《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 75

Jin couldn't comprehend what he just heard. Just those five techniques were worth so much? 5000 gold and 500 pills?! Since when were money and resources so easy to earn in this world? What's more, those techniques didn't look to be much. They were far from impressive...At the very least, it did not seem that incredible. As Jin looked at Min-Su, he found him gazing at his Master like a fangirl at her idol.
He sighed as he tried to think of why it was so expensive. For now, he would leave aside the matter of the technique's potential aside. What was the foundation of a sect? Wealth and techniques. What mattered here were the techniques. How were they made? How did a Sect acquire their techniques? It couldn't always be about buying them from a technique master. And it would likely be fairly easy though time-consumming for someone of an higher-realm to make some...
Could it be related to time? Is it because the stronger ones don't want to waste theirs on this? No. It can't be just that. There was something he was missing there. But he couldn't quite pinpoint it. He decided to ask Min-Su rather than staying in the dark and wasn't disappointed: "Did you think it was easy to create a technique? *snicker* It's incredibly difficult! Techniques that are relying on spiritual energy are a whole different world compared to the little techniques we might have used until now. How to direct the energy, how much of it to use at which time... Don't underestimate the process!"
Was it because he had yet to learn one himself? It might be that way. As he was still pondering the issue, the 'adults' had already finished their trade. The Sect Leader gave the coins and pills to Hae-Hyuk who, in return, took out five jade slips and handed them to the Sect Leader. They weren't handwritten manuals but the upgraded, cultivators-only, version. By inputting your soul energy into the jade slip, you could watch someone who taught you and demonstrated the technique. It had a lot more worth. All the elders were very satisfied.

Hae-Hyuk was ready to go back to the sect but was stopped by the Sect Leader. He had taken out a pen from his own space ring. The pen seemed average, well, like any pen. Just a bit more colorful and elegant maybe? But its introduction made it something on a whole new level.
"This is an equipment we found with some luck during a previous mystery realm exploration. This pen is an equipment of the fourth Grade. I wonder if Master Hae-Hyuk would be interested?"
Hae-Hyuk took the pen and began to study it carefully. Min-Su was jumping in pure excitement. Jin was a little moved as well. He was well aware of what this kind of equipment meant. During the exhibition match in the sect back then, both inner disciples were using grade 2 spiritual weapons. And they could provide them with incredible buffs. Now, here, this was merely a pen but they said it was of the 4th grade? It meant that it was the kind of equipment that a spiritual warrior could only use after reaching the 40th stage of spiritual accumulation. Just how overpowered was this little pen?
Jin soon had his answer as Hae-Hyuk analyzed it aloud: "This pen can provide a boost in attributes to all arrays made with it...Between 20 and 40% increase? Not bad! I'm interested. What do you expect in exchange?"
20 to 40% increase in the powers of any arrays made using it? That was a game-changer item for any respectable array-masters. Jin didn't know its true worth but there was one thing he was certain about. That shit was worth a whole lot. It was a treasure.
The Sect Master didn't mess around and was very direct this time: "A legacy technique usable up to the 50th stage at the very least and aligned with our sect doctrine"

Hae-Hyuk seemed to hesitate. Legacy techniques were something that could be further upgraded without known limits. If the foundation techniques were the pillars of the sect, a legacy technique was its front door. It represented a sect itself because it was that much of a powerful technique.
This pen was valuable. Very much so. But a legacy technique was as well. In the end, he spoke seriously: "I will show you one and we will talk from there" and before anyone could speak, he moved forward and infused spiritual energy in his hand.
He straightened his right arm upwards and the spiritual energy exited his palm to form a hammer above his head. Then, he brought the hammer down creating a small explosion upon contact with the ground. The formation of the hammer with energy was visually cool to look at but the strength of the technique was lacking. It wasn't even comparable to the previous techniques he sold...
The Elders were of the same opinion. As Hae-Hyuk turned around, he introduced the technique: "This is called the 'Unlimited Hammer Fall Symphony' and I demonstrated its entry level. Now, let me show you what can be done at mid-level, when one is at the 40th stage of spiritual accumulation. Please do create a barrier"
After he spoke, he walked a few more steps forwards. The Sect Leader erected a spiritual barrier in front of everyone else. All eyes were glued onto Hae-Hyuk. His stance remained the same and he repeated the same movements. However, this time, the hammer that he formed was vastly different. To the point they couldn't be compared. And that was because this one was towering as high as a mountain. As it appeared, it even scattered a few clouds that asked nothing and had just been hanging out in the skies.
Then, as he brought it down, the Earth seemed to die. The ground shook, the air vibrated and the noise was deafening. Even from behind the barrier, they could feel incredible air currents. The robes of the group were fluttering madly. Jin and Min-Su were forced back a few steps as well.
This was no longer playing around. This was beyond everything Jin had seen. He thought he had learnt a bit. Yet here he was once more linking himself to the frog of the well. Hell, this was devastating.
As the wind of the aftermath reached them, Jin cursed silently. He had never seen a bomb detonate but he imagined that this was very close to it.

Redshirt: The Journey
Freedom and Order. Peace and War. Love and Hate. Hundreds of young children awaken in a damaged world, on the brink of societal collapse, witnessing the birth of an omnipotent system. Their roles are pre-determined, yet the very fabric of reality lie in their hands. The order of the world shapes them, just how they are free to shape the world in their disparate visions. Each choice, each action, each word, has consequences that reach far beyond their perception. Freedom or Order; ashes in the wind, or the gilded chains. Updates at least every Monday, Thursday, and every other Sarturday, (from 26/11/2021). This is primarily a story exploring what it means to be human, using a lens of a hopefully real-feeling fantasy world. This story is not a power fantasy or a traditional Litrpg , while it has elements of these genres, it will focus on how these tropes would influence real people and possibly Redshirt will break some of these tropes along the way. There will be a variety of different characters and perspectives, some you hate, some you love, and some that will frustrate. Just as all people do. I don't believe there will be anything overly traumatic or explicit, but it's better to be safe than sorry. There will be some heavy topics explored, the characters views do not reflect the authors; however, if there is an issue in how I present/understand these issues please do tell me, and I will try my best to rectify it.
