《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 206

Jin was fighting the corrupted being with a spear in hand while the monster made swords out of himself. The weapons clashed into each other many times as both fighters laughed. Then, Jin began to will the many spears behind him. Ten of them joined him, hovering around. He began to use his colorful spear technique with them. They contained no elements but they were capable of similar movements. They could move in same erratic patterns though they couldn't divide or combine. But they could grow or shorten themselves. It was more than enough.
The corrupted being grew its presence to take on the form of a three-mater tall giant with six arms and four legs. The combat was fierce as they moved around in the darkness. There was no ground yet everything was the ground. It made for many more variations of movements. Jin took the opportunity to add many variations to his patterns. He would jump only to run while at the highest height of the jump instead of falling down and such... There were no rules binding them to gravity here.
After a time, the corrupted being got tired of this little game and used a technique he previously used. The giant all-encompassing wave. However, this time, Jin didn't have anything to fear. With a glint in his eyes, he willed and the spears answered. The thousands and thousands of spears he made through the years heard his call and flowed to him at great speed. They were targeting the giant wave of corruption that was rushing at him.
The corrupted being never expected such a thing to happen. Didn't this human only had the ability to control ten spears? That was the truth...Outside. He could only control a dozen elemental spears as he needed to maintain their forms through spiritual energy so as to contain the elements within. Here, however, he didn't have to. What's more, it didn't require him to focus in the same way. The spears were a shape of his will. It was, from the very beginning, no more than his own thoughts that had been materialized.

This was his inner world and he controlled it. He willed it all inside this space. And he could control all those spears as one.
Thousands of spears. Ordinary spears. That was the might he controlled in here. And that was what was attacking the corruption that spread itself in a giant wave. It was too late for it to shapeshift entirely. It was hit heavily by the spears which exploded into his 'existence' taking a part of it along with their own disappearances.
With every spear that exploded, a part of the 'existence' of the corruption vanished.
As the attack finished, there was nearly nothing left of corruption. There was only a small blob the size of a cow. Compared to the lake-like form it proudly displayed previously, it was nothing. Jin grinned at it as many more spears readied themselves.
For the first time since awakening, the corrupted being had fear in its eyes. It was unable to comprehend the situation. Its existence itself was threatened. From its instincts, it knew.
This was death.
And from the two cultivators it absorbed, it knew to fear it. It felt the fear of it. And Its instincts told him to flee. As Jin willed the spears to descend, the corrupted being disappeared from the spot he had been at. Jin was left alone in his soul sea with no one else there. Then, he saw that his body was disappearing.
He sighed.
What a shame. He was so close to ending with a victory. He had only one last thought before losing consciousness: "It was fun"
...
The remnants couldn't believe their eyes. They saw as the corruption reduced in size at an amazing speed. And there was nothing left. They could see the body of the kid laying there on the ground, in a giant crevasse. Then, they noticed it. One of its sides was eroded by corruption. Yet, the corruption was no longer crawling up on him. It refrained from absorbing him further... Most of them couldn't believe what they saw.

And then, the barrier changed. It was still preventing entrances and exits but it showed that it had acknowledged a victor. Because an hourglass appeared with no sand inside of it.
Sarina was beyond herself, smiling beautifully. Cheng, on the other hand, was cursing the heavens and fate. Sarina turned to him and spoke: "Pay up, whore"
Cheng grinded his teeth. Yet, he had no choice but to abide to his words. If it had been the real him, outside, he would have been running away without paying his debt. Who cared about face in front of benefits? But here? He could not do so. He was a remnant. And if he stooped low enough to go against his words here, the other remnants wouldn't take it lightly.
There were remnants from both the good and evil here. They acknowledged each other's existences and respected each other. But there was one thing neither side tolerated. It was to go back on one's words when it came to the 'years' they had. Since he bet on it, he would have to take responsibility for his words. They might force his remnant to be erased otherwise... It happened a few times before. Just because they were remnants didn't mean they were immortals. Living beings could erase them. The Saint Patron had both the ability and right. If the other remnants pushed for his eradication, he would only be able to blame the heavens.
He went to the hourglass and placed a hand upon it. The, something flowed out of him and sand began to appear in the hourglass. This went on for a few seconds. As he took out his hand, he turned to Sarina and spoke: "Six years. That's all I have"
Sarina snickered as she walked to the hourglass and placed her own hand on it. It flowed for longer. The sand was not even falling down anymore. She spoke: "That makes it 29 years. Is there any other friend here willing to lend a helping hand?"
No one moved forward. She didn't blame them. She stated: "Then, the time shall now stop. I will see you all in 29 years"
She entered the arena and it faded into half-existence, out of everyone else's sights. Cheng whispered: "This crazy bitch really intends to teach a dying champion...What a waste of years!"

Not nessisarily as a summary, but more to give you all some context for where each short came from, as well as any chapter-spicific trigger warnings. I can't think of any off of the top of my head, but better safe then sour.Comments, reviews, and constuctive criticizm is welcome, but please do recall that these works collectivly represent a great deal of my growth as a writer.Cover by the wonderful gej302!
