《Unlimited Evolution》70. To the Second Floor

Chapter 70:To The Second Floor.
There was nothing else to see inside that hidden chamber, so we came out after getting the key. Although its origin and use baffled me, it would be a lie if told that I wasn’t the least bit excited. We just raided one of such hidden floor and received a powerful skill and a sword. More importantly, this key might be a valuable item. After all, it gives access to something called a Core Room.
“Lord, this sword is so great! It fits perfectly with me!” Sepi was all-smiles while holding the shiny claymore. He couldn’t peel his eyes away from it and even go as far as rubbing his face on it.
“That goes without saying.” I agreed with him.
The sword not only had an attack value but also a passive ability. As far as I know, only a selected few had a passive out of all the tools we gathered. Unfortunately, there were none that I could use. A spellcasting tool like Cathie’s wand was the most optimal weapon for me. If not that, then something ranged could also do the trick. Unfortunately, aside from a crossbow that had a higher attack value, we didn’t have anything with a passive ability.
“Lord, the ability you gave me best suited my style.” Urt also expressed his thanks.
Unlike Sepi, his wasn’t a physical item that he could admire as much as Sepi did. While monsters didn’t have a system like me, they do have something similar. Due to all the low intelligent monsters around me, I wasn’t able to find out more about the way their ability and growth works.
“Indeed. The Hobgoblin gave us a lot of trouble the first time due to this ability.” I remembered the pain in ass battle we had undergone together with Cathie and Leah. “However, you shouldn’t get cocky, Urt. Cathie was able to harm it, meaning magicians could still hurt you.”
“I will be careful.” Urt nodded. He no longer refuted me. I noticed that only on a battlefield did his personality shift. He transforms from a lower intelligence ‘yes-sir’ subordinate to a capable general.

The hall that housed the Hobgoblin was still there. The lights were there, but the scratches and broken floor had been repaired somehow. The door didn’t close automatically anymore. Everything summarised one thing, this room was now ours.
A free room aside, I got an interesting piece of news after coming out. The bearer of it was a ‘female’ orc.
“Lord, chief Sepi, chief Urt, we have a few Enhanced goblins and orcs among us now.” The ‘female’ orc was breathless and took in the air in big gulps after informing us. Not wasting any time, we ran towards the habitat to see the newly Enhanced monsters. It would be my first time seeing a successful Enhancing, so I was more than a bit excited.
…
Three goblins and one orc, those were the newly Enhanced monsters in the pack. The goblins evolved from juvenile to adult. The orc, however, transformed from adult to something called Orc Smith.
“Where is Tuale now?” I asked the ‘female’ orc leading me to the habitat. Tuale was the newly evolved Orc Smith. He was younger than Logier, and only older than me by 14 days. However, due to participating in many battles, he became the fastest to evolve into an adult orc. Who would have thought that he would become the fastest to climb the stairs and reach the same stage as Urt.
Generally, orcs were stocky built, and ripped with solid muscles. But this Tuale was stockier than an average adult orc. He was also bigger than them. When I found him, he was fiddling with a short broken sword. Like how Urt focussed on battles, he was concentrating on the item while trying his hardest to study it as much as he could.
He wasn’t succeeding which was evident from his upturned snout and twitching brows. The fact that he was trying his hardest was praiseworthy, considering he learned the ways not long ago.
But then I noticed Sepi’s face splitting grin and asked in doubt. “Why do you look so happy? Did something good happen?”
“Lord, it’s Tuale. He has become a Smith. You have to know, before lord Logier’s father became the fabled Orc Defender, he was an Orc Smith. During those times, our tribe was second to none.” Sepi’s smile widened further as he revealed a euphoric expression. “I couldn’t believe we have an Orc Smith among us again.”

