《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 330

Sarina was quite familiar with what she was getting herself ready for. She hunted those who did such things back in her glorious days.
How the mighty have fallen!
She finally understood those people. And since she was going to commit such a sin, she had to make sure that nothing untoward would happen next. She asked Jin: "Tell me of the situation"
She was not an idiot. It was impossible for this kid's escape not to alert the different powers throughout the world. Jin did not hide anything and told her everything, including the problem he had regarding the seal over his core.
Sarina pondered for a few moments before she sighed and stated: "In the end, we will really need him, uh..."
Jin frowned and asked back: "Him?"
She sighed as she told him: "I'm afraid you will need to commit another sin if you wish for us to survive this"
Jin's gaze turned cold as he continued to ask: "What do you mean?"
Since he was someone worth her trust, Sarina did not hide anything and told him of the entire plan she prepared with Cheng. All of the conspiracy was unraveled and revealed to Jin. He could not help but be surprised by the meticulousness of this whole thing. Obviously, it all depended on a gamble...The appearance of a miracle... But if it succeeded...And it did...
Was it not the greatest jailbreak ever?
However, he was not feeling impressed but resentful. He knew that the sins he needed to commit were going to keep piling up. If he wanted to live, he would have no choice but to continue on this darker path.
He sighed as he extended his palm.
Sarina nodded and switched the seal on her ghostly palm to Jin's. This was the link that would bring Cheng's soul over. A despicable man and a devil in human skin. But someone they both needed to survive.

Sarina proceeded to check Jin's soul sea and told him: "Just keep hitting at it until it breaks. This seal exists to trap your soul from reaching the tenth realm which means that it is vulnerable to everything beyond that"
Jin was helpless. He did so for a while now without much progress. After he spoke about his ordeal, she pointed to his corrupted arm and stated: "Why did you not use that? Did you forget already? This is an elemental power, something belonging to the higher realms of cultivation. It can break the seal after a few months"
Jin frowned. It was not that he had not thought of it or was unable to. He feared it. The experience in which the corrupted being tried to invade his soul sea was forever etched in his mind. He was scared that he would only open the door for the wolf to come in.
Sarina chuckled and told him: "Don't worry. This corruption is no longer sentient but a part of you. In fact, you can be considered as the corrupted being now"
Jin did not like the way she put it. However, if it was true, it would mean that there was a way out. As long as he could break that seal, he would be able to grow.
He was quite curious about the seal though and why the corruption would be able to break it. He asked her about it and she retorted: "This seal is far more powerful than you think. Do you think that every ninth stage can use elements? Like you can with this corruption? This seal is attached to your soul, only the owner of the seal and the target can interact with it. Well, Saints could do it too but...yeah... In any case, it would prevent a ninth stage from forever growing. This is an evil array of the highest level. If not for your peculiar situation, there would be no hope for you"

Jin frowned. Anger towards Hae-Hyuk burned within him. Still, he wondered why Hae-Hyuk only placed a seal like that over his core. He asked Sarina: "Why did he put a seal that could be broken like that?"
She snickered and retorted: "What do you think the cost to create a soul seal is? Why would he need to create something stronger for someone that was supposed to die at The Peak? Don't overestimate yourself. He used the most economical and ingenious way he could"
Jin pondered over her words. Indeed, from Hae-Hyuk's point of view, there would not be a need to create a stronger seal...And if he considered the irony within her question, it was quite likely that one of the ingredients for such a seal was the caster's own soul. Hae-Hyuk was definitely someone meticulous enough that he would be willing such a sacrifice to secure his victory...
Jin's expression changed as he realized something. He quickly asked: "Doesn't that mean that he knows about my every move?"
Sarina shook her head and stated: "No, this array does not contain such ability. However, since it contains a part of his soul, as miniscule as it is, once it is destroyed, he will feel it"
Jin's eyes turned cold as he inquired: "Will he be able to track me at that time?"
She shook her head again and stated: "No. He will be aware that you're still alive though. As for how he will act after that, I do not know"
Jin nodded. Even if Hae-Hyuk knew that he was alive, he would not know his location. Even if he did, it was not certain that he would act at all. Jin was probably nothing to him anymore. What's more, right now, Jin was in a lower continent. If he managed to destroy the seal and cultivate all the way to the 30th stage, he would not have to fear that much.
After they discussed some more about their next moves, Sarina began the ritual to take over the body of the newborn.
Blue light shined through the window.
That night, only the moon and Jin witnessed the rebirth of a legend.

Tesla Stone and the World of Smoke and Mirrors
R0Q-T357-Alpha (callsign: Rock) is a "Core Child," an irredeemably-crippled test tube baby modified and repurposed by an advanced U.S. military project to serve as the CPU for two-thirds of America's orbital defense systems. Though no one outside of the Pentagon has ever heard of him, he protected his homeland from three ICBMs, a Pacific theatre invasion fleet, and one rogue asteroid. Now, after twenty-seven years of distinguished service from "birth," he is being honorably discharged into civilian life. The only problem is that "civilian life" isn't exactly livable for a glorified brain in a jar. How does a couple pounds of grey matter surrounded by five tons of life support systems and enough co-processing enhancements to take over the planet enjoy an early retirement when he's surrounded by overzealous politicians, corporate spies, and foreign agents after military secrets? The real world isn't that forgiving.

A Cleric's Life for me.
This is a casually written story loosely based on TTRPG games like DnD and Pathfinder. The attempt of the story is to have a slow growth in power and comical set of characters who eventually grow close and set off for more serious adventures. There will be plenty of familiars and funny tales that don't involve combat. The intention is not to be a goody-two-shoes cleric story where nothing bad happens. The intention for this story was a slow paced grungy story where everything seemed great at first and things just kept getting worse. I learned how shitty of a story that is to write and honestly I am just not good enough to get the idea down. I plan on revisiting it later.
