am to remove annoying guys head since someone put a sword in my path?” I tell him this with as brightest of a smile as I can but he just looks at me with a face that asks if I'm serious. “Now middle-aged guy if you would be so kind as to remove your sword from my blades path. I would rather not use any mana since you never know when it will be needed. If it makes you feel better ill ask you as Princess Eva of Lemuria to please move while I am making a royal execution.”

“Well, it's good that we have found the right princess although she's far stronger that we thought. If you can give me a hard time and you're not even using mana. I must ask you not to cut off Carlton's head even if he was annoying. Just because you call it a royal execution doesn't mean it's allowed either.” This middle aged guy is being so unreasonable. “Princess I feel like you're making a face as if saying I'm the unreasonable one here, but it's hard to tell with the hood.”

“Eva! What's going on? Are you ok? Is that man doing something bad to you? Should I get help?” Oh, it seems like Cathy is here now. I don't want to kill someone in front of her or she’ll start to think badly of me too. Damn middle-aged man ruining everything. “Oh isn't that Carlton the Student councils secretary?”

“Yes, this is Carlton the student council's secretary and he was supposed to find Princess Eva but apparently things didn't go the right way. Hahaha, also Princess I've noticed you still haven't withdrawn your weapon.” Middle aged guy

“Wait has Carlton been being mean to Eva? In that case old guy you should just let Eva finish their duel. I fully support it.” Well, that's unexpected. I can't tell if Cathy knows I planned to kill the annoying guy or not. Either way, I feel happy having someone so supportive of me.

“No Miss Mercury I think there has been some kind of misunderstanding here. Carlton was just supposed to come tell the Princess that she has to come and give a speech as the top scorer on both the knowledge test and the combat test. Since she scored high in both we thought she would make a good representative.” He says with such a happy face this terrible news. I do not want this and I refuse to do it. It would be better if I just pretend I never got the message. “Princess, why are you adding mana to your weapon now?”

“If there is no one to deliver the message that means I didn't get it!” I form a lighting blade and I instantly cut his sword in half before taking another swing at his head, but he barely dodges it. This keeps repeating as he frantically dodges all my attacks no matter from what angle. I jump back and level my halberd to charge at him with a lighting spear. As my black lighting form, it becomes clearly visible as it arcs around my spear. Middle aged guy and annoying guy both looked shocked but I use it to my advantage as I charge and stop before starting forward and releasing my attack, but it fails as a mana shield form between us.

“I see that you have a unique magic and you're also clearly stronger than a 5th tier. At the very least you should be the 4th tier. Ah, I still haven't introduced myself. My name is Instructor Isaac. Now Princes why don't you explain why you want to silence witness here.” Instructor Isaac

“It would be simpler to pretend I know nothing than having to deal with the so-called student council and whatever annoying things they want. It’s as simple as that. It's mostly not personnel Instructor Isaac.”

“That's too bad because we have already decided that you will be the freshmen representative which means being a part of the student council.” I look behind and see some older students behind Cathy. There are about eight students and some of them seem really weird. The guy who talked is the weirdest because he's really plain. He seems like a really common person you'd pass by without anyone noticing. “I am the Student Council President. My name is Steven and most people just call me President.” He even has such a boring name. It just changes him from sad to suspicious. “Princess Eva the student council would like for you to come with us to give a welcoming speech to the other new students of the academy.” I guess now is as good ass time as any to test out that new technique. It might be my only way of escaping this quickly and easily.

I release large amounts of my mana and as it becomes denser it starts to become visible. Everyone tenses up because I'm covered in black mana. I then change it all to a lightning element before I slowly start to withdraw it back into my body. I start with my hands. As lightning mana enters my hands they seem to come apart. No, they actually start to become lighting. I had this idea watching a mana beast consume its own element before firing it as a beam. My hands become lightning and then the rest of my body changes as well. I slowly become a head with a body of lighting.

