《Re:Direction The Peak (Cultivation Tale)》CH. 6

The silver robed elder, along with everyone else, gazed at the little kid standing on the platform. They were stunned in silence. With the sun reflecting his figure from behind, it created the image of a little warrior brimming with might and confidence. It wasn't a sight displeasing to the sect's people. And to the crowd, it was incredible. The cheers began and did not seem to stop.

The silver robed elder nodded and turned towards the other examiners. This time, the previously confident examiners were slightly anxious. They knew the might of that petite girl. She was one of theirs after all and they spent a year with her. She was a tough one. And that one destroyed her in one move? Eh, they didn't feel like fighting him. Yet, the gaze of the elder was piercing enough that they knew they had no choice in the matter.

One of them walked up. It was a guy with a saber. He was lifted on top of the disk and before the elder could start the fight, Jin requested a similar saber. He was given just that. Then, the fight began. This opponent was warier than the first one and it was one that had yet to fight previously. So, Jin remained on his guard and took a stance.

He had the saber in a reverse grip with his left arm.

The disciple walked towards Jin as Jin moved at the same pace. Battles between armed opponents were very different. The range of attacks was greater so it required more thinking. Especially for Jin who had to fight a stronger opponent. They circled around each other as they tested the waters and no one seemed to be ready to make the first move.

Jin's opponent was careful this time. So, he decided to bait him. He left an opening by going just a step closer than supposed to, where he was seemingly in a bad position. Of course, that would have been the case with a different stance but not this one. Though his opponent was unaware of that and fell for it.

As he began to bring the saber upwards, Jin moved too. While the saber was reaching the pinnacle of its height, Jin's left hand, holding the saber, came into contact with his opponent’s right hand. His opponents had been holding his saber with his right hand. When the two handles hit onto each other, a strange thing happened.

The disciple had been moving his hand upwards so a downward slash could be used. Considering the might difference, there was no way a non-cultivator could block it. Even less dodge when they were this close. And he was right. Jin would be unable to block such a slash. But that was not his goal at all. Jin mirrored the upwards movement so both handles collided.

The upward movement was accelerated to the point that the disciple lost control of the saber movement and his arm was forced even further behind, further from the goal of slashing downwards. On the other hand, Jin used the recoil that pushed his hand downward to create momentum in spinning his other arm. The fist made from his right hand, accelerated by the spin due to the shock of handles, was brought straight onto the temple of his opponent.

The disciple, still trying to focus on regaining control of his saber hand couldn't even react to the punch. Once again, a disciple hit the disk head first and passed out. It was Jin's second victory and this time after using a completely different kind of battle style. The cheers of the crowd were instantaneous this time. The kid was thrown down and caught right away by the elder who thought it might happen again.

That disciple was simply laid down next to the others without being given any treatment. He hadn’t earned anything yet so there was nothing to give him.

Once again, Jin asked for a new opponent to come up. Another guy got up on the disk. It was another that hadn't fought yet. He had a spear over his shoulder and he pointed a finger at Jin while he said: " Come! Show me your blade skills! "

He was, however, ignored by Jin. Instead, Jin threw down the saber to the elder and asked for a spear. The disciple became embarrassed, annoyed and angry. Not only was he ignored, his challenge was not even given weight at all. It was as if the kid in front of him wasn't putting him in his eyes at all. Not only was this kid ill-behaved and arrogant but the overall crowd of randoms behind him weren't making it any easier on his ego.

He was being boo'ed and made fun of.

Even though he was one of the very few who managed to get into the top sect of the empire? Even though he was a true elite cultivator? He was being mocked by mere mortals? His fury reached new levels as he coldly spoke: " You will die by this spear" to which the kid who now held a spear of his own spoke: "no, you" and took a stance.

He was irritated. But remained calm. It was a battle. Feelings were irrelevant now. As an elite, he knew what he had to do. He went into a forward stance with his spear ready to pierce the enemy. On the other hand, Jin, who noticed that his opponent regained his calm, took a different stance.

He was facing his opponent with the very same stance. Well, that is, if you didn't include the position of his arms. While his opponent had the tip of the spear facing towards him, he had the spear tip pointing to the right side. It was to the point that his spear was perpendicular to his opponent's. If they had been in contact, it would have created a perfect '+' form.

This seemed like he was taunting his opponent even though he wasn't. The spear wielding disciple charged forward, propelling himself with his feet with all his might. And the direction? Jin's heart.
