[Stark Tower- A few minutes later]
“What have I to fear?” Loki asked Tony.
“The avengers and a self-proclaimed Ancient order which an absolute greedy douchebag belongs to,” Tony said as he poured himself a drink, finally understanding why Natasha never liked him.
“Avengers? Ancient order?” Loki asked.
“Avengers is what we call ourselves. Ancient Order I have no idea, frankly I think it’s the pineapple head’s way of bullshitting to appeal to make up to his lover, but I wouldn’t underestimate him if I were you. He has always been preparing for this moment a long time ago. That pineapple had even prepped the Hulk for this moment.” Tony stated without any fear.
Loki looked at Tony in surprise hearing that. “Who is it?”
“I doubt you would know him, but his name is David Henswick. I just call him pineapple head since he is an exotic breed just like pineapples. I would definitely be worried if I were you; if something happened to the girl, who dumped his sorry ass, from whatever plans you have. Frankly, that idiot doesn’t take rejection well in my opinion. The things that happened to those that went after her is pretty gruesome.”
Loki smirked as he realised there was no way anyone from Midgard could have foreseen this. ‘Not even I could have seen the Mad titan lending me a helping hand.’ “It’s useless stalling me with lies. Even if he would come after me I would crush him just like I will crush every single of you mortals.”
Tony smirked hearing that. “Sure, but then aren’t you curious how your brother got his power so quickly when he was here?”
Loki’s brows furrowed as the smug look wiped off his face. “The story goes that he told your brother how to get his powers which your father sealed in apparently. Now that is one guy I do not want to mess with. Even your father and that Himedeli guy…”
“Heimdall.” Loki interrupted to correct Tony with a little bit of worry.
“Yeah whatever Pinocchio, the thing is they warned your brother to only seek help of him when it is absolutely necessary. Not to mention he was able to close the rift opened by the tesseract. So, tell me what does 2 ancient Nordic gods see in a mere mortal like him?”
Something screamed at Loki that some unknown factors were getting involved in his plan.
“Not to mention, your brother the demigod, the super-soldier the living legend-who kind of live up to the legend, a man with breathtaking anger management issues, couple of master assassin and you… big fella.” Tony said while pointing at Loki.
“You managed to piss off every single one of them.”

“That was the plan,” Loki stated with a false smile.
“Not a great plan,” Tony said as he came from behind the counter.
“When they come, and they will come! They will come for you.” Tony walked towards Loki.
“I have an army.”
“We have a hulk and I hate to say this but a man even 2 mythical Nordic beings are wary off,” Tony stated.
“I thought the beast had wandered off. Then this David, if he was so powerful why isn’t he here to stop me? That means he can’t help you or you are just lying.” Loki countered.
“Yeah, you are missing the point here. There is no throne. There is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it’s too much for us, but it is all on you. Because if we can’t protect the earth then you can damn well sure we will avenge it.” Tony replied as he drank his glass of expensive drink.
Loki walked forward silently before saying. “How will your friends have time for me, when they are so busy fighting you?” Loki pointed his mind-controlling staff at Tony. *Ting*
Tony began to look a bit shocked, but nothing happened.
*Ting* Loki tried again. “This usually works.”
“Well, performance issues. Not uncommon 1 out of 5…” Loki grabbed stark by the throat and threw him across the hall.
“Jarvis anytime now,” Tony muttered as he stood up only to have Loki grab his throat once more.
“You will all fall before me!” Saying that Loki threw Tony into the glass window which broke through and fell from the high building.
*Whoosh* Suddenly Loki turned around and barely managed to evade the flying compartment which carried the Mark VII.
As the parts merged onto Tony who only began falling he took control of it and flew up before even falling halfway down the buildings
Tony flew up with his armour. “And there is one other person you pissed off. His name is Phil.” Tony fire a beam at Loki just as Selvig's device activated, opening a portal above New York from which the Chitauri fleet emerged beginning Loki's invasion.
“Right army!” Tony uttered in worry while flying up to meet and fight the army.

[Kamar Taj]
“Where are you going?” Mordo asked as he watched the Ancient One taking the Eye of Agamotto.
“To make sure the flow of time isn’t changed too much.” *Whoosh* She smiled as a portal opened up behind her.
Mordo asked in concern as he saw the Ancient One requiring even the eye of Agamotto for whatever reason it may be. “Do you need my help?”
She shook her head. “There won’t be too much fighting. It’s just that I need to make sure certain people get the remnants of the battle before everything is destroyed.”

Saying that she walked through the portal. Just before the portal closed Mordo got a glimpse of several flying objects in the sky emerging from a massive rift.

