《A Soul's New Home》A Soul and Its Vessel 6

Several human males appeared from the thicket. They possess clothes made with the same material that I'm wearing and several pieces of metal things located in certain locations of their body. Their shoulders, knees, and arms are some parts that some of them cover.

Although some of the human males only have one piece of armor. Most likely it's because they don't have enough of this armor.

These metal things are called metal armor. Their purpose is to protect the body of the wearer it seems. From looking at it, it definitely looks very hard.

It's also made with the same material that the sword is made of to which they're hanging on their waists.

I'm guessing that this is most of them then. 13 of them appeared but there's still 4 more of them that has yet to come out. What are they waiting for?

And also, one of them is wearing an armor that covers his whole torso along with other metal protection to cover other areas of his body. He also has a bigger version of the sword that Night and the other males uses placed on his back. It's practically half as wide as his back and it's length reached from his shoulders down to his thighs.

This one must be someone important. He looks strong as well.

He's also wearing an ear-to-ear grin on his face.

Looking at Night, she looks frightened for a while but she then put up a fearless expression. Quite brave of her, that is if you remove the part where she's shaking.

The guy with torso armor shouted something at Night, making her expression contort a bit. She then replied back, shouting while pointing her sword at him.

Then the guy shrugged his shoulders and replied back. It seems to have provoked Night considerably so it must be some nasty remark.

I noticed how Night's grip on her sword tightened.

It looks like the armor guy noticed this as well and said something that further provoked Night.

It seems Night couldn't contain her irritation anymore and she rushed at him, sword at hand.

Despite Night's actions, the armor guy stood there, doing nothing.

As Night was about to slash at his abdomen, the armor guy, grabbed the blade of the sword, effectively stopping her attack.

Blood trickles down from the wound he got from the blade but he didn't even flinch.

I for one got to feel pain myself in my lonesome before I met these two. It's a sensation I couldn't get used to and I'd rather not want to experience it if I could avoid it, even if my body is essentially immortal. So for him to just ignore pain like that, he's definitely something else.

While being unable to comprehend what just happened, Night stood there for a moment. And at the moment, armor guy pulled the sword towards him and punched Night's face, sending her flying a good distance away.

Her body touched the ground shortly but she didn't stop immediately. Her body dug up the ground beneath it as it continued to go forward from the force of the armored guy's fist. She eventually came to a stop when she crashed into a nearby large rock.

Upon impact, blood escaped from her mouth. Her chest visibly heaved heavily.

Just then, a loud banging came from the carriage door. After a few thumps, the hinges of the door flew off, with Sun going with it.

"Roosevelt!" She shouted as she forced herself to stand up.

I didn't expect the guy to put out that much power. Night's still alive. At least barely and her blood isn't leaking not just from her mouth and nose but also from the wound on her neck.

This might be more serious than I thought.

Before I even noticed, Sun had limply walked towards me and had grabbed my shoulders. She then said something to me. All of it was gibberish but there are some words that I can understand. The name of Night. Roosevelt.

She said her name along with some words to accompany it. I don't know what she's saying but I think I know what she means.

I used my finger to wipe away the water coming out from her eyes. This water seems to be called tears. Its purpose is to help ease the mind in case of an extreme emotional distress.

Is what she's experiencing currently an emotional distress? An emotional distress caused by seeing someone she knows get hurt.

I think I could understand it a little. If Night were to get killed, I think I would feel an emotion akin to something like 'how regrettable' or 'what a waste'.

Although I know that it isn't the same as to what Sun is feeling right now, I'm sure it has some resemblance. Regarding the difference to how we would feel towards Night getting injured, maybe it's because of the difference in our relationship.

I'm sure Night and Sun know each other for some time now and as for me, they only knew me for only a few days at most.

I also didn't make the best first impression and I couldn't even communicate with them so getting to know each other would be hard.

There's also the fact that I see them as a walking delicacy. Of course, I would still see them like that despite all this.

And so, the difference in how we feel isn't all that surprising. And yet even after knowing all this and knowing that these things are something that I couldn't do anything about, I still feel bad.