So this Orc Smith wasn’t a new thing for them. Good, it will make the training of this guy easier. While I thought of the future, I missed a little detail.
It was that Logier’s father was an Orc Smith before becoming an Orc Defender. If this little tidbit hadn’t slipped from my mind at that time, we would have an Orc Defender walking among us sooner than expected.
“Lord!” It was only then Tuale responded. “You have come here to meet me as well!?” He smiled at me. However, on his big face, it kinda looked fearsome. As he stood up, his muscles contracted and expanded as his body made an explosive sound of bones popping. I subconsciously took a step back.
“Yes, I have heard we have a new powerful orc among us, so I have come to meet him.” I gave him a once over and nodded in satisfaction. “You indeed look very strong. A proud orc warrior you can be, I am sure of it. However, I think you will be more suited to somewhere else rather than the battlefield.” I faced Sepi and Urt, “don’t you guys also think so?”
“What lord said is indeed true.” Urt started. As a general, he could keenly analyze everyone’s abilities. It was one of his inborn traits like a passive ability. Even though he didn’t know what an Orc Smith could do, he could already realize where this orc will flourish.
“As a smith, he can build us tools, weapons,” Sepi explained his role. “An Orc smith in the tribe could increase their strength by many levels. In those times, our Orc Smith created axes that could even wound the strongest of the Orc Warriors. The armor he made saved us from the assault of humans many times. An Orc Smith is the second-best Enhance to have, right next to Orc Shaman.”
“So, that’s how it is!” Urt nodded in realization. He felt the strangeness from this new orc but didn’t expect it had such potential. I could figuratively hear the gears turning in his head as he thought of ways this new orc could our tribe as a whole.
“Alright, everyone, tonight, we will have a banquet,” I shouted, eliciting roars of approval and joy from everyone. The orcs loved this banquet for two reasons. The ‘all you can eat’ food and the ‘all you can rut’ sex that would follow after. Be it a male or a female, they would eagerly wait for these banquets.
…
That night, while everyone’s busy with the celebration and rutting in a corner, I, Urt, and an orc elder left the habitat. We went through the forest and exited through the tunnel. Our destination was, of course, the second floor.
“Lord, is this a good idea?” The orc elder, Ergoth, who had been an adult Orc for many years, spoke with uncertainty. Well, I could understand his fickle emotions because we were going to face his, or to be more precise, the whole orc tribe’s biggest fear.
We were going to the second floor to fight against the Bloodyvores.
“It's alright, Ergoth,” I assured the aged warrior. “We are not going to fight head-on with them. My abilities can kill them without even going close to them.”
“What?” It was Urt who looked aghast. “We are not fighting?”
I felt exasperated. It felt like walking with two kids to an amusement park. While one was looking forward to riding the ferry wheel, the other one dreaded it. However, I knew very well that if my plan works as I wanted it to, there would be no need for us to fight with them physically.
As to why I suddenly decided this! There were many reasons. First, I was strong enough. Second, I wanted to finish the achievement quest. And finally, to take revenge for Logier.
In reality, the third reason was the driving factor of this decision.
Now, it was time for me to face off against this so-called ‘Unique Class’.

The year is 2152. Rune Yahui is a nineteen-year-old failure, not having gained entrance to college or the military, with no significant prospects in life. Even worse, Rune is the poorest of the poor, hailing from the mega-slums of New Southern Chicago, the lowest pit of America. In a stroke of rare luck, Rune is admitted into the program and happily submits himself to the surgery and digitization process. Unfortunately for him, he wakes up several hundred years later than he expected... or does he? **Author's Note** This isn't a type of story typical to RRL. You may have noticed LitRPG in the tags, but it's a relatively minor element in the story until later. You may also notice Slice of Life is in the tags. This story is going to be slow and there won't be any power tripping until way later if at all. The focus will be on character development. That doesn't mean I won't still have action/excitement, however. I encourage you to give the story a try. Maybe it will be your thing, maybe it won't. Thanks for even taking the time to read this, and if you do give my fiction a try, I hope you enjoy it. If you don't, well, I hope you find something that you do enjoy. Happy reading!
