《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 57

As he took his stance, the youth began to use his spiritual energy and moved it towards his spear. As he did so, he kept checking out his foe. That masked bastard got out of nowhere and ended his two pawns. He couldn't see a wristband so it was likely someone from his own faction at that.
Even as he focused on the enemy, he pondered. Did he anger someone? No, he didn't... He was truly unable to come up with a reason as to why this guy ambushed them. Not only that, seeing how the other two had been hurt...Yeah, they would die. There were no ways to save them now.
Even as the two were writhing in agony on the ground pleading for help, he could only concentrate on the opponent and ignore them. Those two while still alive were dead in the eyes of both him and his opponent. Now, there was only one thing important: his own life.
He looked at the masked man and his strange stance. He had never seen someone fight with a sword of medium length like this. How was he supposed to fight with a reverse grip? This was rather peculiar as the blade was very close to the ground.
To think the guy would take a dagger stance while using a sword, what a weirdo. Still, he wouldn't underestimate him as he managed to ambush them and kill off two at once. He would give it his all. To survive. And avenge his two followers.
For a moment, they both crept towards the other very slowly and not much at a time, they were judging the distance. Then, once he believed he was in a good position, he moved. He infused his spiritual energy to erupt in his legs and feet and forced himself forward, spear first. He planed to end it in one blow.

The spiritual energy was coating the spear as it reached forward straight for the heart of the murderer. However, as he began to close in, his opponent's sword moved and went to clash with the blade of his spear. However, it seemed like his opponent was a weakling. It didn't manage to move the spear much and he could feel that there wasn't any spiritual energy coating the opponent's weapon.
He could only snicker at the thought of it. This guy wasn't even a spiritual warrior yet he dared to challenge him? Him who was one? What a joke!
As the sword didn't manage to parry the spear, it went on its way while only being slightly deviating from the intended path. Then, the spear connected with the robe and pierced through. It pierced through the flesh next too. He had managed to pierce through the masked bastard. However, the area pierced wasn't the one he planed to pierce. The fucker had moved out of the way slightly too once he realized he had failed to block.
His spear pierced under the left shoulder of the opponent. But soon, his gloating expression faded. Why? Because a blade was going straight for his throat. Yet, he couldn't move his spear. As he looked to the spear, he saw that it was still pierced inside his foe and the right hand of the fucker was grabbing the spear. It wasn't enough to stop him from moving the spear since he was stronger but it was enough to stop him from moving it a lot quickly.
And that was what doomed him. His eyes were still fixed on the hand of the fucker as his neck was impaled by a blade. He died like this.
Jin had been quite surprised when his redirection failed. Not only had he been unable to deviate the opponent's spear, his own arm was flung harder than he expected. In a fraction of a second, he tried his best to move his body. He would be unable to dodge so since he had to be hit, it was better to make the most of it. He would use his flesh to create an opportunity.

He twisted his body just enough that the spear would go through him in a non-lethal area. Under his left shoulder. The pain was real but he could only grit his teeth. While it was the first time he experienced being hurt that much in this life, he was used to being hit back in the days. Gun wounds, blade wounds, poisons, infections, explosions, burns... He had experienced a lot.
He could not negate the pain but he could push through with willpower. And that's what he did. As the spear impaled him, he used the momentum of the previous clash to go for the guy's neck. His hand had been sent up high and it was time for it to come down.
That being said, the guy would likely be able to parry it since he was stronger. So, he used the fact that the spear was in his flesh. He grabbed the spear with his left hand as the right hand came down.
The spear technique of the opponent made it so he grabbed the weapon with both hands. Now having pierced through the flesh, he would have to retract the spear first and that meant the force was required to change, from forward to backward. Such a change meant that there would be a loss of power. The opponent would need to apply a burst of power.
But would he have been able to? Jin didn't need to stop the opponent from retracting the spear, he only needed the opponent to be able to take it out of his body. Grasping the spear meant he could just move along with it. It actively impaired the opponent and made him unable to use his weapons.
In the end, he stabbed him in the neck and killed him.
A spear user who went for a straight pierce only had two options: Kill on first hit or give up on his weapon. This guy did not give up his spear after he failed a one hit-kill and so he died.
