《The Immortal Mutant Teen》Chapter 108 - Behind The Veil

Acheron picked up the suitcase from the ground and turned around, only to be met with another comical scene. Akeno looked lifeless as if her soul had escaped her body, she kept muttering to herself. While Sakura was patting her back trying to comfort her.
"hehasachild hehasachild hehasachild hehasachild…"
The two girls from the student council looked at him weirdly. Akira, the student president, looked at him like he had betrayed all of her high expectations of him. Yui, on the other hand, looked at him, like it was expected of him like he was a man whore.
He turned to look at Amazoness, who had the most outrageous reaction of them all, fury. Amazoness was furious, Acheron had lied to her, he had told her that he couldn't have kids but here he is with a daughter.
"You told me you couldn't have kids!!" Amazoness roared,
Acheron chuckled, not bothering with her anger.
"I can't have kids, that is the truth, but is also true that she's my daughter," Acheron said,
"You adopted her?" Sakura asked, confused at what he said.
"No, I created her," Acheron responded,
"Of course you did! You fucked some bitch and now you have a daughter! I demand you tell me where this bitch is so I can fight her to the death!" Amazoness exclaimed,
"No, what I meant was that I literally created her, she's an A.I," Acheron said calmly.
Hearing this, Akeno came out of her soulless state.
"AI?" Akeno asked,
Acheron nodded,
"As in Artificial Intelligence," Acheron said,
"Oh, so she's not real?" Amazoness asked calming down,
Acheron smiled at Amazoness,
"No, she's real," Acheron stated,
"What do you mean by that?" asked Sakura,
"Spoilers~," Acheron said mysteriously.
"Anyway, it's time for me to go,"
Akeno stepped forward,
"Wait! There's a party at Student President's house tonight, would you like to come with us?" Akeno asked hopefully,
Acheron smiled wryly,
"Sorry girls, I have my own party to go to tonight,"
"Oh…" exclaimed Akeno dejectedly,
Acheron stepped forward and patted her head, messing up her hair and mask.

"Maybe next time, let's go, Rose,"
"Yes, Acheron-sama," Rose responded,
Just as she was beginning to walk away, she left some words for the girls.
"Don't stay out too late, girls, things go bump in the night, especially tonight…." Rose warned,
"It was my displeasure to meet all of you, but if you will excuse me, I have I date with Acheron-sama. Ha-ha!"
"Rose!" Acheron called,
"Coming!" Rose left hurriedly,
The girls were left there staring at the two's back as they left.
"I don't like her," stated Amazoness,
"Agreed!" Said the rest of the girls,
"Sakura," Sakura's father called,
"She's right, don't stay out too long, be home by 10 or I'll have someone come get you,"
"If you do that I'll post, this embarrassing picture of you on the web," Threatened Sakura, pulling out her phone and showing her father the picture of him during the concert.
The Saegusa Clan head paled before clearing his throat.
"Ahem!... Just be home before midnight, okay?"
…
Acheron and Rose walked out into the streets of Tokyo. The sky was dark, no moon was out, and the night was getting colder and colder as time went on. To Acheron, the cold meant nothing as he still wore his Punisher t-shirt, while Rose's "costume" suit was insulated and allowed her to keep the cold out.
The streets of Japan's capital were busy with people. Some were in costumes, hanging out with their friends. Others are headed to work as Japan doesn't really consider Halloween a holiday and has only caught on in Japan in the last couple of years.
"Tell me, Rose, what do you see?" Asked Acheron as they walked next to each other, their destination currently unknown to Rose.
"Children playing, wearing costumes, and cosplaying. People just walking to their destinations, nothing out of the ordinary, really, just regular folks," answered Rose.
"Are you sure? Look again," Acheron said with a smile.
Hearing what Acheron said, Rose paid more attention this time, she scanned the crowd once again but still couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. Everyone seemed like regular folk to her in costumes.

Rose shook her head in defeat,
"I'm sorry, Acheron-sama, I couldn't find anything suspicious," said Rose,
"Sometimes you got to know what to look for when trying to see past the veil," Acheron said as he walked along the sidewalk,
"10 meters behind us, the group with the cat ears and tails," Acheron told Rose,
Rose looked behind her and spotted the group Acheron was talking about. She gave a quick scan, but nothing seemed out of place. She turned to look at Acheron, trying to get the answer from him.
"They are Cat People, the ears on the side of their head are fake," Acheron simply stated,
Rose's eyes widened in surprise and looked again. She finally noticed that the ears were some kind of hyper-realistic prosthetic.
"Across the street, the group with the dog ears and tails, same thing. These groups are part of the Beast tribes. Those that are mostly humans but have some animal characteristics. Fun fact, almost all Beast people in the world live in Japan, due to the Japanese's fascination with their kind, unlike everywhere else where it just appears weird." Acheron said,
"They seem to blend in perfectly, how is that be possible?" Rose asked curiously,
"There is a place here, where they can work and be themselves without no one being the wiser," Acheron said,
"You mean Akihabara?" Rose said,
"Yup, that's the place. Usually, all those restaurants and stores are owned by the Beast tribe. They work and live their lives among everyone else. But of course, they are the lucky ones as they look mostly human. As long as no one finds out the truth, the government will turn a blind eye to it,"
Acheron then makes a turn at the intersection and continues walking.
"Another fun fact, Beast people can reproduce with both were-animals and were-humans and of course, human."
"But, unlike the Beast people, some have it harder than others, even if they look mostly or fully human. A prime example would be the beautiful lady just in front of us…" Acheron said,
Rose looked in the direction Acheron motioned at and saw a beautiful lady in a blue kimono. Her skin was as white as snow, her eyes were a piercing blue, like glaciers, even when her face showed absolutely no emotion and her hair was black and white, it shimmered in the light like icicles.
"Yuki-onna, or snow women as their known in other parts of the world, their bodies are both a blessing and a curse. They can survive temperatures well below zero, with minimal clothing. As they grow older their body temperature continues to drop until death. The most powerful ones can freeze water molecules in the air and create ice, a cryokinesis of sorts. Some can even turn their blood into something comparable to liquid nitrogen," Acheron explained as they continued to head towards the woman standing in the middle of the sidewalk, looking at something towards the glass.
"Unfortunately, they still need heat to survive. They must keep their bodies at a constant temperature that their bodies can handle, or they could literally turn into ice statues. They fulfill this need for heat by owning and working at hot springs, as the natural heat saves them from using technology that has the possibility to fail them since their lives depend on it.
Their race is female only and their low body temperatures tend to push males away. Usually, all reproduction of their species is done in hot spots, mostly underwater, where both the male and the female can be comfortable, as a yuki-onna's body fluids have the potential to freeze the men." Acheron continued to explain,
"There seems to be something wrong with her, Acheron-sama…" Rose said,
"I'm guessing she hasn't been to a heat source in a while, and her body has begun to freeze, the more they move, the colder they get. They usually don't go into cities like this, she must be new to these parts, as they usually never come down from their homes unless it's important…
Rose, let's give her a hand…"
