《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 70

It was a few days later that Jin reached the peak of the body refinement and not long later that the army came back. He had yet to try breaking through due to the fact that a spiritual warrior would be noticed compared to a body refinement warrior. It was one more precaution taken... Though he would try to break through as soon as he considered himself safe.
Once the army arrived, they did not take long before they organized a giant party and at the end of it, the Prince fused the two crystals, officially ending the border war. The Empire entrance was closed. Sarhjin's entrance opened up further and the membrane disappeared. Under the cheers, those who participated in the war began to leave Area 27.
Jin followed the crowd. He passed by the gates and saw a camp similar to the one they had before. The flagships were different but that's about it. With no one to go to, he was looking for some random corner to stay for the moment. It was unfortunate that he had not managed to find the quartet again after the army came back. Maybe they died?
He found a place to sit not too close and not too far and observed the many disciples go back to their sects and mercs go to their companies if they had one. Most of those in a situation like him, where they had no one waiting for them, did the same as him. They picked a spot and sat down.
It wasn't that Jin wanted to wait. If he could, he would have already left. The problem was that no one had left yet and being the first...It would attract attention. So he could only wait. And as he waited, someone tapped on his shoulder. As he turned around, his face hidden by the mask, turned green. It was someone that he knew. Or rather, it was someone he got aquaintained with during this war.

But it wasn't someone that should be here. After all, this man belonged to the Empire camp. It was Min-Su. The kid that had shared their house back in the Empire camp. Before Jin could ask, Min-Su asked: "Fancy meeting you here, on this side, Jin. What are you doing here? Where's Soo-Hyun?" but Jin didn't answer. First, he couldn't understand how this guy recognized him. He wore a mask after all.
"Hm? Staying silent? Wait, you're suspicious of me? That hurts~ Aren't we friends?" and Jin answered him in the best modified tone he could use: "You got the wrong person"
Instead of making Min-Su leave, it made him laugh. Min-Su told him: "Come on now, no need to hide it. I spent enough time with you that I could recognize you even with a mask" but Jin remained adamant: "You got the wrong person"
Min-Su wouldn't let up: "Take off the mask and prove it then. Otherwise, stop messing around. If you don't want to be caught like the others who switched sides, follow me"
How he was recognized really shook him but there was something more important here. What did Min-Su mean with that? People who switched sides will be caught? This couldn't happen. Or rather, how could it happen? Instead of following Min-Su, Jin asked him: "How could they find them?"
Min-Su chuckled as he answered: "Didn't you ever think of why it was so easy to switch sides? It's because they don't care and can easily find out once outside. Check that thing on top of the entrance, there. That's an identificator. They already know who the moles are"
Jin saw that there was indeed a weird contraption on top of this entrance that wasn't there on the other side. Was it truly an identificator? This kind of thing was created through blacksmithing and array crafting and quite costly. It was capable of identifying people just as its name implied. It could record someone's unique soul wavelength and since everyone had a unique one...

But it didn't make sense for there to be one here. Those things were very costly. He had learnt about them in one of the books pertaining to the border wars. But it was mainly used during the biggest border wars were spiritual warriors of higher level joined. Because it was costly! Why would one be here?
Jin asked: "Why would there be one here?" and he was answered by "Because they don't want moles, duh. Now, come. Otherwise, don't bear a grudge once they catch you"
In the end, Jin followed Min-Su. Since he had been recognized anyways, might as well take off his mask. As he took it off, Min-Su mumbled "you could have done that from the start" but Jin ignored it. Instead he asked him: "How did you notice it was me?"
Min-Su answered him as such: "I checked your pouch while we were at the Empire camp" Jin glared at him and he hurried to say: "Don't be like that, I had not much choice. Being cautious is one of the rules for us wanderers!"
It did make sense but it didn't feel good. Not only that, how did he even manage to check his pouch? Jin felt that it was rather dubious. Maybe he didn't want to tell the truth? Or if that was the truth, it meant this guy could have killed him anytime since he could check the pouch he had kept with him at all times.
He began to reassess the kid next to him. There were too many questions and even the answers he was given didn't feel like the truth. Be that as it may, he didn't have any more time to think as they were now facing a sitting young adult. As Min-Su approached and respectfully called the man "master" before introducing Jin.
Jin, on the other hand, was studying the 'master' in front of him. He had long hair going down his back mixing black and white colors. His eyes were hidden behind a cloth of sorts that went all around his head. He wore a simple black battle robe with absolutely no designs on it. He had at least one ring on every finger and no weapons that could be seen.
He gave off quite the mysterious vibe.

Overseer
From the nothingness I appeared. Bodiless, voiceless, ageless, I have only thoughts and emotions to guide me. My one connection to the world lies in the hearts of a small colony of lizards, just on the cusp of maturing. I reach out to them without hands, inspiring them to be more than what they are, shaping their bodies from visions of lost memories. But where do the memories come from? I am always left with more questions than answers. In my lonely shapeless existence the lizards cannot hear my words, and they cannot feel my touch, and I must wonder, do I even really exist? --- Called emotional, abstract, and beautiful by readers, this story is an observational account of a disembodied entity that has the power to influence and change a race of mildly intelligent lizard creatures. Memories of a previous life often serve as inspiration, but also generate questions as to whom the entity might have been before it became an Overseer. (presented in short chapters) (Thank you readers for getting my story into the top 5 ;u; ~
