《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 369

Jin continued to welcome delegations as the days went by until the official opening of the event.

It was Ame that got tasked to animate the whole thing.

To be honest, it was nothing more than a shitshow.

Branch sect elders with no weight in their own sects fighting each other verbally for the control of one more worthless piece of land …He got tired of it far too fast.

So, he skipped the whole thing altogether. Instead, he went on to check the young disciples of these sects. They were having a kind of meet and greet. Basically, they fought each other on top of an arena or chilled around it with wine and snacks.

He sighed.

If you replaced the arena for a swimming pool, it would have looked quite similar to a gathering of young so-called elites from back there on Earth.

Then again, they might be dragons and phoenixes here, on this land, but in another? They would be nothing. True geniuses…Jin met many.

He took a seat slightly away as he watched them absentmindedly.

They were so weak. Regardless of their cultivations. They were weak in battle. He recalled how he himself fought when Hae-Hyuk set up the arena… Yeah, incomparable.

As he reminisced, Nangua approached.

“I had been looking for you, Young Master”

Jin nodded to him. Nangua looked at the young ones on the arena and chuckled: “These younglings are incredibly weak”

Jin agreed.

Nangua turned his gaze back and stated: “Someone tried to dig information on you, Young Master”

Jin frowned as he asked: “Who?”

He could not help but recall that he was in fact still nothing more than a trapped pawn. That islander was very much aware of where he himself was and could probably send more than enough of a task force to capture him anytime.

Fortunately, Nangua dispelled his fear: “A young female disciple from one of these sects”

Jin was heaved a breath of relief internally though he remained curious. He asked: “Why is she doing that?”

Nangua shook his head as he answered: “I don’t know. Maybe she got charmed by your handsomeness young master”

They both laughed.

Jin was physically a middle-aged man well on his years at the moment. After all, he had not yet reached the 30th stage and rejuvenated his self. Unlike Nangua who looked like a young adult. A good-looking one.

Which brought back the question of why someone was looking into him. Many people did along the years. He was, after all, as Baem a wealthy man here and also a vice-captain of division under the royalty. With such an identity, it was bound to attract people’s attention one way or another.

Of course, in this small pond of a continent, there were no real threats internally. So, of those who looked into him, there were no dangers. Not once.

But this time… It was slightly different.

What was weird was that she was probably not hiding it at all since Nangua found out about it.

Right…How come Nangua found out about it?

“How do you know that she’s looking into me?”

Nangua answered matter-of-factly: “Because she asked me questions about you”

Jin’s eyes open wide.

This was a new one, alright.

To think someone would be bold enough to go find and ask Nangua to give them information… Was she brave? Or dumb?

He shook his head. He was lacking too much information. Nangua was smirking. Jin sighed then said: “Just tell me everything, Nangua”

Nangua bowed and began the tale: “It’s nothing much, Young Master. She went up to me as she saw that I wore the division’s emblem and asked me about you. She was curious about your past, in particular, where you came from”

Jin frowned hard.

Now this was a problem.

Most people were interested in his present self, not his past one. They tried to get closer to him for money or for power or even status…They did not need to know his past for that. However, if someone tried to dig into his past… This was different indeed.

There was nothing to be found of course but…what if…just what if…There was?

What brought her to even ask about his past?

Considering his past, there were very few possibilities that would lead to a good ending. He might have to act.

He got up.

At least, this meet-up might not be as boring as he thought.

Ning went back to rejoin her group of friends. She was pouting. That guy did not even tell her anything useful. It was quite unsatisfying.

“I don’t know”

“I never asked him”

Those were the answers she got.

Regardless of who she asked around the Palace grounds…the parts she could access at least…Everyone knew Vice-Captain Baem. No one knew who he was before joining the royal guards.

No one.

Not even the guy she just asked and was supposed to be his right hand and closest aide.

It seemed she would have to ask the man himself…However, what if he was really who she thought? If that was Jin. If it was him for real.

How would he react?

How would she react?

What would actually happen?

Her thoughts kept spinning tales of potential futures, each grander and weirder than the others.

Regardless though, she would have to find out. The answer itself did not matter as long as she reached one. She had to be certain. Just…to ease her heart.
