《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 195

Be it Jin or Min-Su, to win, they would still have to defeat the other challengers. And they hadn't been picked randomly either. Whether Hae-Hyuk was the only one who found a champion through seeing some of the world's fate was up to debate. He himself did not believe so. At least he was certain the Abbot did it too. But he wasn't the biggest opponent to Hae-Hyuk. The greatest problem was 'corruption' that Cao Lei let out. That thing was truly an abomination. It wasn't invincible but if you didn't know how to approach the fight against it, it would be the same as suicide.
Right now, that thing had even absorbed a huge elemental beast and reached the abyss. It didn't even think twice before jumping over it. Of course, it was affected by the elements in the air and was forcefully sent down. It became a meat paste of the corruption element. It was very similar to what happened to others who tried to cross this chasm. The difference laid in the fact that the 'corruption' wasn't dead. It couldn't move and was stuck to the ground but not dead. It could still think too and found the solution in mere seconds. It began to adjust its size by growing himself in the direction of the other side of the abyss and retracted its parts that were the furthest from it. By constantly alternating between growth at the front and retraction at the end, it moved little by little at a visible pace. And it reached the bottom of the cliff. Then, it only had to use the cracks within the rocks while repeating the same actions as before. Due to the fact that it could manipulate its own density and solidity, it could slowly climb out of the abyss.

And the 'corruption' reached the area where the champions were at. Its greedy eyes were taking in the sights, searching for the closest prey. It could identify a lot of life signals here. Soon, it found one and walked ahead towards it...
...
Meanwhile, many champions were no longer focusing on the puppets and instead fighting each other. The fire dragon sentient beast was facing the shadow tiger after he activated the puppet and escaped from it. That thing had turned aggressive right away, locking him as a target, not even considering who activated it. He had cursed the defective product as he fled away. Then, he ended up in the cavern of the fire dragon and was entangled in battle with it. Elements of flame and shadow collided as they fiercely tried to eliminate the other.
In a different cavern, the battle between the gold tiger and the sword master continued. They had yet to resolve the duel and decide on the winner. Both were exhausting all their cards and energy on the fight and displayed impressive might far beyond their actual realm.
In another one, two of the boar tribe were raping a woman cultivator, unaware that they were being eyed by the newly-turned soul-being champion. She was glaring at them with fierce anger. She didn't know the other woman but she sympathized with her. Still, she didn't want to act at the wrong time. She was going to wait until they delivered their loads before ending their lives. They would be the most distracted at that moment...
At a different cavern, two cultivators fought against two others fiercely. And in the cavern next to them, two champions from the same camp were fighting. Or rather, one was being slaughtered by the other. They were Cao Lei's champions. The weapons they used brought another commotion inside the grand hall as they were famous. They were Cao Lei's weapons themselves, The Sword of Resentment and The Gourd of Evil Sealing. Cao Lei gave the excuse that his disciples stole them from him. Which no one believed. It wasn't against the rules though. And unless the winner himself picked them at the end, he would have the rights to get them back. He wasn't the only one who did that thus no one reproached him too much this kind of act. They just wanted an opportunity to criticize and insult him.

As for those two champions of his, he didn't mind that they fought. Only one could win in the end anyways. It might even be better that they did it now. One champion with both treasures would be stronger than two separate champions with one treasure each. And the one who won was the holder of the sword as he expected. Both treasures were powerful but the Seal was easy to counter if you knew it well enough. The sword, on the other hand, couldn't be countered easily. One of his champions died but he didn't care. Now, there was a stronger champion to represent him. This was what mattered.
Battles were fiercely erupting everywhere and Jin's cavern didn't end up being spared. He was now entangled in a fight against a cultivator that he recognized. Or rather, he knew the faction he belonged to. He was from the Empire he originally belonged to. That man was using weird gloves and boots to fight against him. They were dark with claws and erupted in elemental flames as he infused spiritual energy in them. They obviously contained a powerful array in them. However, they likely consumed just as much energy as they provided power.
Jin's colorful spears were forcing the man on the defensive little by little, inflicting small damage at a time. Jin was controlling the spears as he moved with his own while the man could only take on a passive stance in the duel. The battle was still very fierce with his opponent strong enough to inflict heavy damage onto him were he to let him get a hit in. He had no such plans of course.
The worth of his training in the arena and his past battles was showing as he was overwhelming this elite.

Rise of the First Necromancer
Asrael Nessarat awakes on a sandy dune with a mouthful of sand and nothing but tattered rags in his posession. As the High Magus of the school of Necromancy, he once aspired to prove to the Emperor that magic still held a place in their society. But that day came, passed and inevitably accelerated his kind's downfall. Now; they are hunted, strung up and burned on pyres throughout the Empire by the Emperor's holy Inquisition- an efficient and ruthless army hell-bent on bleeding every last droplet of magic from the lands. With nothing but a mouthful of sand and tattered rags; Asrael is determined to seek the one thing his cold, still heart desires. Vengeance. This story can, at times, get very dark. It is not recommended for the faint of heart. This is not a story of an overtly powerful wizard who can pulverize his enemies from across the world, nor is it in any way, shape or form a joyous tale. We follow Asrael as he and his companions explore and seek to change an unjust world, where kindness and acceptance are exceptions, rather than the rule. If you are looking for a story to inspire hope or joy, this is not it. If you wish to read about likeable, heroic people, turn around. If you wish to see good battle evil, where the cut in between is clear, then this is not for you.
