《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 45

Now that the decision was made, it was obvious what remained. He had to prepare for war. And the most vital part of a war is information. The disciples would depart in two weeks which meant that he only had two weeks to learn as much as he could about this kind of war and his opponent.
Needless to say, the library became his new home. Jin never liked to study but during a fight, studying his opponent was a must. He never went against someone without knowing who he was. It was even more crucial this time. If he went there without knowledge, he would die. Whether or not he would be lucky enough to be given a third chance at life would be up to fate but he certainly wouldn't let this lifetime be up to fate.
It was for very simple reasons. He didn't want Soo-Hyun to die. He didn't want to die either. So he would do everything he could in his power not to be killed. And it began with information.
The first day, he spent it gathering elements regarding how the battle would be fought. And, to be honest, it seemed like a giant capture the flag. Supposedly, there were only two gates leading inside the border area. Both gates were opened but only those under the spiritual warrior level could cross. However, anyone could exit the area. Which, for one thing, meant that people could cultivate while inside.
Inside the area, there were two castles. One for each camp at their respective entrances. And inside said castles would rest a single crystal. This crystal could be taken away. If the two crystals were fused and placed in a single castle, the door on the other side would close. But this wasn't the worst part. At the same time, the rejection at their entrance would stop. It meant that you could trap the enemies and completely bypass the rules of the entrance. The winning side could send all kinds of people in from there on, spiritual warriors included.

Basically, for all those of the loser's camp, it meant death.
This might sound very simple in appearance but it was far from it. If you considered the sheer amount of people that would participate in this war... It would be one hell of a mess. But it's true that opportunities would be available. For one thing, this was a border area filled with resources. Otherwise, battles for ownership would not happen like this. This was one thing.
The second thing would likely be about scavenging from the dead. Every warrior would come with his best equipment so as to not die. But they would still die by the hundreds or even thousands. Who would be the owner of those items after those who brought them died? Whoever picked them up, that's who.
Regardless, Jin knew about the war system now. There was a very easy way out in fact. As soon as you broke through spiritual warrior, you leave. Considering that it would likely take months for this kind of fight to end, it was very doable. At the very least, Soo-Hyun who was at the peak of refinement would make it. He would only need to force her out once she managed to succeed.
As for him...It would likely be harder or rather take longer. But that was fine. He could deal with that. The problem was that he feared that someone would mess with the whole thing. The commanders in fact. It was stated that war generals would be appointed by the royalty themselves... What if it was a dumbass? What if he had to follow the orders of an idiot? He couldn't take chances.
From the rules, it was clear that the best way to survive was to be part of the defense. If the general decided to pick the Twenty-Two Suns Sect as a vanguard because they were the strongest, what then? And so, he had to prepare for this kind of horrible scenario.

He spent the rest of the day in the library reading as many books as he could about the rules and notes from previous participants.
The next day, he went to the market. Even after so long, he had yet to find an occupation worth investing himself into. He had tried a few. One thing became clear, artistry wasn't for him. Also, he was too rough for works of precision like alchemy or forging. And that meant his fortune was still non-existent.
He had no need for money until now. But because he was going to war, he needed money now. But what did he have to sell? Pills. He still had the pills given by the sect. He took a box with him to the market. In it were five pills usable between 10th and 30th stage of spiritual accumulation.
One might consider it a waste but it was not to Jin. He needed things now and those pills weren't needed now. As for whether he would be unable to get them back? He believed he would find a way when the time came. Five pills would never have been enough anyways. It was better to use them now to invest in his safety.
After all, if he died there, wouldn't they be useless anyways?
And so, he went to the market. He first exchanged one whole pill for a bag of holding. It was the only item with space properties that could be used by people who weren't yet spiritual warriors. There was a lot less space inside it compared to true space equipments but it couldn't be helped. He would need one.
He could always sell it again when he came back. It wasn't a one-time use after all.
Then, he went to exchange another pill for thirty battle robes of different designs. Designs that weren't related to sects. He picked them randomly with only two requirements: Different designs and defensive properties. They were battle robes after all and were as good in defense as leather armor.

Same Crap, Different World
A young man from early 21st century wakes up in a different world. This world is like a typical setting of an fantasy isekai novel. But it is also not. There is magic, alchemy, magical creatures, different non-human races, peasants and nobles, demons and dragons. But there is also politics, persecution, supremacism of every kind, entitlement, slavery and other unpleasant human tendencies. In short, this new world does not differ much from his old one. However, besides him, there may be others who have made such a strange trip, and awakened into this new world. There certainly have been others, in the past. But more than people and other living things, there have been items. All sorts of items, which are regarded as otherworldly artifacts with unknown danger and power. And he himself is an artifact as well, albeit a living one. Therefore he has use for the powers that be. He is also given a role and expectations to fulfill, to hide his real value. And in all that he still has to make sense of what has happened, what is happening, and find a way back, if possible. Author's note: I write this project mostly in (except chapter 1) in 60-100 page (40,000-70,000 word) chapters, edit them as such and later cut them down for publishing into 7-11 page segments (depending on natural breaks in the flow). Therefore, each chapter may be divided into 10-15 subchapters.
