Dominic awoke.
He noticed that his heater was running right next to him, and three adventurers had huddled themselves right next to him.
They were seated together, as the heater was running in the middle of them and Dominic who was sleeping in a sleeping bag.
He kept the sleeping bag in his inventory, and made his departure, without making a single sound. There appeared to be a barrier or somesort that was in a dome around them. It shattered upon contact without a sound. And Dominic found himself to be greeted by an early morning scenery in the newbie town.
A few parties were already setting up for departure, as the stores were busy in their early morning business.
The sun hasn't even rised, as the fresh scent of bread and food from the restraunt wafted nearby. Dominic's stomach growled in approval.
Come to think of it, he never had any food from here yet.
There was a WacDonald, which he ignored. He headed towards a restraunt, a family restraunt and was greeted by a rather muscular looking man at the counter. He looked rather intimidating, and had a serious glare as he stared at Dominic.
"table for...4?" he asked. There were three adventurers he noticed sneaking behind.
"Yes" Dominic replied.
"Right this way" he brought them in.
Three adventurers were cramped at the table on the other side, while Dominic sat alone on his side.
"So what would you like to order?" the muscular man said, as he brought out a menu.
"I'm not from around here, so could you reccommend me something?" Dominic asked.
"Alright. So there is the breakfast set that comes with a normal sunnyside up with toast and sausages. Drinks can be chosen between tea or coffee. And there's also the special breakfast for Tuesday. It comes with drinks and whatever the chef has for reccomendation today." the muscular waiter replied.
"Then I would have the later. And...." Dominic looked towards the bashful eyes of the other 3 embarassed adventurers.
"make it 4 sets" he ended.
"Uhm you left behind your heater" the male adventurer stretched out his arms. He offered the heater that Dominic had given them earlier on.

"Oh you can keep it" Dominic replied.
"I don't actually need it after all" he added on. Making Kitzuma, the person offering the heater back, to have no choice but to accept it.
"Actually before that, why don't you introduce yourself?" Dominic asked.
"I'm Kitzuma." the male adventurer said, he was rather scrawny for an adventurer, but he appeared to be a thief class or an assasin with the small dagger hung at his waist.
"I'm Perlin" the violet-haired female priest replied.
"I'm....Rachel" the last one, a 14 year old looking little girl replied. She had opal coloured hair. And a pouting face for some reason, as the other two went pfft.
"Where's your usual introduction?" the two teased.
"I'm the great and mighty fire mage Kevin!" the violet haired mage imitated.
"I'm the female mage with a the name of Kevin~! Who can only cast water spells despite proclaiming to be a fire mage~! " the male adventurer added on.
The little girl mage turned red. And puffed her cheeks like a tomato.
"ahahahha" three people laughed.
With regards to how she came to the name of Kevin, was when the headmaster red the wrong name for her at the graduation ceremony. Apparenty all mages had a magician's name granted by their teachers.
"So...who are you? you don't seem like an adventurer" Kitzuma asked.
The food arrived at the table rather quickly.
"Oh me? I'm Dominic. I came here with a quest" he said. It was a pretty common reason. There were many adventurers here after all.
"Oh. I see" he replied.
"Thanks for the meal" the three said harmoniously, as they dug in.
Garilic bread along with what appeared to be mushroom soup. It had a really creamy taste, so much so that the term soup didn't appear to apply to it. Added on to that, there was a fried chicken drumlet or some giant drumlet belonging to some beast. 40 credits.
It was rather cheap.
"Thank you!" the three adventurers bowed their heads after they had finished their meals and left. They had time to talk about the various stories that had been through. Most of which the guy was secretly ranting to Dominic in a whisper.

