《The Immortal Mutant Teen》Chapter 76- The Oncoming Festival

Acheron walked up to the two girls waiting for him with wry smiles on their faces. They both had seen what just happened and found Acheron's aggressive response very unnerving.
"You didn't have to embarrass him like that in front of a crowd… Yuuki-kun means no harm" said Sakura
"Who?" Acheron asked,
"The boy you just made piss himself! The son of Japan's largest and wealthiest banker? Number 2 in the school's 'Most Handsome' Rankings? Sound familiar?!"
Acheron looked confused; he genuinely had no idea what she seemed to be talking about.
"What are you talking about?" Acheron asked,
"Don't tell me you forgot about him already?!" Sakura exclaimed and then pointed behind him at the boy who still laid on the ground.
Acheron turned around; a face of realization appeared on his face.
"He was just unlucky, he caught me in a slightly bad mood"
"Slightly bad?! You almost killed him!" Sakura said,
Akeno giggled at Acheron's response, she felt it was exactly something he would do. To her, Acheron was free and wild, completely unhindered in the way he spoke and did things.
"Oh well! He's alive, isn't he? His luck must not be so bad" Acheron said with a chuckle.
"You!...." A vein seemed to pop on her forehead, she wanted to continue admonishing him but couldn't find the words.
"Now, now Sakura," Akeno said as she patted Sakura on the shoulder trying to calm her down.
"Everything's fine right?"
"Hmph!" Sakura said as she turned away,
"Anyways… where did you get the gun?" Akeno asked,
"Oh, that? I borrowed it," Acheron said with a mysterious smile.
"From whom?" asked Akeno,
"You don't seem to be one to use guns in a fight"
Acheron chuckled,
"You know, In the Art of War, Sun Tzu once said… 'Stay Strapped or Get Clapped'"

Acheron said that so matter of factly that for a split second Akeno believed him.
Akeno smacked him on the chest playfully,
"Pffftt! Ahaha! No, he didn't!"
Acheron smiled,
"In today's era, he would."
Acheron then looked at Sakura who seemed to be covering her mouth, trying to stop herself from laughing.
"Still, I have a question…" Acheron said as he looked around him,
"What's going on in the school? Did I miss something?"
As Acheron looked around, he noticed streamers being hung up on the wall, all kinds of decorations and posters were on the school walls, further away from him, food stalls were being constructed.
"Oh Right! You don't know!" Akeno said,
"Its almost the school's International Food and Music Festival"
"Really? A festival?" Acheron asked,
Sakura finally turned around and began to explain things.
"This school does it every year on Halloween, it's one of Japan's most popular and famous events!" Sakura said,
"The school hires the best chefs from around the world and has them cook for the festival! Chefs like Gordon Ramsey will be here"
"Oh?"
Acheron has of course met Chef Ramsey before, how could he not? Acheron loved to cook and eat.
Sakura continued to explain more about the events,
"The music is usually paid live at The Colosseum by the students, each club chooses and sends people to play some sort of song for everyone to hear. The Music Club usually has someone for the main event, last year it was Kotone-san and this year is also….. Ah! We need to find Kotone-san!"
Sakura finally remembered why she needs to take Acheron to find Kotone, it was the whole reason for dragging him along with them again.
"Huh? Wait! Hold on! Don't drag me!" Acheron exclaimed,
"I want to know more about the food!"

Akeno caught up quickly,
"All the chefs that will appear are on the school's website, you can look there for more information… Slow down Sakura! The building isn't going anywhere!"
Sakura finally slowed down and stopped dragging Acheron along with her.
"Thanks, Akeno" Acheron said with a smile that caused her to blush.
Acheron then pulled out his phone and tapped away on the screen.
As the slowly made their way to the Music building, Acheron still looked down on his phone but this time he talked about the chefs on the list.
"Oooh, I like his food!... His food is good, but he uses too much salt…. She makes great seafood dishes, definitely visiting her again… Oh, Man! I can't wait!"
Akeno just continued to watch Acheron talk to himself with a smile and blush on her face. Sakura, on the other hand, found Acheron dismissal of their company a little annoying.
'Aren't we two goddesses of this school? Why is he ignoring us for some chefs?!' Sakura thought.
Suddenly,
"Look out!" Someone shouted.
Sakura turned to look only to see a steel beam toppling towards her. She froze in fright; she closed her eyes tightly waiting for her end.
"Sakura!" Akeno exclaimed,
But before she could make a move, someone already did.
*CLANK*
The last thing that Sakura heard was the steel beam coming in contact with her skull, or at least that was she thought.
Sakura slowly opened her eyes when she realized nothing happened to her. Her eyes widened in surprise as she saw the steel beam just a foot away from her face and a single finger holding it in place.
She turned to look behind her, she wanted to see whose arm belonged to that finger that extended from behind her just next to her head. She wanted to see who saved her life.
She couldn't believe her eyes as she saw Acheron standing behind her. What was even more unexpected was that Acheron had his head lowered still swiping up and down the screen of his phone.
Sakura wasn't the only one shocked silly, the workers and students that were around and saw what happened, stood there with their mouths wide open.
Akeno stood there, still processing what she had just seen. She saw as Acheron glided towards Sakura like a ghost and just as the beam was going to hit her, Acheron's hand blurred out of existence and turned into a spear that stopped the beam in place.
Acheron did all that while still looking at his phone, it was as if his body moved automatically.
Acheron retracted his finger before grabbing it, the metal groaned as he tightened his hold on it. In front of everyone, Acheron lifted the beam over his and Sakura's head as if it was made of Styrofoam with a single arm. Acheron finally put his phone away.
You need to know that the average steel beam weighs about 2000 pounds. How much arm strength would a person need to be able to do that?
Acheron then walked up to where the beam toppled over and put it down at its original place.
"Well?! Aren't you going to weld it in place?! I'm not going to stand here all day holding it in place, you know!?" Acheron exclaimed at the construction workers holding the welder in their hand.
Snapping out of their amazement, the workers immediately went to work. When it was done, Acheron walked back to the girls that were still looking at him in amazement.
"What? Is there something weird on my handsome face?" Acheron asked with a smile.

The Mortal Acts
The Mortal Acts is an epic progression fantasy with a lower focus on training aspects and a great focus on discovering new ways of using powers intelligently. I've always been drawn to stories where characters use their powers creatively to overcome opponents and obstacles, and I think all the possibilities can provide a great playground for twists and turns. It's inspired by a variety of media, including Will Wight's Cradle, Hunter x Hunter, and Bioshock, so if you like the creative power use elements from those, come check it out. This is my first serial, and please feel free to leave comments and feedback. For backstory, behind-the-scenes, and other fun stuff, come chat on my discord! Become a patron to read up to 20 chapters ahead here! Blurb: Riven Morell cuts short his regular life at school and home when his mother falls terminally ill. Desperate to find a cure, he travels to Severance Frontier, a desolate land haunted by hordes of ghosts, witches, and demons collectively called the Deathless. But a miraculous cure doesn’t magically fall into his hands. Things are worse in Severance Frontier than Riven had assumed. Ghosts are banding together into armies, demons are kidnapping anyone who strays out of settlements, and witches are enslaving everyone left and right. Riven, of course, gets embroiled in the mess. Missions to curb the Deathless activity are one thing, but when it starts to look like this is just the beginning of a war that extends beyond the mortal realm, Riven has a hard time focusing on why he came to Severance Frontier in the first place. His mother is inching towards death with every passing day, but if he doesn’t face down the Deathless, what little civilization the Frontier holds will be overrun and destroyed. Thankfully, it looked like the Deathless might just hold the secret of the elusive cure.
