Chapter 66: Muen Gazhe

You have used Evolved Nightmare Seed on a target.

-200MP

MP: 130/360

Nightmare Seed succeeded. The level increased by 0.02.

Remaining seeds: 1/3

No change could be seen on the blond knight’s face or his behavior, but I have already done what I came here to do. After the evolution of the skill, this was my first time using Evolved Nightmare Seed. I have to say I was impressed.

I had my Infrared Vision activated the whole time and saw how the skill worked. The process blew my mind away. This time, the small dot that was my skill’s manifestation didn’t get hindered by the pink barrier. It smashed it to smithereens and forcefully went inside his brain.

Not long after the seed entered the brain, I felt my connection building among us.

The link has been created.

The blond knight will be my subordinate forever. I felt tired as if I had run a marathon just now. To spend so much MP at once was indeed tiring.

But the skill’s effect pleased me a lot. From now on, I could use it on anyone without fearing failure. Moreover, I don’t have to wait for ten hours for its effect to kick in. It was instantaneous now. However, it also received two big nerfs.

The MP cost increased by 100 times, and the number of seeds I could use per level became finite. Unlike before, I could no longer use it to farm stats, which I had planned initially. Because orcs and goblins became somewhat friendly with each other and decided to live together, I had to shelf the idea. And now I have missed the chance forever.

I felt it’s a shame but quickly got over it.

“You will know it later. Hehe, don’t worry, I will send you food soon. Do enjoy your stay here.” Leaving behind some strange and confusing words to mystify them, I scurried away. Since I had achieved my objective, there was no need for me to stay there and waste my time.

Logier’s fall reminded me of a huge advantage I had above everyone else. My evolution didn’t have any underlying risks. And neither do I have to struggle for one. All have to do was to amass enough EPs, and the system will give me the options depending on the stats I used the most.

Logier was the first monster to undergo evolution after I woke up in this dungeon, although he failed to complete it. Before this, I always wondered how this works. Do the monsters also have to sleep for hours or days to evolve? Do they somehow have to amass enough EPs to evolve? Do they even get options like me?

To know more, I asked these questions to Urt, and his reply wasn’t out of my expectations.

“No, my lord. We don’t get any choices at all.” Urt shook his head negatively and explained. “Before our enhance actually completed, we won’t even know the outcome. What we will turn into, there was no knowing it beforehand.”

“Then, what is that thing Logier turned into?” I was trying to find the meaning behind these so-called Fallens. I hoped Urt would shed some light into that.

“That’s a Fallen.” Urt said. And I was this close to responding with a ‘duh!’. Suppressing my impulse, I gave him the go-ahead to continue. Getting the cue, he nodded at me before starting what would probably be an earthshattering revelation. I just got that feeling when I saw his fingers drumming on his knees.

“I only know a little about it from goblin lord. He said that Fallens are those who have stepped half-way into Demonification.” Urt said with all the seriousness he could muster. His revelation dropped a proverbial bomb. It was hard to believe such a thing was possible. And it was even harder to believe that Logier actually turned into a demon.

In the first place, I was summoned to this world to fight against monsters and demons. Then it was also true that I got done in by a demon when I was a human. I had this sudden thought, was me getting reborn as a monster has any link to that?

“Why do you feel angry and disdain towards Logier after he turned into a Fallen?” The moment Logier’s grotesque form revealed to the world, not to mention Urt and Sepi, I had seen some of the orcs and goblins nearly rushed to slaughter him.

“This, my lord, I don’t know.” Urt shook his head. “The moment I saw Logier, I just had the impulse to look down on him and rush to slaughter him. I get a similar impulse when facing a human. but in Fallen Logier’s case, it was many times stronger.” His eyes avoided mine when he was saying that. I wondered why.

After a while, he did something even more confusing.

“I am sorry, my lord.” Urt fell to his knees. “I couldn’t control my nature when I saw Fallen. As a warrior, I should have controlled myself better.”

“Wait, Urt. What are you doing?” I jumped back at his sudden actions. My eyes were wide as I tried to process what he was doing.

“This, my lord, I have a confession to make.” Urt lowered his head as his voice became as low as that of mosquitoes. “After we drove back the humans, I and Sepi worked together to kill the Fallen.”

Now that was news to me. But I wasn’t shocked as much as I thought I would be. Maybe I was also affected by the inherent hatred. But after Urt’s confession, I felt relieved. I felt ease upon knowing that Logier was no longer that grotesque thing that arouses anger and hatred in me.

Knowing that I also felt anger towards him, I had no right to be angry at Urt or Sepi.

“Its alright, Urt.” I patted his broad shoulders and lightly squeezed it. “It was probably for the best that you two killed him, or else, god knows what he might have done like that.” I didn’t speak for the sake of reassurance. That’s how I truly felt.

After knowing what a Fallen was, I felt relief realizing that he was no more. Logier didn’t deserve to be an entity that everyone hates. He didn’t deserve my hatred or any of his fellow orc’s. He deserved to be praised and respected.

“If you say so, Lord.” Urt nodded and stood up with his back straight.

“Urt, haven’t you have grown a few inches taller?” I asked after noticing the subtle changes on him.

“This, my lord, I don’t even know what happened either. I just grew up a bit after the war.” Urt scratched his bald head and said hesitantly. Nodding to him perfunctorily, I shooshed him away as I had something much more important to do.

After he left, I sat on the wooden bed and closed my eyes.

Its time to invade into a human’s consciousness. With a lot of excitement in my heart as it would be my first time doing so, I hurriedly concentrated on the subtle link and activated the Nightmare Seed skill.

There was brief darkness, followed by pin-drop silence. Then out of nowhere, a blue light tore through the darkness and lighted everything around me. The place of consciousness wasn’t a blank space like those goblins or a purple surrounding like Urt. It was just a simple clearing in a forest with a little spring in the middle.

The water in the spring was as clear as glass. I was able to see the bottom, and even the pebbles deposited in the depth. It was a sight to behold.

To the other side of the spring, the human knight Muen, stood like a statue. However, he wasn’t naked. He wore his iconic golden armor, looking incredibly cool and handsome in it. As a male, I felt jealous of him.

A face that could instantly gain the approval of any girl, which healthy male wouldn’t be jealous of that?

“Hello, human!” I greeted, assuming my ‘mysterious monster’ persona.

Muen fell to one of his knees and did a knight’s bow. “Your loyal subject, Holy Knight of Star Church, Muen Gazhe greeting his lord!” He sure had a long-ass title. But I did commit his name, Muen Gazhe, to my memory.

And like that, I found my human vassal.
