《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 98

Why all those people were having fun, there were some people who had to take their actions seriously. One of them was the man in charge of Sophia Crowe, Justin Hughes. He had been tasked with one thing and one thing only: to make sure Sophia didn't mess around too much and create hard to handle problems. But the fact was that she had absolutely no common sense.
Having been raised as the little princess and sole daughter of the twin tower's owner, everyone was biased when it came to her. She didn't know what a mistake was as there would always be people to rectify the shit she pulled. Even more so, no one ever dared complain about her. She did whatever whenever she pleased and was brought up thinking that was natural.
Which made Justin's job all the more painful.
This little miss never cared about others, thought herself always right and, as if all that wasn't enough, was fearless and unable to think of the consequences of her actions. If only she knew more of the world than just this place where she was like a little tyrant...But nope. She only ever knew life here where everything was granted to her.
And today was exactly the kind of day that Justin hated. It was the kind of day where she came back with a bright grin. She was once again up to something. He decided to ask her why she was so happy, trying to glean some information... Oh, she made comrades in arms... This could be bad. It could be troublemakers or worse, criminals! He had to know more!
Unfortunately for him, except for being told that she was going on a secret mission the next day, he wasn't told anything. "A secret mission is indeed supposed to remain secret, young miss. But then why would you tell me you are going on one?!" were his thoughts. The little miss on the other hand decided to tell him for two reasons:
One) It didn't matter that he knew because he wouldn't be able to stop it.
And Two) She loved to tease him that way since he always panicked and such. Very entertaining.
...He wasn't entertained. He was scared shitless. He was very aware of what kind of people were in this city right now. There was going to be an exhibition soon at that place and many strong powers came along with their heirs and such. He was aware of how the little miss, filled with justice, was against that place too. If she decided to stir shit up at this time, he would be fucked. The owner wouldn't let him off scott free this time.
It was his duty to make sure the little miss wouldn't fuck things in the city.
And so, he went straight to a costume shop. Because he was also, in name, the little miss's butler. And she asked him to get her a disguise. He decided to pick something that would hide her while letting people recognize her. She was evidently famous around here. And so, a half-mask of a blue butterfly along with a dark cape should do the trick. She would think her disguise is perfect while everyone would be aware of it and yet play along.
A perfect way to minimize risks!
As he was proud of himself, he pondered for a moment and decided to buy a dozen real disguises. He would go fetch a few mid-level cultivators from the tower and ask them to tail the miss with him tomorrow. If she was in danger or brought danger upon others, they would take action...
Another man who was very shaken about today's happenings was Finn Campbell. This man was the owner of this third branch of the Chromatic Abudance. He was a mighty high-level cultivator yet still far from the tower owner's level. But he was quite an affluent figure and renowned throughout the area. However, today, he was having a headache. And not a painless one.

He was well-aware of the little tower princess being, let's say, rather against his business. Even though he had a deal going on with her mother... It was a pain to keep it a secret from her and she was a pain herself. She was strong for her age yet stupid as a cow. She was raised like an house flower and doesn't know shit about how the world works.
Because of this, he kept incurring losses every month. She always found a way to destroy her merchandise transports and free whatever could be freed from there, destroying the rest. Fortunately, she had been warned by her mom not to fuck with their shop. He could still remember the humiliation from that day he went to meet the tower owner to ask her to keep her daughter in check...
She had laughed at him for not being able to deal with a single girl...then threatened him that if he dared do anything, he was as good as dead. What a bitch! Both of them! Bitches!
Yet, here again, the youngest was creating trouble for him. The big exhibition was in three days. Three motherfucking days! And she had to get into contact with that technique master's disciples! If those two were to join her, she would probably come knocking on his doorstep this time.
She probably thought that bringing someone else would lighten her punishment afterwards... Especially those two youth. They were weak as cultivators since they were still young but they were scarier to face than a high-level cultivator. Why? Because they had fucking Hae-Hyuk behind them, a true and real expert level cultivator.
Which was why when his assistant brought him the following news, he was overjoyed: "They separated after they promised to meet at a certain inn. However the two disciples of Hae-Hyuk checked in at a different inn"
This meant that they ditched her. Whether they didn't want to associate with her or were against acting against him, he was able to make sure of one thing: they weren't in cahoots. Not yet. And so, it was better to act now.
Before the bitch got them on her side, he would bring them on his own. He looked at the assistant and said: "Go and send them an invitation each to the exhibition. VIP-level"
"Right away, Sir"

The Last Marshal
Weird West Fantasy Noir Once the Republic Marshals brought order to the chaotic lands along the Frontier, facing dangers both human and supernatural with ancient wisdom and a six-gun —but that was a long time ago. Destroyed by conspiracy and betrayal, all that remains of that secretive order is one nameless man on a trek though the West seeking revenge on the woman he blames for the Marshals' fall and his disgrace. When a visitor from our world joins him on his journey, they together must confront the horrors of a strange land, the mysteries of the past and the real meaning of their quest for justice. The world of Tellus is what 19th Century Earth would have looked like if the stories of Poe, Ambrose Bierce, Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson were real. History in this world moves slower. The old faiths persist and civilization never conquered the dark corners of the map, at least not without being inextricably changed. Technology and culture takes a little longer to evolve in this land, as people here tend to spend more time pursuing their elaborate revenge plots or trying to avoid being the next sacrifice to the Outer Gods rather than advancing science or statecraft. Imagine Cormac McCarthy by way of Edgar Rice Burroughs, though a little less testosterone-drenched than that description would imply. Three caveats: First, there are deep mysteries here, including how such a world came to be and who controls it. Second, this world is not wholly unconnected from our own. There is a historical point of divergence, but in the distant past. To paraphrase Twain: history in this world is not a repeat of our own, but it does often rhyme. And finally, this is not a setting that lends itself to happy endings.
