As Hu Feng was wallowing self-despise and sorrow, his surrounding teared apart, revealing a complete white world. Hu Feng did not even bother looking up, keeping his head facing the ground.

Mixed emotions swirled and clashed against each other, like fierce waves, inside Hu Feng’s heart. Anger, frustration, sadness, happiness, confusion, fear…feelings of varying degrees interlinked and broke, vying to tear his entire being apart. It felt as he was about to explode from the inside out.

At the same time, many memories were being replayed over and over again in his mind.

They were mainly ones that pertained to his period of experiences in WuDang.

“Weakness in this world is a sin…they shun me just because I didn’t have good talent?…lawless…what kind of bullsh*t is this…strength…bunch of barbarians…get back home…mom…”

Incoherent mutterings came from Hu Feng, as he struggled to calm his emotions.

A strange light appeared in his eyes after a several long moments.

Gritting his teeth, Hu Feng softly whispered: “That person…while he looked like a human, I can be certain that he was most definitely not from Earth. He must have come from a place like this…

That must be it! If he could travel to Earth, then…then, that means something like traveling through worlds should be possible?…No, it must be possible!…

If…if only I can be as strong as that person…then perhaps I can find a way to go back…! Right, in the end it’s all about power!

The power needed to defeat my enemies! The power to make others acknowledge me!…And the power to return home!”

Hu Feng lowered his head as his eyes danced with a slight light of madness; the light of stubborn determination; the light of thirst.

Having been exposed to the most extremes of his memories almost all at once, had left an irrevocable impression in Hu Feng’s mind. It could even be said to have altered a certain part of his mindset.

While Hu Feng was unaware of it, this moment had marked the beginning of his change.

This event had left the first crack left on Hu Feng’s mentality since the first day he was born into WuDang. A tiny split that would perhaps continue to widen down the road…..

*Wooosh!*

At this moment, an intense aura suddenly burst forth from Hu Feng’s lonely figure.

*Zzt!*

The surrounding white world slightly blurred and darkened from the sudden pressure. The pure snow space slowly faded away as darkness began to close in…

*Sssss..*

“This is…?!” Jin Xia’s eyes widened slightly when he saw red lines suddenly appear on the surface of Hu Feng’s skin.

The red lines stretched and connected with one another, like branches of a tree.

In the next moment, a sharp aura exploded from Hu Feng’s body, blowing back the tables and shredding the curtains. But Jin Xia paid no attention to the “small wind” generated from Hu Feng. He was focused on the red lines that were had stopped spreading, and were now glowing an eerie crimson color.

Hu Feng, by now, had strange red lines glowing on all parts of his body, including his face.

“Those are…special Profound Veins?!” Jin Xia thought in deep surprise.

In a cultivator’s body, besides a set of twenty meridians, there are things known as the Profound Veins. These are special veins that help strengthen a body’s cultivation.

If opening meridians could help speed up the absorption of World Qi, then having a set of strong Profound Veins could boost the depth of one’s cultivation. That is to say, one would be able to absorb much more World Qi, and their body would also be several times stronger than someone of the same level.

If the Profound Vein was strong enough, then even battling against someone of a higher level would be, but a simple matter!

One may be able to exhibit mystical abilities or characteristics when one uses their techniques. Some unique Profound Veins may even be able to change a person’s entire bloodline, granting them even more strength; but the chance of that happening is as rare as a phoenix’s feather.

Because of that, Profound Veins can be graded into four sets: Ordinary, Rare, Ancient, and Godly.

However, unlike meridians which can be opened by oneself or by another person’s help, Profound Veins are determined at birth, which was similar to Bloodlines.

But, if one is fortunate, they could be granted a Profound Vein by a peerless expert. Though the chance of that happening is again, impossibly slim..

Thus, many people in the WuDang do not possess special Profound Veins, but merely Ordinary ones.

Closely observing the Profound Veins that were glowing on Hu Feng’s body, Jin Xia narrowed his eyes as a twinkle of shock could be seen growing within.

“Godly Profound Veins…this aura and that distinct glow…there’s no doubt about it.” Jin Xia thought solemnly as he looked at Hu Feng, who still had his eyes closed and was gritting his teeth tightly.

“But, just exactly how…?”

Host’s note: There was an image in the middle of this chapter. I decided to cut it out and put it below. I think it’s supposed to represent Hu Feng’s depression and other weird stuff during the dream. The author didn’t credit the original artist and there are too many visually similar images to track it down with google image search. Credits to whoever the original artist is.
