《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 46

He did spend the other three pills too. One was exchanged for a lighter-type artifact usable by everyone very similar to the one he had been loaned by the elders when he first arrived. A second was exchanged for a canteen that could purify water. For both, he had likely been scammed but it was fine. He really needed those.
The last pill however, he made sure not to be scammed. He exchanged it for two items that would be custom-made. Put simply, he made an order that he would come pick up in a week. It was for two masks with a special ability. It would enable the wearer to see heat.
From Jin's experience, heat-lenses were very useful. He had fought many assassins off back in the day and all those bitches had one thing in common: stealth. There is one thing they could never hide though and it was the heat emitted naturally by their bodies.
As for cultivators? They probably could. Jin had learnt alot in the past few months and one of the most important lessons was that there were no impossibilities for those people. Since they could make something to detect heat, they probably could make something to hide it.
And he was proven right after he asked a few disciples/merchants in the sect. It was possible. But their prices were beyond his expectations. They wanted more than a hundred pills in exchange. They kept saying it was because the materials needed to be able to constantly absorb the heat...Jin wasn't quite sure what they really meant as his knowledge wasn't yet up there.
However, he learnt one important thing: only someone with truly deep pockets could buy this. It was enough to shoo away his anxiety.
After his shopping spree, he went back to the library and spent the majority of his time there. The rest of his time was spent asking his friends about their experiences.

And soon enough, two weeks went by. It was time to leave and Jin was quite surprised to see so many disciples joining. There were thousands. He was having a hard time finding Soo-Hyun in this sea of people.
In the end, the sect opened its doors before he did. Considering the numbers of disciples, it was better to opent he doors instead of using the disks... Anyways, they left through the door of the sect. It was his first time leaving after joining, it made him slightly nervous. Not that much though.
The border area they would go to was labelled Border Area 27. It was quite far from the sect. Jin had estimated that they would around a month to get there. He was very wrong. The elders only led them to the capital and onto a platform. Next thing he knew, he was facing a giant wall.
Teleportation!
Only through experiencing himself could he admit it did exist. This proved that his common sense was still lacking. However, as he looked at the surrounding disciples, he noticed that they were equally surprised or excited. It was likely that such a thing wasn't used randomly and anytime.
Also, as he looked further, it seemed like they weren't the only ones who had used it this time. It was probably something specially used to send out troops. It made sense. Still, what an experience. Jin never thought he would one day experience teleportation...
But his shock didn't stop here. What was in front of him was just as impressive. A wall. So high that he couldn't even see its end, so wide that he couldn't even see its end. In fact, be it to his right, left or up, he couldn't see the end of this wall. It was a flat mud-brown wall that did not seem to have any ends.

As he was following the crowd of disciples, his eyes never once left this giant wall. It was just too impressive. Feeling like an ant...Now he knew the feeling. He couldn't help but admire the thing.
They weren't here for tourism though and soon enough, they reached a camp. The elders went to discuss with other elders while the disciples were left on their own. The camp seemed very big as well and just from quick glances, Jin spotted many kids with very different robes. It was likely that all sects all over the Empire sent people. Even those that weren't belonging to sects might have come along for the ride.
As he began to walk, he spotted Soo-Hyun. She was like him, very impressed by the sights. Fortunately, she had yet to leave the area where the elders left them. If she had rushed out to mingle with other kids... He could have given up on finding her. That being the case, he hurried to go to her.
"Soo-Hyun!" he called while waving his arm. As she turned around and saw Jin, she was surprised. It was even more surprising than the giant wall to her. After the violent exchange they had two weeks ago, she hadn't seen him once. To think he would be here to the border battle... Why was he here even though he was so against it?
As he reached her, instead of greeting him, she asked about it: "Why are you here?" and even Jin didn't expect her to be so straightforward. He replied seriously: "You're too stubborn. Since I couldn't stop you, I will at least make sure you don't go kill yourself"
She realized in a second that Jin came for her. Even though he was so against it before, he came. She was a young girl, at fourteen years old, and couldn't help feeling a little warm and fuzzy. The blush even came to her cheeks and she sttuttered as she said: "I-is that so?"
Of course, Jin never looked at her in romantic ways. He was an old man even if his body was that of a pre-adolescent. He truly only saw her like a little sister to protect. A dumb and violent one at that. But he was glad that he managed to spot her in this sea of disciples... If he had been unable to find her before they went inside... He didn't want to even think about it.
