“Seems like the pill is taking effect already…Now, let me see if I can perceive your soul now…” Jin Xia murmured as he reached his right palm towards Hu Feng’s head.
From the beginning, Jin Xia had purposely decided to bring Hu Feng back to the inn and have him take the Heavenly Nightmare pill.
His goal was to attempt to discern Hu Feng’s soul, which he previously could not see at all with his soul eyes.
Although there were several other pills that Jin Xia could have given Hu Feng to help him harness his mentality and emotions, he selected the Heavenly Nightmare pill in the end due to its certain side effect.
And this side effect was that when a person takes the Heavenly Nightmare Pill, while they could indeed have a chance to strengthen their mind, the defensive law around their soul would weaken.
That is because due to the heightened emotions the person would experience, their soul would become unstable.
After all, if one views both their happiest and most nightmarish memories one after another, it would extremely hard to remain calm, much less avoid having their soul be shaken up by all the distorting emotions.
Jin Xia wanted to use this chance, when Hu Feng’s soul was at its weakest, to try and see into his defenseless soul. He wanted to know exactly what special secret the soul of this youth sitting before him held, that even he, a high deity, was unable to see through.
Placing his palm on Hu Feng’s head, Jin Xia forcefully injected a small thread of his soul directly into Hu Feng’s inner soul compartment.
There was a fierce resistance, as expected. But this time, under its weakened state due to the Heavenly Nightmare pill, the defensive around Hu Feng’s soul did not last long before a thread of Jin Xia’s soul slithered past the barrier.

Upon bypassing the strange barrier, Jin Xia was finally able to see Hu Feng’s soul.
But it was nothing like he had expected.
In a completely void domain, a strange white ball of energy was hovering in darkness. It looked as if it was on fire, but there was neither heat nor coldness emitting from the energy.
This was Hu Feng’s soul.
Seeing it now, Jin Xia could detect that this Hu Feng’s innate quality was only around 2…
However, Jin Xia noticed that there were several strange black-colored chains strapped around Hu Feng’s soul.
Jin Xia could not directly feel the energy emitting from the chains, as only a small thread of his soul was within Hu Feng’s inner compartment. But he could still tell that the chains were definitely not simple.
“This…it looks like… a reincarnation restriction seal?!” Jin Xia mused in his mind, his soul trembling with surprise. “But it doesn’t look to be suppressing Hu Feng’s soul, but something else within it?”
Sometimes when a being of great power is reincarnated into another life, there would often be a seal placed on their soul during the reincarnation cycle. This was to prevent their power from running amok the moment they were reincarnated. This kind of restriction was most evident for mighty gods who decided to enter the reincarnation cycle.
The seal was said to lessen its restrictive power as the host’s body gets stronger, until it’s enough to contain the massive power once again in its body.
But this level of constraint was rarely placed on the majority of the reincarnates, and only a few extremely strong beings would have such a restriction.
So how could something like this be on Hu Feng’s soul?!
Hu Feng’s soul was still burning brightly and calmly, signifying that it was not under any stress. But within that white ball of soul energy, Jin Xia could faintly detect the flickering of a red light and a purple light.
But just as he wanted go closer to Hu Feng’s soul, Jin Xia felt his divine sense shake as his soul was suddenly pushed out of Hu Feng’s soul compartment. The force had come from Hu Feng’s soul, or perhaps it would be more correct to say it was from the “thing” inside his soul…

“What a strong willpower…,” Jin Xia murmured in surprise. He had not expect to be forcefully pushed out of someone else’s soul like this, especially one which obviously looked weaker than his own!
Glancing at Hu Feng, who still had his eyes closed and a tense expression on his face, Jin Xia wryly thought to himself: “And it doesn’t seem like this brat had consciously rejected my soul.
…Haha, how interesting…this fatty, I’ve taken an interest in your potential! For you and I to meet, perhaps destiny had intertwined us somehow. If that is so, then helping you…would be equivalent to helping myself!”
At that moment, Jin Xia decided to accept Hu Feng in his mind.
To have such an abnormal soul that could even resist a great deity’s probing, just how many people on this plane, or even among the several worlds, could do that?
Innate quality was the measurement of the strength and caliber of a person’s soul, but Hu Feng’s innate quality was clearly low, yet it could still exhibit such resistance. It was a very bizarre phenomenon that was simply unheard of!
From Jin Xia’s view, Hu Feng’s character was quite to his liking, and even though his innate quality was poor, it was not much of a problem to “correct” it later.
The main important thing was that Hu Feng had a strong soul that did not match the level of his innate quality.
And in this respect, that was what truly piqued Jin Xia’s interest.

Hu Feng slowly opened his eyes as he saw a blank white space in front of him. Turning his head and looking around him, Hu Feng saw that he was in a pitch-white space.
Everywhere he looked there was only whiteness, and nothing else. The place was void of sound. It gave Hu Feng an empty, yet fulfilling feeling at the same time.
“Wh..where is this?” Hu Feng ‘said’ in bewilderment. In actuality, he could not hear himself speak. Everything was being said in his mind. It almost sound as if his voice was being echoed right next to his ears.
*Whoosh!*
Suddenly, the white world twisted and plunged into darkness, forcing Hu Feng to close his eyes. Moments later, voices and clattering of metals filled the air.
Gingerly opening his eyes, Hu Feng was instantly stunned by the scene in front of him.
“D-dad? Mom? Xiao’ mei? And…that’s me?” Hu Feng stammered. In front, he saw his entire family clustered around a modern wooden table.
(TL: “Xiao’ mei = little sister)
A middle aged man, reading a newspaper, sat at end of the table, while a middle aged woman and a young girl with twin tailed hair sat on the right side of the table. A skinny, young man in black jacket sat on the left side.
Fried chickens, stewed soup and green vegetables were placed on the table. Sitting at all four corners of the table were Hu Feng’s parents, sister, and himself.
Hu Feng watched as family laughed and chatted happily at the dinner table. Looking around the modern house design of smooth white walls and decorative vases, Hu Feng’s eyes began to tear.
Am I finally back home?
*Brzzt Brzzt*
Turning his head, Hu Feng towards the other end of the dining room, where a large widescreen television was hung on the wall. The monitor was currently on, as a newsreport was being broadcasted. At the top right corner of the television screen projected the present time and date.

This was the exact same year Hu Feng was in, before he was whisked away to WuDang...

Alek, however, moved quickly, catching her mid-fall and keeping her upright, and alive. Claire lifted her eyes to meet his which were wide with alarm. The expression was fleeting, lasting for only a moment before it was replaced by a frown. "You could have fallen," he said pointedly."I know," Claire breathed, finding her thoughts drifting to the strong arm wrapped around her waist. A flush rose to her cheeks and she was grateful for the biting wind that masked her reaction. "Thank you.""You need to be more careful," he continued, his eyes locked on hers, bright and haunting in the silver glow of the moon overhead."I will," Claire assured him, her heart skipping in her chest.
