《The Soul Force Saga》6.25

Jen stood on the battlements above the outermost wall. It towered sixty feet above the ground and had to be forty feet thick. The wall completely filled the pass. The blocks had been carved precisely so that they butted up tight enough against the mountain that a bug would be hard pressed to fit through. Above the gate hung a stone block held up by a combination of chains and sorcery. It could be released in the event the fortress commander deemed the gate indefensible. Jen planned to drop it at once and have the sorcerers fuse the stone together.
You could pound the wall for months with conventional siege equipment and not put so much as a dent in it. Pity Connor wasn’t sending catapults and ballistae against them. With sorcery at their disposal stone walls didn’t mean a great deal. Of course that begged the question of how the paladins had kept the creatures of the haunted lands out for so long.
Behind them the pass sloped upward and two more walls, each every bit as tall as the first, blocked an approaching army from reaching the fortress. It would take a conventional force months to surmount such obstacles if it was even possible. With paladins defending it Jen could understand now why no demonic force had ever breached the fortress and entered the kingdom.
The narrow pass extended east from the outer wall another fifty yards before opening out into dead, gray sand. Just looking at the empty nothingness drained her will. That was what Connor wanted to do to the kingdom and the son of a bitch was using her brother to help him. No way was Jen going to let him get away with it.
Marie-Bell stood an arm’s length away staring out over the pass, a faraway look in her eyes. It didn’t take a genius to figure out what she was thinking. Jen had to keep her focused. If her emotions got the better of her the paladin would be worse than useless, she’d be a liability.

“What’s to keep the demons from just blasting this wall to rubble?” Jen asked. “Damien could turn it to so much gravel in a blink.”
Marie-Bell gave a little shake of her head and faced Jen. “Holy wards protect it from corrupt magic. There was no other way to secure it from some of the nasties out there. Normally fifty paladins would hold this wall. How will the four of us manage?”
“For starters we’re not going to defend the gate. I need you to drop the stone.”
Marie-Bell stared for a moment. “If we do that a large portion of the wall will need to be rebuilt to make it usable again.”
“If that’s the worst thing that happens before this war is over we can consider ourselves fortunate. Drop it, please.”
Marie-Bell’s trembling chin firmed and she nodded. The young paladin headed for the enclosure that protected the stone’s bindings. She disappeared inside and a few seconds later the stone dropped. When it hit the ground, the wall shook and gravel fell from the sides of the pass. The vibration shook Jen to her bones.
Jen turned to Kat. “Can you fuse the stone in place?”
“No problem. Come on, Amanda, time to show me what you learned in shaping class.”
“I failed shaping in my final test.” Amanda flew down beside her mentor and soon golden beams shot out from the sorcerers’ extended hands.
Marie-Bell rejoined Jen. “What now?”
“Now we wait and hope our reinforcements arrive here before the enemy.”
“What are the odds of that?”
Jen couldn’t meet her hopeful gaze. “Not as good as I’d like.”

