《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 41

As people began to exit the arena, the entire group Jin was in was having fervent discussions. They were analyzing the fight, giving their own opinions, and were very enthusiastic about all this. Needless to say, as short as it been, the battle had been very exciting.
It could be seen from the state of the ring. It had been a flat and uniform platform spanning accross a wide area. Now? There were rocks, earth, mud everywhere. Craters, gashes... The amount of destruction was imposing. And that testified to the ferociousness of the battle.
To Jin, who had been unable to see much, seeing this ring meant a lot. From the remaining marks all over the ring, he could understand a lot. Mostly about the strength displayed by those two. It was inhuman of course. He had known and believed from the start that cultivators were stronger but this?
That's what he had been told back in the days by his parents. It turned out his parents in this world were truly country-bumpkins. What they described and what he just saw? They couldn't be compared. Up until now, he had believed cultivators to be warriors like he had been. He believed that only the strength in their bodies grew. He was so wrong. He could see the melting rocks all over the place, still fuming from the intense heat they suffered from.
Jin couldn't comprehend this kind of power. It was no longer the martial arts that he knew of. It was more. It was beyond it.
As he walked, lost in his thoughts, they exited the arena. Seung-Ja invited the entire group to her house and they all agreed. They wanted to stay together and keep discussing about the fight. It had brought them a lot. Seeing a battle of an higher stage did provide indirect pointers to those of lower stages who had the talent and ability to perceive it. All of the group members were talented and had benefitted from it. Now, they wanted to chat about those benefits with the others to maybe complement them.

Jin followed. He wasn't quite aware of his surroundings, still disgesting the sights. He was truly lost in his thoughts. This fight truly opened his eyes. It turned out that he had underestimated what a cultivator was all along. It's true that he hadn't even tried to learn more about the higher realms and what cultivators could do... But how could he have even considered this? He didn't know such frightening might could be displayed. He didn't know what a cultivator was.
Now that he had witnessed the true ability of a strong cultivator... It left him stunned. And unexpectedly, while everyone remained focus on talking about the battle, it was Chong-Oh that deliberately went to the end of the group and spoke to Jin:" Little brother Jin, you seem lost in your thoughts? Is something the matter?"
Jin gazed at the fatty who had a bright and gentle smile on his face. He couldn't help but sigh as he told him: " I didn't know cultivators could be this strong. Realizing I was no more than a frog in a well...It pains me. I am angry at myself for having been so complacent about all this, not taking it seriously enough"
The fatty nodded, still smiling the same way, as he said: " What did you think ?" and Jin answered: " That cultivators were stronger warriors than the average men? It's far from it " The fatty laughed lightly as he explained: " Cultivation is going against the heavens by harnessing the energy of the world. We absorb the spiritual energy and little by little, we become capable of feats beyond mortals. That being said, we are still warriors in a way."
Jin thoughtfully agreed with the words of the fatty. In the end, he found himself truly lacking. To think that he was in a different world yet still thought as if he was in the previous one... He really underestimated this world. His lack of basic knowledge seemed to be far heavier than expected and detrimental.

However, the fatty reassured him: " Being shocked about it is one thing but what you should thrive to do is understand. I believe that there was a lot to learn from this fight, don't you agree? " Jin nodded. While he hadn't seen anything, it was obvious there would have been a lot to learn from the two. A fight of this level could help considerably. Back in his old world, watching stronger fighters and professionnals while he was still a student did help him a lot.
The fatty went on with an admirative smile on his face: " I believe that it was when...-
From there, the fatty began to discuss the fight with Jin, explaining every part. Though it didn't take more than a few seconds for others to join in on the fun. For once, Jin decided to listen closely, even asking many questions. It was time to shed his past self. The battle truly opened his eyes. He needed to stop considering himself a master but return to being a student. It wasn't just cultivation realms that he lacked. If he refrained from learning now that he knew how much he was lacking, wouldn't he be a pig?
It was fortunate that he had realized all this early on. Well, early enough that he had yet to mess up. He hoped he had yet to mess up... Anyways, from here on out, he needed to stop fooling around. How could he ever defeat powerful warriors like those if he didn't even know how they managed to be so strong?
As they kept chatting along the way and at Seung-Ja's house, Jin learnt a lot even though there was even more he didn't understand. He could only swallow the bitter pill and start learning from tomorrow on. Not being able to even discuss a fight, to a master like him, was painful. What elemental explosion? What spiritual retroaction? What strong dependance on circuitry?... This was without a doubt a wake-up call.

Any input helps a ton! I do take suggestions seriously. I have 30+ chapters written ahead of time but they still need some polishing and editing to post each one. Please point out any errors you find in the comments! I read every one and reply to most! Release schedule is not set in stone right now as my schedule is very hectic. I promise I will not drop this and try to post at least every other day. Every 3 Days max. Thanks again for taking the time to read my story! NOTE: THERE WILL BE COMBAT, BRUTALITY, MINOR GORE AND MINOR LANGUAGE. Also minor romantic situations. If it gets out of hand I'll add the tags for it. 11/30/17 I just updated some middle chapters. There were some bad spelling and grammar mistakes. In my defense I posted those chapters on my honeymoon lol. It should flow better now. I know the prologue is still troublesome but give it a shot beyond that. It gets much better. 12/5/17 I have been updating some of the earlier chapters. Nothing canon changing but it’s fleshed out a bit and flows better. Also fixed some glaring mistakes.

The Shattered Circle
Aleyr Frostborn has survived a hundred prophecies of her defeat, breaking each one by slaying the champions of light sent to kill her. Amongst the forces of good, her very name is a curse, and with good reason. Beyond her own evil, it is said that so long as she lives, the reign of the Godslayer himself will last: the lich king who the terrified masses call the King in Black. With one foretold hero brutally snuffed out, another will inevitably arise. For Aleyr, the cycle only further embitters her towards the gods of good and all those who serve them. But the truth is that her downfall might be something much closer to home than their prophecies, those last dregs of mortality beating inside her own chest. After all, many things can be broken, not just prophecies.
