As Pef read the updated inner screen, he compared it with the memories of the older life, finding it changed in some ways, somehow weaker than his old Tier 5 stats and yet...some of the stats were much higher. Especially in mental ability and soul strength.

Despite the constant attacks of the Nether Lotus, he felt he could maintain the protective barrier for years, with barely any strain. Not that simply defending was an option.
His senses focused on the origin of the attack, finding the Yin Lotus encased in a dark foggy cavern, inside the moon.
A flash of sad smile passed over his face, and he just Blinked inside the lunar cavern, then flared his qi to knock out a hundred Nether Servants before they could even react.
"Enough, Yin Lotus!" he demanded with a loud voice, infused with a tinge of golden aura.
The strange sentient lotus withdrew its violet flames, gathering them around its petals like a sort of protective field.
'Is this something like our General?' Pef wondered inward, listening for some advice from his new memories.
'You've met someone like this, in your other life?' Icefire asked curious.
'Not like this...but similar enough. But the General had reached Tier 8 and shape shifted into a human form.' Pef explained with a tiny shrug. He got used to the wonders of the cultivation world, such that some miracles didn't impress him for long.
Tiny tendrils of Yin energy began to emerge from the Nether Lotus, worming their way towards Pef, only to be rebuffed abruptly by his Voidshield.
"Just vibrate the air if you want to speak, Yin Lotus. You have reached Tier 6 already, show me that your capable." the blonde teenager asked while sitting in mid-air, holding a Blue Jade in his hand. His new memories pointed at using the Heavenly Tribulation as a pain instructor, if need be.
"Human, how did you ascend so fast? And why are you stronger than me, even at a lower realm?" the lotus demanded while withdrawing the Yin tendrils.
"I did not ascend, I just recovered some of my cultivation. See, once you reach Tier 7, you can never truly die." Pef answered with a small chuckle. He also remembered some people that did truly die, one eaten by the Taotie and one blasted by tribulation, even at Tier 8.
"If you did reach Tier 7...it means you know what is the thing keeping me locked in here? The hard sky above the sky?" the lotus wondered while opening two petals like a person opening their hands.
"I do know. That is the Mirror of Samsara. A tier 9 Divine Artifact." Pef said while scratching at his cheek in a familiar gesture.
He already knew the Mirror wouldn't hold him prisoner anymore, or it wouldn't have let his second self inside. It was a favor. Which meant the Mirror wanted something from him. And there wasn't anything in here that would interest a Tier 9 entity. Having a high wisdom number wasn't only for padding the stats on his screen.

