《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 313

The four people began to chat.

Jin could sense quite soon that Song Xun had no intentions of divulging his secret. Jin did introduce himself once more as a mortal. Obviously, Ame already knew the truth and Song Xun, being stronger than him, did too. However, neither of those exposed them.

Song Xun himself did not bother hiding his identity at all and directly affirmed being a cultivator traveling to the royal capital for the recruitment.

As for the woman, Ren Jing, she stated that she was also going to the capital for the same reason. Quite understandingly though, her goal was not to become a warrior of any kinds. She was a scholar and hoped to find a job accordingly. She was quite ballsy to search employment there as a mortal at her age and in this domain. Jin did not know much about politics and management but he found her very young. And generally, youth was linked to inexperience.

Whether that was a cliché or not remained to be seen. In her case, he witnessed by himself that he had been wrong. She was refined, cultured and knowledgeable on a myriad of topics. She knew the situation of the kingdom incredibly well too.

Far too well.

Certainly, she sometimes stated that she did not know or took time to ponder as if searching her memories...but something felt fake to Jin. So, he began to observe her even more.

Her gestures, her gaze, her words... He analyzed everything.

And something did not sit right with him.

She was too consistent. As if she was not making a single 'mistake'... It gave him the feeling that she was acting a role. Perfectly doing so at that. She remained so in-line with her words about herself that it felt fake.

Still, he could not definitely give a judgement on this so soon.

The time went by but his feeling remained.

And, finally, they left the carriage to camp for the night. That's when he noticed it. Something that blew her cover. During her stretching while going down. As a martial master, Jin was prideful about knowing a lot about the human anatomy and how the body worked. Be it male or female, he had observed and comprehended much about the body.

The stretching she did, while perfectly imitating a mortal, did not give out the usual signs a mortal would exhibit. In particular, her breathing remained completely stable. And that was impossible for a mortal mid-stretch.

From that moment, he knew that she was a cultivator.

However, it seemed like neither Song Xun or Kaen Ame noticed it. This could only mean that she was even stronger than both. And so, she was at least in the twenties.

She was a potential threat.

Was she from the Church of Light?

Was she from the Cartel?

Was she after him? Or after one of the other three?

Regardless, that carriage was now becoming too dangerous. While Kaen Ame and Song Xun were stronger than him, they had not hidden it. At least, one did not and the other revealed it soon enough. And neither harbored evil intents towards him.

Kaen Ame made it clear.

As for Song Xun, he had yet to show any. But since there was now a threat, he would probably have to reevaluate this one too.

There was one easy way to have a definite answer though.

He went up to the chairman of the caravan and asked him to change carriage. The chairman rejected. Even after being offered a lot of money, he rejected. And the amount Jin offered was not low compared to what he paid for his spot.

The chairman stated that there were no other seats available for purchase and being an honest trader, he could not do anything about it.

This was bullshit.

Jin knew how businessmen were in this world. Greedy. They were greedy.

There were only two things that could stop that man from taking his coins. Either someone paid more or someone threatened him.

Regardless, both possibilities were bad news.

Jin left the camp as usual to go 'observe the sky' as the caravan's people were told and got used to. He left quietly, making sure that the other three had remained there.

He went to a place quite a distance away and sensed his surroundings for a while. Unfortunately, and he was aware, if any of those three tried to hide from his spiritual detection, he could not do anything about it.

And so, he made up his mind.

He dashed away.

He infused his spiritual energy all over his body and revolved it throughout. Making use of all the techniques and movement arts he knew, he rushed away. Since the caravan was now a potential threat, he decided to discard it.

And so, he left.

He ran through the night.

...

Kaen Ame was surprised.

After she left the campsite as usual, under some teasing grins from a few men and women who believed that Baem and her were a 'thing' who enjoyed spending some time together... She did not mind. They were either mortals or weaklings anyways.

However, after she found a peeping spot to witness his arts, she saw him do something unexpected. He dashed away at top speed.

For a moment, she wondered if he was training his movement techniques... But after he was getting further and further away, close to leaving the boundaries of her senses, she cursed.

He was truly making a run from it.

She did not think too much and pursued. The spiritual-less movements that man made were too mystical and filled with wisdom. She wanted to learn more from them. As for the carriage and the little money she paid for her spot, she did not care. It was not as important as her martial arts growing.

As she jumped between the trees, she wondered what could have pushed him to run away.

Was it her? Probably not. He would have left long ago otherwise.

Then...There were only two options:

1) Song Xun

2) Ren Jing