Such as how the priest cant aim her buffing spells. Her barrier was only capable of blocking sound. The fire mage casts fire spells despite her low appitude for it. Though her water spells are good, she appeared not to ever want to use them. How their money usually was spent on useless stuff and the like. It was pretty interesting to hear the adventures of a common unlucky adventurer starting out on their life.
After which, Dominic spent his time wandering around the town.Somewhere along the line, he found himself situated at a rather empty part of the town.
"Stop!" he heard a female voice comming from a nearby alleyway.
The female appeared to be an adventurer in chain armor, as she blocked the hits from two muscular guys. Behind her, was another female. Who appeared to be a magician based on the yellow robe she was wearing.
"Move aside, thoese that borrowed money must pay it back! In one way or another." the two males shouted. "If you're going to block our way, I'm afraid that we would have to harm you as well" the continued.
It was a scene out of some adventuring drama series.
"I need a drink to watch this" Dominic thought, as he took out a coke bottle.
He was excitedly waiting for what would happen next, as he started drinking from his coke bottle.
"Uh." the two male adventurers awkwardly looked at him as they turned around.
"Don't mind me, continue" Dominic replied.
"Well then, why don't you come with us, I'm pretty sure our boss has good uses for you!" the two continued their cliched lines.
"Stop right there!" a voice announced.
Dominic almost spat out at the cliche character's appearence.
A handsome youth appeared with his sword blazing and knocked down the two of them with the back of his sword without even asking the reason why they were cornering the two girls. He had intepreted the two girls to be victims or something.
It was pretty exciting though. He saw the swords clash against the character that had appeared. Some fancy moves were done here and there, and the two supposed bad guys were taking down rather quickly.
Glup glup. Dominic drank his drink.
"I had to pay off the hospital fees for my mother...." the voice of the female magician said.
"Woah. Hospital bills sure are heavy aren't they" Dominic thought.
As though the guy who came in didn't even see Dominic, he left with the two girls trailing after him, after he promised to help her pay off her debt.
"Ugh..." the two supposed villians groaned on the floor.
"You want some?" Dominic asked, as he passed them two bottles of coke.
"Oh. Thanks" the two took the drink.
"Man. What am I going to do about my sister's hospital fees now?!" one of the supposed villians cried out.
"Yeah, the boss said he would take my sister and sell her off to repay the debt too!" the other supposed villian cried out as well.
Dominic continued to drink from his coke bottle.
"..." the two awkwardly looked at Dominic.
"Continue, I'm just a passerby" he urged on.
"Let's just report back to the boss, hopefully we'll get another chance" the two scuttered away.
After witnessing something great, Dominic decided to check out the weapons available. Perhaps it was time his siblings get a weapon upgrade as well.
"We have the finest weapons in all Genesia" the weapon owner greeted him after he asked what the shop offered.
Dominic noticed some rather nice ones, however they didn't seem to fit any of his siblings one bit. In the end, he left empty handed.
"I may need some more drinks..." Dominic thought, as he entered a nearby general store. It sold random things, however Dominic's first priority was to empty the fridge of its carbonated drinks. He found himself to be lacking of snacks after looking through his inventory to find coke.
"That'll be.. 3920 credits..." the store owner said, as he recieved the money from selling drinks.
It was a rather strange amount to recieve at once in a general store after all.

8 1140Now That's Entertainment(a system apoc litrpg)
Julia Crane was an experienced police officer who'd thought she'd seen it all. When the world as she knows it ends and the games begin, she realizes she hasn't seen anything yet. Follow along through this system apocalypse style litrpg novel. Contains adult language, realistic depictions of violence, and other possible triggers. I've self published a couple of other novels, but I'm new to royal road so formating and posting schedule is up in the air until I get a handle on the site.
8 79The Beta Test
Our nameless narrator participates in a beta test for an early VRMMO game Meridian 60. That's not the real name but it captures the spirit of the adventure given the chronological and contextual era of the game. His character is unique and special but purely for mundane reasons and not because of any inherent or social significance. The first chapter which is mandatory to submit a story on RR serves as a bit of a prologue with some exposition, although I limited that to a reasonble level. I plan to begin releasing additional chapters starting Thursday, to align with the 48 hour submission approval process and also because I have something to do Wednesday. I haven't written anything but the summary and first chapter, nor have I plotted anything out. This is because my plan is to release roughly 34000 words a day, 10 chapters of ~12.5 pages each, for 3 days at which point the story will be complete. I'd have liked to plan for more but handling the interface tables and so forth needed for a data heavy litrpg slows down the writing process. 100k words is a bit short, a standard pre epic fantasy 300 page spec fic novel, but this is mostly a writing exercise and I am considering a longer project if I can maintain the pace. Probably do a different concept, maybe a dungeon core, over 5 days, since a 500 page novel is more common these days. Slight subversion of VRMMO stories Stat heavy/crunchy No paying your bills by gaming No out of game conspiracies No angst, interpersonal drama, or damsels/dudes in distress Schedule is 30000 words a day excepting the first chapter, a limitation of RRs fiction submission system Fantasy, high magic, male lead, no party, guild, or harem No gore, some profanity, no sexual content, and no current plans for anything traumatic
