《The Immortal Mutant Teen》Chapter 99 - Halloween Day
Advertisement
Down below on the third sublevel, Acheron sat with his legs crossed and eyes closed in the middle of a wrestling ring. A popping and crunching sound echoed through the empty gym. Acheron was currently in the middle of a very delicate process, he was creating his Halloween "costume".
Acheron's first evolution granted him the ability to absorb the powers and genetic codes of other mutants. While his second evolution he was granted the ability to combine powers and genes. Back in England, Acheron had used this ability while in his werewolf form when he ate the head of the Vamp and stole his memories, a power no werewolf could ever have.
Right now, Acheron was both creating and rearranging organs, muscles, and bones to his base form. To be able to do this so flawlessly, Acheron has spent centuries researching every single race, down to the point he even experimented and did biopsies on himself while transformed. This would explain Acheron's indifference to pain as he would have to be wide awake as he cut himself open, not that sedatives would have worked in the first place.
*Splash*
A tail erupted from Acheron's lower back; blood spread everywhere before evaporating into purple smoke. A 5-foot prehensible monkey's tail twitched behind Acheron before a black goo oozed from out the tail creating a carapace-like armor around it.
*Shink* *Shink*
A sharp stinger quickly came out from the tip before receding into the now scorpion-like tail.
After the tail was done, Acheron's long black hair suddenly fell off, leaving Acheron bald. Just above where his hairline used to be, Acheron's skin split open and 2 ant-like antennae slowly grew from his head. Once the antennae were fully extended, they began to move up and down as if sniffing the air.
Suddenly, red and yellow hair started to sprout from his head and quickly grew to his previous length. The hair suddenly began to move and raise itself as if Acheron was suddenly affected by static. The hair started to braid itself, with Acheron never even moving his hands.

The top of his hair made itself into one lone French braid, while the sides of his head split into 3 equal but smaller parts and French braided themselves towards the back, joining the largest braid. Once his hair was done, Acheron opened his eyes.
All 8 of them.
Acheron currently had 4 pairs of eyes, one pair on his forehead, another just below where his regular set, and one eyeball just between his temples and his eyes. Each pair of eyes had their sclera a different color, the ones on his forehead were an electric blue, while the pair on his upper cheeks were red, the eyes near his temple on the right side of his head matched the pitch-black color of Acherons right eye, and the ones on the left side of his face were violet in color.
The color of each iris was white, and each eye had four pupils inside. Each eye moved independently as they moved in all directions as Acheron checked for any abnormalities with his procedure and 3 new pairs of eyes. He then closed his eyes and they remained closed. Currently, his eyesight was so powerful that he was able to see through solid objects, on top of that Arachne's eyes have a special ability to induce fear in those who meet their eyes. A power that has helped the Arachne hunt their "mates" for centuries.
"Athena?" Acheron called as he stood up,
Athena manifested in front of Acheron, she looked as beautiful as always except today half her face was gone and in its place was the face of T-800 with its metal skull and glowing red mechanical eyes.
"Yes, Darling?" Answered Athena, her voice was laced with a robotic element.
"Love the look, Athena, Good Job!... Anyway, is our victim in place?" Acheron asked with a sadistic smile, his tail moving in excitement.
Half of Athena's face match Acheron's smile before replying,
"She's currently in the kitchen making breakfast…"
"Good, open emergency hatch #45 and make a path for the kitchen," Acheron said,

"Yes, Darling," Athena said,
As she finished her words, one of the panels on the roof suddenly slid open, Acheron smiled before leaping up and disappearing into the tunnel.
…
On the 2nd sublevel, Rose was making a typical Greek breakfast for her and Acheron. She was making a platter of omelets, marmalades, yogurt, pastries, cheese pies, and some chopped veggies.
But, she had an ulterior motive for waking up so early. Last year, Acheron had scared her just as she was waking up, she knew if she was caught lacking last year but this year she was ready. Rose woke up and immediately took the most tactical position in the kitchen, where she would be able to see Acheron come up from the elevator. This way she can prevent Acheron from proceeding with his yearly plans.
As she cooked, she suddenly sensed danger and stopped all movement. Acheron was coming, every instinct in her body was screaming at her that Acheron was coming. Just then, she saw the elevator move to the 3rd floor and stopping before continuing up towards the 2nd floor. Rose gripped her knife and slowed her breathing.
*Ding*
The elevator arrived, the sound causing Rose flinched slightly and the doors opened. She stared intently only to find the elevator to be empty. Rose let out a sigh of relief, she chuckled to herself, and just as she was ready to continue to cook, she stopped, something told her to look up.
She slowly raised her eyes and her world went dark. The last thing she saw before passing out was meeting eight eyes and the illusion of a gigantic spider staring at her.
Acheron caught Rose before she hit her head on the floor, he chuckled a little, he knew it was a bit mean for him to do this to Rose but he can't help himself and has always been doing it to his family since the inception of Halloween back when the Celtics celebrated it almost 2,000 years ago, back then it was called the Festival of Samhain.
Usually, Rose's training would have kicked in to stop her from feeling any fear, but Rose had one weakness and that was her severe arachnophobia. In front of spiders, all of Rose's training goes out the window and she freezes up.
Acheron laid Rose on the couch as he continued to make breakfast in her place, he added some extra portions since his current hybrid body craves vast amounts of food, mostly human flesh due to the insect parts but Acheron just curves those feeling to the side.
….
The International Festival was underway, though it doesn't open to the public until 10 am, the students can enjoy it just to themselves from 7 am to 10 am. Until then you can either enjoy the festivities or if you have a performance later on in the day, this would be the time to get an extra little bit of practice if they so desired.
Akeno and Sakura were currently waiting and talking by the school gate. Akeno wore a stunning white and red shrine princess outfit with a white and black fox mask. Sakura, on the other hand, wore a full-body, skin-tight Spider-Gwen costume, her hair covered by the white hood.
"Do you think Father will come today?... lots of parents come today to be their children…" Sakura asked,
"I don't know, your father is a busy man…" Responded Akeno,
*VRROOOOM*
*SCREEEEECH*
Akeno and Sakura were startled as suddenly a black and orange De Tomaso P72 headed towards the school gate at startling speeds before drifting into a parking spot. You could hear the music blasting from inside the car. Everyone stopped and looked towards the car, there were curious about who was so arrogant and crazy to do that with all these important children around.

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
