《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 412

Of course, for now, she was going to do jack shit. She was too weak and very much aware of it.
She turned to Ame and told her: “Give me a moment and I will make one for you” to which Ame simply nodded with a small smile.
She was not at ease here with these people anymore.
They were not who she always thought they were. She did not feel like she belonged here. But she had no choice for now. She lost even her body…
Drem thought hard about it but he still could not decide what to do with the middle of the cliffside which would belong to him.
On the other hand, Gen had already begun to work. He raised a small amount of earth the size of a house and started to dig through it. He was the opposite of Risa in that he wished for his lair to be underground. It was a lot easier to protect than something that could be seen in its entirety.
Well, provided that it would not collapse.
He would make sure it did not collapse with a bunch of runes and arrays. It would also be good to hide some things he was thinking of experimenting later on…
He was also planning to link his lair to a harbor on the side of the cliff later on. For now, however, he had to dig.
Nangua walked next to Drem and asked him: “What do you think we should do, Young Master?”
Drem turned to Nangua and told him: “You do you, Nangua. Your home is for you to build, make it however you want and I shall do the same with mine”
Nangua grinned as he walked to the left middle. He circulated his energy on a level far beyond what the other did.

The ground shook as if an earthquake.
Gen cursed as he understood what Nangua had done. Moments later, from underground, a gigantic green sprout erupted and ascended further and further into the sky.
Risa hurriedly stopped him: “Stop it! We’re supposed to stay inconspicuous for now!”
Nangua only stopped after it reached a height of a hundred meters. Then he channeled his energy further and continued his work. These two could not stop him as the Young Master had allowed it!
Two more sprouts the same size later and there was a gigantic plant on the cliff. It was of a deep green with many leaves. And it took most of the place as it towered over everything. Even Risa’s small hill had been forcefully pushed aside due to the earthquake.
As for Gen’s underground idea, he scrapped it.
The roots of that thing would likely extend far too deep down there. He sat down and began to ponder on what he could do now.
Nangua admired his handiwork. Now he only had to grow a pumpkin house at the bottom of it and it would be perfect.
That was right. He did not plan to live at the top but at the very ground-level.
The only reason he created those three gigantic sprouts was so as to have something controllable to defend his house later on if something were to attack.
He focused and forcefully grew a gigantic pumpkin palace according to his own tastes.
At the end of it, the whole cliff looked nothing like before. It had three gigantic green stalks and an orange pumpkin palace the length of a decent farming field.
Basically, Nangua took all the space to himself.
“Where are we supposed to get settled now?” coldly asked Risa.
He shrugged: “Wherever you want”

Then, he began to swagger towards his own house only to be stopped by his Young Master: “Nangua, can you go make some sort of entrance to the sect as well, please?”
Nangua stopped, turned around and walked towards their territory’s boundaries.
As he reached it, he grumbled internally: “Treating me as if a servant even though I could crush them all as if ants…If not for him being the Nightmare’s disciple, they would all be nutrients by now”
“Forget it, forget it, let’s just endure in the present so as to have the better future!”
His spiritual energy roared as gigantic vines extended from under the ground and began to create a complete wall that spanned the wall cliff that belonged to them. He moved to what he believed to be the middle which was where he stood since he was too lazy to actually go and check. He proceeded to create an opening in the form of a circular door with a pumpkin face on both sides of it. He linked that door and the entire wall to his three sprouts and his house.
From there, he could act throughout the entire territory at any time. He would be able to react nearly instantly were something to ever happen.
He decided to sit there and laze a bit. If he went back, the others would likely make him work for them some more and he did not want to.
Some time later, Gen came to him with a wooden sign. On it was written the sect’s name: East Tide Sect. They hung it on top of the door.
Gen frowned at the door’s design but did not mention it out loud. They would have to address those issues at some point but now was likely not the right time. Their little group was not very in sync.
It was better to wait until there was some cohesiveness and bonds were formed.
Gen returned to the top of the cliff. He told Risa: “We put the sect’s sign up”
She asked: “How bad is it?”
Gen shrugged: “Looks like an evil sect’s entrance”
She sighed.
Gen left her to return to his supposedly side of the cliff. He would not be able to create himself an underground and if he created something like Risa, it could be toppled anytime by Nangua since the roots of his plants extended deep.
It was difficult to decide…Should he trust Nangua not to destroy their spots?
He sighed.
It was a silly question.
In the end, they had to coexist. He would have to force himself to place some trust in that monster.

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
8 191The Time Tower (the first visit)
****** There are certain universal desires, and chief among them is the desire to possess a button that will allow you to turn back time. The answer to all your problems. They thought that they had discovered the means to achieve the secret desire of their hearts. They thought they’d discovered magic. But we know that magic does not exist. Not in the way that most people wish it would. It was only an illusion. You cannot turn back time. You can only move forward. ****** Only two truths are certain. The Tower must come down. That is their only goal. Pima isn't certain that it's even possible, but when the task falls to her, she must try to set aside all her past fears and failures to reach into the past and change the future of the world. That's the first thing truth: The Tower must come down. The second is...It knows you're here, and it doesn't like being disturbed. ****** Note on the subtitle: Think of The Time Tower as a television mini-series. There are multiple parts, and sometimes you have to wait for the next one. Apart, they are somewhat short. Together, they are longer than a regular movie. This is part one - the first visit to The Time Tower.
8 179Progenitor of Mana
Leo had always felt something was wrong with him. Hell, the world even confirmed this for him with the bundle of mental and physical health issues he had to battle his whole life. At least he always had his imaginary friend, The 'Voice', to guide him through his most troubling times. But what happens when the world comes to an end at the behest of something called 'The System'? And maybe The 'Voice' wasn't as imaginary as he thought as it had been telling him this day was coming for a year. This story is not for the light hearted, at least that is the direction I have it going.
