《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 261

As for that letter...He snickered at it. The contents were no more than the ramblings of a foolish child. Unfair? Inhumane? The trial? Just by being in existence, it helped the experts settle peacefully something that would have turned the world upside down otherwise. It prevented wars, destruction and loss of innumerable lives.
All these words meant nothing to him and he disagreed wholeheartedly. Sure, he participated in the trial and knew how close to death he had been, but then so what? He could look beyond his small self at the world around. The Trial was a good thing.
Then again, that young woman was strong and had a powerful background. There was no need for him to turn her into an enemy. Heck, he could easily make her an ally of his. He only had to lie in his reply. As long as he stated that he agreed, who would contradict him? That is exactly what he planned to do.
She was a fool. And in this world, making use of fools was obvious. One day, he might need her help. If a little lie now could net him her help at that time then sure, he would lie. He would even agree that the sky was gray if she wanted him to!
With age, you understand more things and you view them differently. Her ideals were stupid and impossible. It was bad to encourage her in that way. But it might prove useful to him. So, it was good.
He thought: "If only everyone was as foolish as her...maybe there would actually be peaceful times..."
...
A golden tiger read a letter within his abode while in bed surrounded by a dozen beautiful young women. After coming back alive, he spent his time cultivating and satisfying his desires. It was not because he personally wanted to, though he did, but because he was ordered to. As a time user, the greatest danger to himself was himself. According to the Patriarch, he was to remain in a satisfied state at all times. His life of debauchery was only beginning but he was rather enjoying it. Who wouldn't?

However, this letter infuriated him. To end the trial? Preposterous!
To the tiger clan who was known for their battle abilities, this kind of trial fit perfectly with their culture. Beyond that, it was easy to see that there were more positives than negatives to it.
But then again, that woman was sexy. He licked his lips and grabbed an ass while wondering how she would feel like in bed. Would she be sweet or spicy? Ah...He was losing against his carnal desires once again.
After a few rounds of pleasure, he went back to the letter and wondered. If he made her believe that he agreed and supported her ideas, would he be able to have a taste of her?
He chuckled as he imagined it. He found the idea very good. A woman who fell for a man because he said he believed in her...It wouldn't be the first time. He wrote a very insincere reply that would rub her the right way. Laughing, he threw the letter at a servant and left for the dining hall, he was hungry now.
Should he get beef or chicken this afternoon?
"Bah! Let's just get both!"
...
In the highest room of the tallest tower within a big castle, there was a princess. She was not locked away or awaiting a prince, no, this wasn't this kind of story. Instead, she was having a meeting with a few of her trusted 'shadows'. They were her personal army of sneaky assassins. They were certainly of ill repute but they got the jobs done and that's what mattered to her.
However, this time, they were rather reluctant.
One of them asked: "Do you really want us to spread this document, My Lady?"
The Princess, Theorurin Hyo-Ju, asked back: "Is there a problem with it?"

That same man replied: "Won't we lose our knowledge advantage, My Lady?"
She turned around and stated with a scary smile: "Everyone already knows. The Saints already sent missives to the stronger powers. By now, everyone should be aware of it. So, spread it. I want him"
The 'shadows' bowed and disappeared. By the time she blinked, they were likely already thousands of meters away. All of them were at the 49th stage and powerful experts trained to be swift. Spreading the document would be a piece of cake.
At that moment, a man that was sipping tea at the table spoke: "My Lady, I am terribly sorry to ask but why would you want someone like him?"
She went to join the man at the table and said: "I have my reasons, advisor"
The man, her advisor, nodded. If she did not want to speak about it, he would not ask further. His status did not permit it. Instead, he opted to change the topic: "How about that letter from Miss Sophia Crowe?"
She asked back: "Are you asking me what I think of it?"
He shook his head sideways. He did not need to know and, to be honest, if he needed to in order to understand her opinion, he would be the shame of all advisors. What he meant was something else. He answered her by changing his first question: "I meant how would you like to answer her, My Lady?"
She chuckled and said: "Advise me"
He chuckled back as he stated firmly without a shred of shame: "Lie and agree"
She laughed and nodded. She praised him: "You know me quite well"
He smiled as he bowed slightly.
She sipped some tea before telling him: "I will leave you to see to it. Make sure that the letter is acceptable. I trust you"
He bowed as he left to fulfill his task.

When a longtime plan’s failure ends up opening the path to several twisted opportunities, Roland might have to finally admit to himself that nobody of importance, much less fate itself, had any regards for his heroic inclinations. Slow paced, character focused story. Gets very dark at times. Basically like Lord of the Mysteries with more comedic aspects at the start. Chapters are released Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday. Average chapter length is about 4000 words, with only the first vision being noticeably shorter. Have fun reading.

The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.