Necromancer: Divine-Level Summoning
"Necromancers had always been an extremely evil existence in the historical records of the Tianlan Continent.
8 526Bow of the North
In game of thrones i felt that the Starks received way too much hardships and tragedy. i know that there were vital points of story, and there were times these hardships were building points for their characters, but i feel when every member of a family has been either killed, raped or crippled then they deserve a break. In my story that break comes in the form of a powerful hunter/general from another world. I have no intention of altering the story to save every stark, or have them win every time, and some of my favourite characters may even be victims of this plot change as well. edited The main character, and there will be several new characters introduced to the storyline, will not just be some over powered guy who makes outrageous decisions that always work out (cough Plot armour) but will be someone that treats the world as a real world and has fears, doubts and is cautious in his decisions. He is susceptible to changing his mind and character traits depending on his experiences in this life. The story will primarily follow the plot at the beginning with some minor changes, and as more things change they will increase till the entire story is changed at the end. I am not copying the world of GoT exactly. cultures, politics and nobility may be changed or made up.
8 587Tales of the Implock - A LitRPG Monster Evolution Story
Nyx - A demon, weak and small, too fleeting of a creature to survive the infernal wastes in which he was born - but after multiple brushes with death, the otherwise inconsequential demon experiences a destiny-changing encounter with an unknown and eccentric god, foreign to this world. Cast from the domains of old and conspiring gods to a land of which is sheltered from the divine, beyond the reach of whence they scheme, the impling who soon would come to be known far and wide as Nyx will find a new purpose. Born of Pride, with the fires of ambition fanned and burning deep within, Nyx will grow, learn, and evolve. From a weak and pathetic impling, to that of a mighty arch demon of untold demonic power, nothing would stand in the way of his ascent. Yet, the yearn of power might not be the only thing the power-manic demon will come to desire as he will encounter others who might just matter as much to him as the ecstasy of power does. [Info]This story features a wide breadth of characters with unconventional views, morals, and actions. There is no black and white - there is only grey. In a world where strength rules, notions of good and evil blur. The protagonist of this story is not a hero. He is not human. He is a megalomaniac demon trying to find his place in the world of which he has been discarded. This novel is my first crack at making something serious, a piece of work I can be proud of. It is a part of a bigger universe that I am creating, The Aethos, and I fully intend for this story to be professionally edited, then self-published on Amazon. The novel will continue on for a long adventure, as each arc will be made into a proper book. Therefore I heavily encourage feedback and interaction. Anything to improve my story and my writing is greatly appreciated. Thank you, and welcome to the Aethos. [Schedule] - Five chapters a week. [Discord] - Here
8 224Dominion Expansion (a 4X LitRPG)
Clay is one of the world's top players of 4X games, a genre where the goal is to eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate. He's also one of the only players in the world to so stubbornly stick to the one city strategy, a favorite tactic of his that involves only ever using a single city or planet depending on the game's setting. All that matters to him is winning with his favorite strategy, but earning the respect of his fellow players for taking a sub-optimal strategy to its highest level has always been a nice bonus. And now it is because of his skill and entertaining determination that he has been chosen to represent a higher realm in a strategy game where the fate of Earth and dozens of other worlds are at stake. To the victor goes the spoils, and the spoils include entire worlds and billions of lives. That's how he ends up representing the ascended realm of Hell in a grand "game" between an entire pantheon of godly beings and other higher powers. But while it may just be a game to those overseeing it, it is a genuine war for survival to those participating in it where billions of real lives will go to the victor of whoever wins, and many will die before the game is over. Quick Author's Notes: System inspired by Civilization, Endless Legend, Stellaris, and Crusader Kings 2. Combat mechanics inspired by the Total War series. Slow-paced with many long-term plans. Protagonist has a personality heavily inspired by Ron Swanson. Know who that is and love him? You should like Clay. Know who Ron Swanson is and hate him? You'll probably hate Clay. Planning on writing every single day (turn). Days with important things happening will have the system/game mechanics be the priority of the chapter. Days where there isn't really anything important happening will be more slice-of-life and focused on character interactions. Designed a dice-based randomized map generator to create the world as the story goes on, so I don't even know myself exactly what's going to happen as a lot is dependent on world generation. Tech tree with hundreds of technologies already designed. There is a "harem," but it's not the main focus, the girls won't be cardboard cutouts, and I'm not going to completely forget about any previous women in the relationship whenever a new one comes along. One last thing. The "game" starts off with primitive technology level. The current plan is for the "endgame" tech level to be equivilent to WW2-era technology. After that and war just gets boring until you end up in space. Cover is temporary and made from royalty-free stock images while waiting for the real cover's commission to finish.
8 129Manaseared
Adventuring is for losers. Only the absolutely impoverished or the megalomaniacally mad would stoop to graverobbing and dungeon-delving to put food on their tables. As a career it is dangerous, unreliable, illegal, and infinitely unpleasant. Most who choose this life have no other options. They're the seventh sons of seventh sons, the disowned, bastards, impoverished and desperate, and nearly always young. And they are, without fail, losers. Eris is an adventurer. Eris is a loser. Like most of her make she's a teenage runaway with no other options. Unlike her company, she isn't fodder for the meatgrinder. She's beautiful, brilliant, and a talented magician; she's also vain, callous, selfish, and proud. This is her story, as she grows into adulthood, masters her abilities, and learns to care about more than just herself. Manaseared is an episodic fantasy adventure serial. It's also a pastiche of early D&D and RPGs in general, and an attempt to explore at what it might really mean to be a first level adventurer.