“Julie make sure you don't forget my stuff here.” My voice sounds weird because my throat has already become lighting. As soon as my head changes my world changes with it. Instead of being everything like usual I only see black and white. Everything's black except faint edges of objects and I can see people glowing different colors. I never made it this far with this technique. I would always fail and just burn my hands. I look around and then I will my body to move as lighting and it takes a second till I'm racing straight up into the sky. I keep twisting and turning till I get the right destination. I aim for the dormitories and pass through a door someone had opened before yelling about lighting. I aim towards my room and before I reach the door I feel myself slow down and I crash into the door in my normal form. I feel blood falling from my head but I ignore it as I get inside my room as quickly as possible because I realize I'm completely naked. I hope no one saw me like that or Mother will definitely punish me. I go to the bathroom and look into the mirror. I look horrible because of the blood running down my head and I also seem to have burned parts of my body. They're only slight burns, but for doing something so crazy I feel like this is getting off light.

“Princess! Are you here?” Julie barges into the bathroom and sees me naked. She ends up drooling a little before noticing my injuries. “Princess we have to get those injuries treated. What did you do? I've never seen magic like that before. I'm not even sure if that can even be considered magic. After you had disappeared those student council people seemed shocked enough that I could grab your things before they noticed and then I slipped away.” She explains what happened on her end while she applies burn ointment and bandages all over my body. She even adds it to my face and partially wraps up my face. I look ridiculous but most my body has normally been covered anyway so I ignore it and lay on top of my bed. “Princess those student council people won't give up just because you gave them the slip. They'll probably become more aggressive now that you have shown them that new spell.”

“Correct! We absolutely must have you now! What are you doing?” All of a sudden two of the females that I remember being a part of the student council barge into my room. I'm not sure if they're shocked because my whole body is covered in bandages or because at some point Julie had crawled on top of me and started to give me a massage while avoiding my burns. “Whats up with this weird scene and black hair and black eyes? I guess it's true what we found out.”

The one who has been yelling is a short redhead girl with brown eyes and a flat chest. She seems like the hyperactive type, but I don't care because I'm pissed people can just enter my room like this. I don't have much mana left, but it should be enough to blow them out so I point my palm at them and from both my fire and lighting together.

“Ah, that seems really dangerous! Wait we just want to talk about this there's no reason you can't listen. We just want you to join us is that so wrong?”

“Why don't you go to the forest and capture a mana beast then? You'll probably have a better reaction to it than you would with me. I don't want to join your club so get out of my room and never bother me again.”

“We probably should just get a mana beast if were going to have something like this join us.” The blue haired girl with green eyes decided to finally speak up and she's not afraid to show her true colors.

“Gena! We didn't come here to pick a fight. We came here to invite a promising talent to join the student council.” Oh, I see. She probably thinks the same, but they want to use me since my strength is already great and ill probably get stronger. I wonder who is behind this. Either way, its time for them to leave.

“Julie I commend you to show these two out of my room and then go find out why strangers can just come into my room uninvited. Tell the school that if this is a common issue I will contact my parents about it and let them handle it.” I withdraw my hand and mana since I'll let Julie handle it.

“I understand Princess. You two have interrupted the Princess while she's recovering. I will now remove you two.” Before they could react Julie rushes them and grabs both of their necks before lifting them and walking out the door. She then closes the door with her foot to go do the rest of her task.

Now that that problem is out of the way I think of the bigger problems I have to deal with. I have my brother who's out for me, the student council is determined to use me for themselves, and there's someone who not only gave them information about me but also gave them access to my room. Today was supposed to be a simple day of listening to the welcoming ceremony and then being given a tour of the academy. I don't know who is ruining my academy life when it hasn't even started, but I've decided that I will show them no mercy. As soon as I perfect my technique I will use it to get my revenge. After that, I will hopefully enjoy my academy days while occasionally spending time with Cathy till I can go back to adventuring and officially rank up.
