《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 80

As he opened his eyes this time, he found himself in the body of a kid. He was that kid of course. He was very familiar with this body as it was his second body. He was eight-year-old Jin at the time when he decided to leave the farmer couple's house. As he thought of it, a question popped up in his mind: "Haven't I already just experienced a life about love and such? Why am I here?"
At that time, a rodent near the wall opposite his bed got up on its hind legs and spoke: "Wondering why you were brought here?" Jin turned to face the rodent. He couldn't help but feel weird about it. He never managed to get used to talking animals... The rodent didn't seem to care: "It's not about love this time, make sure to enjoy yourself, it won't be too long"
Then, the rodent went back on all-four and rushed back into the hole in the wall. At that moment, it was already deep into the night. It was around the time he left home. But this time he didn't. He had no control of his body. As he was wondering what would happen, the door opened to reveal both his parents. They went to sit each on one side of him and hugged him.
They said how sorry they were about the screaming and so on. They told him how they loved him and only wished for the best for their first son. They said they would try to enquire about the closest sect and how he could join it. After that, he lived in happiness with the couple. They worked hard, they had another child, a little sister for Jin. After some time, they managed to buy a single candle stick from a random cultivator passing-by.

They gave to Jin and told him to do what the cultivator told them. This time, Jin managed to 'will' the spiritual energy inside of him though he himself couldn't understand or feel how. After reaching eleven, he tried to join the closest sect, The Wind Slash Sect, and was allowed in. After that, he cultivated for a year while spending the week-ends in his family... And everything froze but him.
The rodent appeared from under the ground, digging through and getting up on its hind legs. It was difficult to distinguish the facial expression of a rodent and Jin could not. But he was sure that this thing was smiling right now. The rodent asked him: "And now? Do you regret it? You might have been able to get both in this second life, you see"
Jin take a look around at the fields, his second parents and his little sister playing in the mud not too far. Then, he shook his head sideways and said: "It doesn't change things. I would have remained a frog in a well if I stayed there. I was lucky enough to be given a second chance at life, if I stayed there, wouldn't it have been a waste?"
The rodent, as if its turn, shook his own head sideways and reprimanded Jin: "Did you think you had to become some kind of hero? A master amongst master? Once more? Did you not even consider the fact that maybe this was an opportunity to make a different choice?"
Jin smiled sadly and said: "I did. Of course, I did. I kept wondering why I have been so lucky. But you know what? I don't know. And I might never know. The only truth is that I ended up here. I don't believe I am a hero or will be one. I don't consider myself a master anymore. I've seen more than enough to know my place in this world. And that's exactly why I don't regret making the very same choice once more. This world has so much to offer, for me to experience and see. So many strong men and women worth fighting with all I've got. I couldn't have asked for something so great even in my dreams"

The rodent retorted: "What about Love? Fame? Wealth? Are you going to forsake them once more?"
Jin laughed as he answered: "Not this time, no. Because in this world, I can have it all. That's just the kind of world it is. I don't regret abandoning this second family of mine. I will never forget them. But what I want never changed, be it this live or the previous one. I want to feel alive. And only while pushing towards the peak of my martial arts do I feel this way"
The rodent nodded itself and the scene shook again. As he woke up, this time, he was in a black void, similar to his soul sea but not quite as he couldn't sense anything. He was in his actual body. And facing him was a duplicate of him. It was his inner demon who took on his appearance.
"So, what did you think?"
"I don't know, what should I think?"
"I let you experience yourself, what do you think of yourself?"
"I am a trash of a man, I guess? *chuckle* I am ready to give up on everything for a single one, even hurting others in the process. And I am greedy. Even after doing all this, I still desire to be acknowledged"
"That's right. That is who you are. And those are your emotions. Will you give up on them to walk further?"
"Never. Emotions are what makes me who I am and the reason I want to go further. I may be trash but I am fine with it. Power without emotions has no meaning to me"
"What if you were unable to go further because of this choice?"
"I would try again. And again. As long as it takes until I succeed"
And that was when they both spoke at the same time: "Because that is who I am and only the peak is my aim"
Inside the Mansion, Hae-Hyuk saw Jin open his eyes. He had broken through to the spiritual warrior realm successfully. The Master rejoiced as he asked Jin: "How was it?" and Jin answered: "Very...enlightening"
