Chapter 73: Ellina part 2

A slender figure came out of the cloth tent. It was also an orc royalty. But not the same.

First of all, it looked exactly like a normal orc, elongated pig-like snout, small ears at the top of its head, and two tusks jutting out of its lower lips.

It wore white satin robes, resembling that of a priestess in ancient greek murals.

Aside from the clothes, she held a wooden staff embedded with a green stone on its tip.

“Hello, a traveler from beyond. I am Ellina, a pleasure to meet you.” Its beady, green eyes looked at me for a second before it did a victorian curtsey.

I was shocked and narrowed my eyes.

“What do you mean by that, orc?”

She said traveler from beyond, which could mean someone from another floor. Or, it could also be taken as someone from a distant land. I happen to satisfy both.

“I am referring to your home, Alex.”

She even knew my name. It rang all the wrong bells in my head. Instinctively, I activated Infrared Vision and glared at her.

Mana in my body became chaotic and leaked through my skin, coating me in a bluish aura.

“Calm yourself down, traveler. I mean no harm to you, and neither do I have the capability to anyway.”

Ellina said unhurriedly and calmly.

I found even more reasons to be alert around her.

“What are you?”

My frigid tone carried an abundance of hostility with it. I was this close to activating Overdrive.

“I am the fifth daughter of Sapren, the Orc king.”

Ellina bowed respectfully and introduced herself. Then she continued with her introduction.

“I’m born with the ability to know the fate of anyone I see. I have seen your fate, traveler. Both past and your future have been known to me for a while now.”

Ellina said calmly. Her eyes didn’t show any trace of fear or aversion towards me, who was ready to kill her at any moment.

However, more than her body language, what she claimed made me shocked to my core.

“Fate! Do such a thing exist?”

I didn’t believe in her explanation.

How can I?

She threw something as abstract as fate right into the face of a 21st-century man. In the advanced world, who would believe in it? Only some phonies.

“Of course it does, traveler.”

Ellina smiled while wrinkling her snout. Her smile, which looked out of place with her soothing voice, gave me an odd feeling. My brain surely didn’t have an easy time adjusting to it.

I sighed in resignation. I decided to forget about the logic of Earth. Clearly, it had become the most useless thing ever since I dimension traveled and later re-incarnated. Anyway, since something like magic and monsters exists, why can’t be abstract things like fate?

But it also made me infinitely curious.

To see fate meaning an ability that could basically see time in all manners. She had perfectly seen through my past and must have seen my future too. Someone with this ability, I hadn’t expected to see so soon in my new life.

“You said that you can’t harm anyone. What does that mean?”

The orc looked at me as the skin on her head creased.

She looked at one of her guards and raised her staff. It came down on the unassuming guard’s head, but the one who tumbled over was Ellina herself. I saw a red mark appearing on her forehead as if she hit herself with her staff.

“Princess!! What are you doing?”

Farey, the orc dressed as a troop’s captain, shouted as he came forward to support her.

I could only look in awe at everything that happened in these few moments while not understanding anything. Urt was also in somewhat the same predicament.

Although, he didn’t look as curious as me.

He threw a condescending glance towards Ellina and snorted.

With Farey’s help, she regained her aura and stood before me while pretending as if nothing happened.

“Did you see that?” she asked me.

“See what? Other than somehow you hurt yourself by hurting him, I didn’t see anything.”

I shrugged my shoulders. I really didn’t understand anything. I am pretty new to magic, and this world’s physical laws seem weird to me.

“That is a curse. I can’t sneak attack anyone, or else all the damage I have inflicted will jump to me. At the same time, I will feel double the pain my target felt. Though, I won’t die from it.”

Ellina explained while rubbing her sore spot on her bald forehead.

What a crippling curse, it was my first thought after I heard her. But then my mind started to process what she said bit by bit.

She mentioned this curse activates only during sneak attacks. Then what if it wasn’t a sneak attack?

That aside, she can already see the future and past. Using that knowledge, she could easily become a last boss-type character in a movie or game.

If I believe fate to be something real, then her very existence will disrupt its flow.

Finally, I realized the reason for the existence of the curse in her body.

“It’s a stopper to prevent you from breaking everything. Right?”

Nature would always find a way to balance out everything. She had such a powerful ability, but due to having this curse, she couldn’t use it to its full potential.

“Yes.” She agreed with a peaceful look in her beady eyes.

“And you were waiting for me here. Why?”

I wanted to know that.

Suddenly her countenance changed. I saw she wanted to do something but couldn’t in the end. Farey dragged her back before she could anyway.

My heartbeat also increased.

“Lord, careful!” Urt screamed.

His body enveloped in a green glow as he appeared before me with his spear poised defensively.

Ting!!

Something smashed against his spear. The force was strong enough to push both of us stumbling back several steps.

Urt took the most damage as he was protecting me while also blocking whatever it was forcing us back.

Our foot made a long trench on the grassy land as we forced back against our wishes.

After we finally managed to stop ourselves, I saw the preparator. It was a strong built Bloodyvore orc with a headful of hair. It had eyes as dark as the darkest of nights. Its face was covered in numerous scars from countless battles it had.

On its neck, it wore a bone necklace.

I felt killing intent coming off it in waves. Had it not for me being evolved and encountered many battles, I would have already kneeled and emptied the contents of my stomachs.

“Are you alright, Urt?” I asked without moving my eyes from that thing.

“I am alright, Lord. I have become stronger.” Urt stood up too, and he didn’t look like he suffered at all.

Seeing him without a scratch relived me.

This orc was powerful, too powerful, I realized. He might be on the same level as Hobgoblin.

Snort!!

“From where do you weaklings come from?” The orc snorted at us and asked rudely. Lifting the gargantuan mace, the weapon it used to attack us unaware, and placed it on its shoulder.

“Lord, I will take care of him. There is another one hiding somewhere. Please, be careful.”

Urt warned me, assuming his warrior persona, as he took a step towards the orc.

“You!? A weakling want to take me, a proud Bloodyvore? Laughable! I will crush you into a pulp with my mace.” The orc mocked and laughed at Urt. Its relaxed posture was a clear indication that it wasn’t going to take the fight with him seriously.

And I knew, it will change that line of thinking soon enough.

Urt wasn’t that easy of an opponent to fight.

Leaving him to duke it out with the orc, I activated the Infrared vision and scanned my surroundings.

There

I found it sooner than expected. It was not hard. That thing was skilfully using the surrounding to better camouflage itself.

My eyes could even see invisible things like mana, let alone an orc.

I walked towards it with anticipation building.

A brutal fight was upon us.