[An hour later]
Time passed as they continued to defend and finally, Bruce arrived.
“So, this is all seems horrible?”
Bruce pointed at everything as he looked at the assembled avengers before him, minus Tony. “It could get worse. Can you get your…”
Roger glanced at Thor as he asked that question. Thor nodded as he spoke. “Well, this does seem like a hopeless situation. I will take the blame if father thinks otherwise.”
Banner sighed as he extended out his palm towards Natasha who quietly watched him. “Phone please Nat.”
Without saying much Natasha took her phone out and threw it to Bruce. Grabbing it without even dialling Bruce spoke into the phone. “David you coming or what?”
Bruce looked around at the destruction. “Everything looks pretty hopeless here.”
*Ping* Bruce smiled seeing the message before throwing the phone back at Nat. “Captain tell Tony to bring the toughest to me!”
Bruce turned around with a smile as he began walking. Natasha looked down at her phone to see a message. [5 minutes, go smash till then!]
“Stark! We got Dr Banner asking you to send some tough shots to him here!”
Tony asked back tiredly. “Banner is here?”
Roger smiled as he watched Banner cracking his knuckles. “He is getting ready, so bring them soon.”
Tony shouted excitedly as he turned baiting the leviathan to follow him. “Alright, I am bringing the party to you!”
Natasha looked up just in time to see Tony flying ahead of the leviathan. Natasha blurted out seeing the leviathan. “I... I don't see how that's a party…”
Roger saw that Banner wasn’t transforming yet and was just walking towards the path of the leviathan. “Dr Banner. Now might be a really good time for you to get angry.”
Banner looked back with a smile. “The thing is I don’t need to get angry to bring him out.”
Banner’s hands slowly began changing to green. “I just need to tell him… it's mealtime.”
Everyone looked at Bruce in confusion as he slowly changed into the hulking beast with a small drool. Hulk looked around to see what Bruce had promised was not around him.
*ROAR* Just at that moment the leviathan came in front of the Hulk. Seeing the serpent-like creature he punched out in anger at the loss of his favourite meal and being tricked. *Crash*
Loki watched the scene of the destruction of the leviathan from above without any emotion. Loki ordered. “Send the rest!”
Through the portal, thousands of Chitauri and many more leviathan’s emerged.
The Avengers tried their best to contain the damage and finally, Barton managed to push Loki near the Stark tower, while Natasha got next to the device keeping the portal open.
As Loki got blown inside the Stark building, Hulk came roaring in sending Loki flying in. *Smack* Grunting in anger Hulk ran towards Loki.
Furious Loki ordered towards Hulk. “Enough!”
Loki commanded which silenced the Hulk as he stopped in his tracks. “All of you are beneath me. I am a god you dull creature, and I will not be bullied by a…”
He couldn’t finish his sentence as Hulk grabbed him by his leg. *Smash**Smash**Smash**Smash* Hulk started smacking him left and right before throwing him on the floor.
*Crash* “Puny god.” Hulk stated as he walked out.
*Wheeze*Loki whimpers in pain as he laid in the crater caused by hulk smashing him around.
Walking out Hulk looked around in anger. “No lollipop anywhere Banner!”
It stated in anger as it saw another Chitauri flying by. Leaping Hulk smacked the creature in rage. Hulk roared. “LOLLIPOP!”
-----------------------------------------------
[Helicarrier-Few minutes later]
“Sir we have a bird in motion.” Agent Hill informed Fury who quickly ran off while remembering what David told them yesterday about shield being controlled by higher parties and politicians.
“Anyone on the deck we have a rogue bird, shut it down. Repeat! Take off is not authorised.”
Fury shot down 1 of the 2 planes taking off with a nuke, with an RPG but couldn’t stop the other one.
Fury called into Stark’s line. “Stark you hearing me? We have a missile headed straight for the city.”
“How long?” Stark asked he resisted the Chitauri attacking him.
Fury replied in concern as Stark kept fighting off the Chitauri surrounding him. “3 minutes… max. Stay low and wipe out the missile!”
Tony made a decision hearing this. “Jarvis put everything we have in our thrusters.”
Jarvis replied in kind. “I just did.”
Just at that moment, an alert appeared in both Fury’s and Agent Hill’s phones.
Fury looked at his phone. [I told you and I warned you.] Agent Hill held her phone tightly seeing this.
--------------------------------------------------------
[New York- Few seconds after the message]
Suddenly all communication between everyone, except the Avengers shut down while all the speakers and their communication system throughout the whole city replayed just 1 message.
“Alert! Stay calm! All non-Chitauri do not interfere! Do not engage!” The message kept repeating through all comms, speakers, and screens.

The Core And The Wardens of Eternity
What is the Core, they asked me... It's the light that pushes the darkness away, a bastion of justice, a safe keeper of life. It grooms love and tolerance, embraces science, fights ignorance, sentences it to die a slow and tragic death. The Core... it's something that can't be destroyed for destroying it is to terminate the time and space itself. When the stuck-in-a-dark-age world of Zanria goes offline, the Core sends one of its experienced agents to find out what is going on and to try to reestablish a mysteriously severed connection. However, all his training and experience might come way short as the world sinks in war and chaos with different races and clans fighting for the Star of Bardan, the ward rumored to possess enough supernatural power to create and destroy entire worlds. *** I just changed the name of the series, from 'the Nexus' to 'the Core'. Somehow it just sounds more right to me. This is the first story, and it has a medieval fantasy setting. But, eventually, this is going to turn into Isekai series with elements of LitRPG. So, my future books might include worlds with advanced technologies that might be more in SciFi, including Steampunk, genre. The first book might start slow, but after a few chapters, it should all be properly set up, and by then you should get the feel of how it will all flow. Also, I plan to introduce different story threats that should spread out and criss-cross in the future. Hopefully, I will not complicate it too much, and that it will all read good. I am planning to continue to add chapters to the main storyline here, but I'm also starting a new story threat in the Core series called The Recordings of Raan. There is also a side story The Memoires of Eisen that's exclusive on Patreon for those who would like to support me.

Everything is mostly fine until one day, in the depths of the woods, they stumble across a two hundred year-old monk and a living, breathing — or, rather, snoring — dragon who need their help.