Maybe I'm feeling bad because I feel something different from Sun, or maybe I'm feeling bad because I know so little about these things.

In any case, it is a fact that I feel bad and I would like to remove this nasty feeling.

So, I don't see any point to hesitate now. Surely if I helped now, I would have a better relationship with them than when I help after Night already has an open wound. I should also remember the fact that humans are many times more fragile than I am.

Right. Then I made up my mind.

During the time when I and Sun were having this 'exchange', Night has already stood back up. She balanced herself with her sword but from the looks of it, she could barely stand back up.

For now, I tell Sun that I'm willing to help. I don't know what gesture it is to say 'yes' in this situation so maybe a smile could work.

Oh, it worked. Sun stopped talking and shaking. Her tears also stopped coming out. That's good. That must mean that she isn't emotionally distressed anymore.

Though her face is redder than usual. It's a bit worrisome but it does give off a nice aroma. If it isn't something bad, then I hope her face would do that more often.

I'll have to think about that later on. I looked over the situation again.

It looks like the armor guy has pulled out his sword.

He then said something to Night most probably more provocations.

Night's face twisted from both the pain and from anger. She tried to stand up with her own two feet but she ended up relying on her sword to stand up again just a few seconds later. The guy chuckled at this.

She's obviously not fit to fight with this guy.

It still puzzles me why these human males wants to kill them. What reason do they have? Could it be that they're just the same with those for that I killed before? Another group of humans with the same culture of killing one's kind.

Then they're no better than them so I'll just have to kill them all to get this over with.

Kicking off the ground using my right foot to start, I sped across the ground and managed to reach the armor guy in a few seconds.

As I came close to him, I launched myself towards him, ready to stomp his head to the ground.

Although suprised by my sudden action and speed, he nonetheless managed to get his sword in a position that would render my attack useless.

Instead of his face, due to the sword getting in the way, I hit the sword instead. To keep my balance, I used the sword as platform and kicked off again to get a bit of distance between him and me.

It looks like I hit his sword hard enough that he didn't managed to resist it much and the sword hit his face.

After massaging his nose for a short while, he then pointed his sword at me and said something. Most likely it's provocations but since I can't understand him, I simply tilted my head.

That action seemed to anger him though so this time, he's the one who went after me this time. He placed the large sword on his back, both his hands is gripping on it's handle. After coming close enough, he jumped off and he swung the sword forwards, intending to cut me in half.

I fell that I would definitely be cut in half if I hadn't dodged it.

Upon him reaching the ground, I went and jumped up myself and landed a hit using my the heel of my foot on his back. The armor got in the way for a direct attack but I managed to sent it.

Looks like I used a bit too much force on my hit as his legs gave out. Seeing this an opportunity, I landed a clean hit to his head, making his whole body arch upwards.

I then spun and used my other foot to force him down, stomping on his head to the ground. From he twitches, he should still be alive but I guess I'll leave it there. I doubt he can move at all.

The surrounding humans are oddly silent. I didn't think they'd expected me to do this. Even Night and Sun have their mouths wide open.

As I was thinking that, this guy managed to muster enough strength to grab my legs and throw me off of him.

I got too distracted, huh?

After stomping on his face, he's face is horribly disfigured. I'm sure that the nose normally wouldn't bend in that direction.

[•••••••••••••...!]

Even still, he he managed to shout with his all. Although he sounded as if he said it wrong due to his broken jaw, the other human males snapped out from their shock and understood what he just said.

I should have killed him immediately if I knew this would happen. I can't possibly handle this many humans at once. No, I'm sure it would come to this as well even if I killed him.

They had an obvious aim from the start and it's to kill these two.

They're the first humans that I've met and they seem nice enough to let me accompany them. They will lead me to some place with lots of humans. I can't possibly let them die.

Plus, I still haven't tasted their blood. Maybe if I asked, they'll give me at least a drop. As for Night, maybe she can let me lick her face for a bit.

When I glanced back at them, Sun has already cleaned out the blood from Night's face and put long cloth things over the wound.

Ah... What's waste. The blood's somehow became one with the thing that she used to clean the blood with. I can't possibly drink that.

Anyway.

I guess I'll stay and fight.
