Day 4,604

The attack began at dawn, when we were just rising from sleep. Fortunately, our scouting parties had already warned us two hours before, so we had broken camp and retreated back inside Caltina’s walls. There we waited for their arrival.

It was only a small horde, almost equal to our numbers, though we are still far less. And they are mostly Ogramas wielding clubs and hammers. However, we have an advantage that they didn’t: magic and technology.

We may have only learned to use them yesterday, but Caltina’s weapons proved strong enough to reduce the monster horde into charred corpses in less than fifteen minutes. Naturally, we celebrated our victory, but remained vigilant.

At sundown, another horde twice the size of the first one attempted another assault. Again, we repelled them. But we suffered three casualties after an Ograma impaled all three with a spear.

It is almost midnight now. Our scouts reported another horde approaching us, so Adren ordered everyone to scour for anything we can use to bolster our defense. The horde numbers a thousand at least, so we need to be careful.

I’m afraid I will not get much rest tomorrow.