"Could you...take me with you when you leave? I see you have taken that Icefire already." the Yin Lotus pleaded, relinquishing all pretense.
Pef frowned, and formed a water mirror by his side. "What say you, Gena Feng? The Nether Lotus is wasted in here, after all."
A familiar face formed onto the water mirror, peeking into the Mirror Realm.
"You do remember me. Did you also remember me when you were singing in the bathroom?" the Mirror Goddess asked curious.
"I had a vague memory and a suspicion. Anyways, the Nether Lotus needs a host. And the Mirror never leaves things at random. Someone on this planet is the perfect user of the lotus." Pef said with a knowing smile.
The goddess threw a pity look at the Elder God Lotus, then smirked. "And you have become much wiser. Death suits you, Pef." she answered while fading away.
Pef sighed and turned his senses onto the large planet on the horizon. "Tell me about Zhong Di"
The Nether Lotus hesitated then opened another pair of petals in defeat. "I had hoped she was the one. She had the talent, I was sure of it. I tried, unblocked her meridians, I tried pills and elixirs, love and threats, I tried pain and anguish...but nothing happened for 60 years. In the end, I wiped most of her memories and let her go. You say she is the one? My true host?"
Pef shook his head. "No, Lady Zhong is talented but not that way. But I think I know who it is. Someone with a Skill."
"I see. Is it your grandfather then? Those blue flames are a Skill, right?" the lotus asked with a trembling tone.
"The flames are a Skill, but they are meant for Crafting and Alchemy. Someone else." Pef said softly while locking onto Zara and Recalling her next to him.
"Holy Son! So good to see you!" the woman exclaimed and jumped to hug Pef, her womanly forms molding so comfortably over his body. For Pef was now at the right age to notice such things.
"Focus, Lady Zara! This here is the Nether World Lotus. A being of Yin energy, and in need of a host." he explained while still patting her bottom lovingly. His hands moved on their own, for some reason.
The Monarch Realm woman turned towards the immensely powerful being, and stared at it for a long minute.
"So strong! It would burn me from the inside or drain my mind, turn me into those Nether Servants..." she muttered with a shiver.
"Fear is a useful tool, my lady. It lets us know when we are reaching the limits of our abilities. But I have a good eye for talent. Your limits...I cannot even see them." he replied in a calm voice and stood back.
He trusted the Mirror would find the perfect host for the Nether Lotus, even if it had to follow a billion fates and pluck the perfect soul from the Reincarnation Paths.
'If she fails, death would be a swift release from what torment awaits her.' Icefire spoke in his soul, sounding quite worried.
'She will not fail, Icefire. Skills are always given for a reason. If I wasn't reborn here, you would have grown grandpa Gonxian to become your user. You can still do so.' Pef answered in a gentle tone.
'I will not. I know you now, Pef. You will not stop at Tier 7, or 8 or even 9. I want to see what's out there, above the sky and above the Heavens.' Icefire answered with conviction.
Before Pef could answer, Zara stepped forward and placed her hands onto the Nether Lotus, then burst into violet flames.
The Icefire sprite in her dantian jumped out and fled towards the safety of the Holy Son, sinking into his arm and rejoining the big Icefire.
The space around Zara wobbled and undulated, and the Nether Lotus began to twist into lines that sank into her belly.
Flames turned into shadows, covering the woman in a dark Yin mist as she pushed towards the next Ascension and the next.
It took hours, but when the vibrations stopped, Zara opened her eyes and summoned a small violet lotus in her right palm and a shadow lotus in her left.
"You were right, Holy Son. I have Ascended five times in five hours..." she spoke with a proud voice.
"Good. I see you have awakened your Skill as well." Pef said with a large smile.
Zara nodded slowly, as the lotus in her left hand fell to the floor and grew into a clone of her, still maintaining the Tier 4 cultivation of the original host. "Only one copy, for now...but I will get more. And she can cultivate as well..."
"A Shadow Clone, huh?" Pef murmured to himself, grinning to his ears. Some people had all the luck.

Until Death? (Refleshed Version)
Ever been a god? Well, I was! Until I died.... and got judged by the other gods! Apparently, they didn't like the whole "My Faith is the only true one!" idea. Oh, and for the record: The Apocalypse wasn't intentional, ok? In my defense, I want it to be known that my enemies threw the first stone and the whole 'Offer the other cheek' just isn't my thing. Seems like, for punishment, I get sent onto a vacation! Or so I hope? ——————————————————————————————— Reading Order of the Multiverse-Books ——————————————————————————————— Author's Comment: It's here, a rewrite? Yes! I would like to think that this version will have better grammar, better jokes, hopefully, everything better. Since it was my first work and started solely to improve my English, the grammar always caused me headaches when I looked at it. Well, and there are the plotholes which appeared with the whole multiverse thing that came with my other works... Let's just say that the first one was never written with the idea of turning it into a series. So let's get a shovel and fill-up the plot so that hapless readers won't fall into those pitch-black pits. They might break a knee! Or worse, vanish forever. And now the disclaimer everyone knows: I was asked about reading my work on other sites. The answer is simple: Currently, I am not active in any other networks than royalroadl.com. Only here, I correct mistakes and errors. If you read it anywhere else and have to pay for it or have to deal with an annoying amount of advertisement, You Are Being Betrayed. You would do good if you make other people in that network aware of it. This is a free project of mine for the purpose of having fun. And if people try to make money with it you shouldn't bother visiting their website. The only one whom I actually allowed to have my work on his website is Armaell who invested the time to compile them into pdf. (http://armaell-library.net/author/andur)
