《The Immortal Mutant Teen》Chapter 19 - The Trio's Questions

On the other side of Tokyo, inside the Saegusa Clan's ancestral home, the trio of Sakura, Akeno, and Sora are heading towards the Clan Head's study room. When they near her father's study, the old family butler can be seen closing the door behind him,
"Hey Alfred, is Father in the study?"
With a polite bow, Alfred greets the trio before him, "Hello Young Lady, Young Master, Lady Watanabe, yes, Master is in his study, I just delivered his afternoon tea and should be resting for now"
"Thank you, Alfred, we just want to ask him some questions, you can continue with your work," Sakura says before walking towards the door.
Alfred steps aside and gives a slight bow as they pass him. He straightens his back and continues towards his next task.
Sakura knocks on the door and waits for a response, "Who is it?"
"It's me, Father, we just arrived from school and would like to ask you some questions" Sakura stated.
"Oh, Sakura! Come in!" her Father says.
When they walk, they saw the Father of both Sakura and Sora and the current Clan Head of Saegusa, Saegusa Eiji. A high talent in business as well as gifted in martial arts has led Saegusa Eiji to be one of Japan's most powerful men.
With his genius, he led an already thriving company to the monstrous conglomerate it is today, becoming the second biggest company in all of Japan.
After the death of his wife, Saegusa Eiji became a workaholic, spending whatever time he puts aside for his breaks to spend with his children, his afternoon tea time, being one of those occasions.
"We met someone today, and we wanted to ask you if you knew anything about his family," Sakura says as she stands in front of her father's desk.

"Did this person offend you? don't worry Father will take care of it!" though he hardly spends time with his children, it does not mean he doesn't love them he loves spoiling Sakura every chance he gets. He also never remarried, saying that their mother was the only one for him in this lifetime.
Stomping her feet at her father's words "No Father! He is a new student that just transferred in today, it is the information we got off him that made him seem weird"
"Hoh~ a boy huh? So, tell me, what is so weird about his background?" looking at his daughter he sipped his tea quietly.
"He is extremely rich by just looking at his clothes, his suit probably costs as much as my whole wardrobe combined, and it was what he said about his family that was weird, he said he was an orphan and so were the rest of his family, all 14 of them.
What kind of family full of orphans can transfer him into our school? I'm sure it would be extremely difficult even for you, Father" She continued her rant about this boy and told him all that he knew and did.
Her father rubbed his chin in interest at what Sakura was telling him "What an interesting fellow, so what is this fellow's name?"
Sora pitched in at this moment, "He said he was called Acheron Belau, Father, I can tell…. this guy is dangerous"
Saegusa Eiji was calmly sipping on his tea until he heard the boy's surname.
In his panic, he crushed the cup in his hand sending hot tea everywhere. Sakura seeing her Father's reaction and what happened, she also panicked,
"Father! Are you okay?!?" she exclaimed.
Not paying attention to the tea that was now all over him and his desk, he looked at the trio "W-w-what did you say his name was?!"

"Acheron Belau," they said.
The Clan Head visibly paled in front of them as he sank deeper in his chair. The trio started to get worried, who could this boy be that caused him to panic like that?
"Father, tell us! What do you know? Who is he? Why do you seem so scared?" Sakura says.
The Clan Head was silent for a couple of minutes, he wiped the tea of his face with slightly trembling hands. With a whisper, he asked them, "Did you offend the boy?"
Sora was feeling a little nervous, but also, he was feeling angry at his father for showing such weakness at the boys' name,
"Father? What has gotten in-"
The Clan Head suddenly stood up and slammed his hands onto the desk in front of him, "DID YOU OFFEND THE BOY?!?!?! ANSWER ME!!!!" he roared.
The trio had no choice but to flinch and retreat at the Clan Head's sudden outburst.
Sakura scared, tried to calm her father down, "NO Father! We didn't! I believe we are on friendly terms, started to become friends maybe"
Hearing her words, the Clan Head visibly calmed down and sat back in his chair, now with a pensive look on his face with his hand covering his mouth in contemplation.
Sakura seeing that her father calmed down, asked again "Father, what do you know? Do you know him?"
Looking up at the trio, he sighed before sitting up straight in his chair "I have never heard of the boy, but I do know of the Belau Family"
"You heard of them, Father? How come they were never mentioned by you?" Sakura asked.
Looking at his daughter, he couldn't help but sigh again, "Out all the people in the world, how would I have known you would meet with one of those 14 monsters?"
"Monsters? Why do you call them that? Are they that terrifying?" Sora chimed in, he still couldn't wrap his head around on the fact that is father, of all people, is scared of this small group of people known as the Belau Family.
"Terrifying? No, they are more than that, I would rather assassinate the president of the United States than to even offend one of their family members" The Clan Head looking right into the eyes of the trio, letting them know he was completely serious.
Akeno and Sakura gasp at his statement, while Sora just widens his eyes in surprise.
The Saegusa Clan Head just stated that he would rather kill one of the world's most important men and bring the whole world upon his head than to offend this family.

Fates Parallel is my first serious attempt at writing a story, and a personal love letter to Eastern fantasy and xianxia stories. It's heavily inspired by East Asian culture, folklore, and mythology, with what is likely going to be a decidedly Western artistic license. I try to write every day, with a goal of about 45,000 words per month (~1500 per day). Chapter lengths are around 3000 words on average, releasing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Cover art drawn by the incredibly talented Tsuu (TsurotArtistry).
