《They said I could become anything so I became a _____!!!》Chapter 42: Money

I am currently about to jump down a tree. Why? In order to learn how to fly of course! Morgana is making me company, trying out her new glide skill. After a few (failed) tries I also gained it so right now we are both climbing up the highest tree we could find (within a safe area of course!).
When reaching the top I spread my wings and jump. My wings catches the wind under them and slow down my fall. Morgana is doing the same with her body. Rowan and Zar are following us from the ground, staring up at us as we glide across the sky.
This body is pretty convenient. Despite its cheer size my large wing spann enables me to stay in the air for a prolonged period of time.
But I still can’t truly fly. I simply rest on the winds. Yet it feels pretty nice gliding through the air like this. I also get a really great view! I can see nearly everything from up here. There’s a cliff that looks like a face over there are some stones placed like a smiley!
But I can only glide for a few seconds before I reach the ground. I decide to transform back into my humanoid form.
Morgana lands a few seconds after me.
“Geez bosss! We sshould do that more often! It was really exciting!” Morgana seems really happy. A giantic “flying”, mana draining snake… That thought kinda scares me.
The sound of foot steps comes closer. Rowan and Zar comes running, with Rowan carrying the mangleroots in his arms.
“Mistress, did you land safely?” Rowan asks in a worried voice.
“Yeah, both me and Morgana had a good landing. I think we are getting the basics of gliding right now”.
“Good”.
We decide it’s time to complete the quest and heads back towards Ozlem. When arriving at the gate I order Morgana to turn into her pendant form before standing in line. But this time I let Rowan stay with me. I cannot carry the mangleroots by myself so I need for him to help me. Also Zar didn’t stop complaining that he never got to walk in the city so I bringed him with me too. To my surprise people didn’t seem to care about Rowan. It really does seem like golems are nothing unusual in this world. The only one they raised an eyebrow about was Zar. I guess most people don’t make animal golems. I wonder how they would react if they saw Morgana?
I also noticed that I no longer needs to hypnotise the guard at the gate; I simply show him my adventurer tag and he lets me in. That’s great! I kinda felt a little bit bad when I tricked the previous guard with that leaf. He only did his jobb you know?
When getting into Ozlem I stared asking around for the healer, Ienna. When I did people immediately started pointing me towards a specific direction. This healer is apperantly very well known in the city. We headed towards the appointed direction and soon found ourselves in the richer parts of the city. The buildings were still made out of the mountain itself but these were better built and looked a lot fancier.

The streets were decorated with flowers and statues, occasional fountains could be seen and lanterns made out of thin paper hanged in every doorway. Even the people looked fancier! The women wore heavy exravagant dresses with lots and lots of frills while the men had just as over-the-top coats. I noticed that nearly everyone was human.
Dressed in a black, dirty robe I stick out like a crow amongst peacocks.
I also saw quite a lot of golems but according to my Appraisal most off them were low level, mostly level 3 and 4, and made out of brittle material like clay. These looked quite human, with thin figures and human-like faces. But they all had expressionles eyes. All of them accompanied someone, carrying bags. Servant golems?
((Guys, are you alright?)) I am worried that this makes them feel uncomfortable.
“We are fine mistress but let’s find our employer quick”Rowan answers. “Some of these people have been eyeing both me and Zar for a while now”.
I look behind and I see that Rowan is right. Some people are staring at us, no at them. Why did they suddenly get so interested?
((Hmm, they haven’t done anything yet but for now don’t do or say anything suspisious. Actually, don’t talk at all for the time being. Ok?)).
Rowan and Zar doesn’t answer but I guess that means they understand. I ask another person where I can find Ienna. Her shop is just around the corner., I can’t miss it, he says.
We round the corner and what we find is a row of houses, all shops but amongst them one is standing out more than the others. The whole building is painted blue and the door is red. But what’s weirder than that is the tree seemingly growing out from the house.
Above the red door hangs a sign saying “Iennas Pharmacy and Healing Studio”.
((Seems like we found it…))
I open the door and I, Rowan and Zar walks into the store. A tiny bell rings when we open the door. Even thou the door is big Rowan has to duck when he walks through it. The inside of the store is just as unusual as the outside. The walls are painted yellow and huge shelves covers the walls. They all have poitions, small pouches and scrolls in them in the end of the room I can see a reception desk, an orange door and a spiral staircase. In the middle of the room I can see the rest of the tree I saw outside.
“I’m busy right now but please take a seat! I will soon join you” A young voice suddenly says from upstairs. I decide to follow the advice and sitt down on one of the chairs that stands in the corner of the room Zar lays down beside me and rests his head on my lap. Rowan also tries to sit down on the chair besides me but he is to heavy. I can hear the chair creak under him. I tell him he needs to stand up. I don’t wanna pay for a broken chair.
After about one minute I can hear someone walking down the stairs. I stand up and so does Zar. The person walking down the stairs is a young woman, perhaps in the beginning of her twenties. Wearing a yellow blouse matching the walls and a red red skirt reaching the floor. She is very beautiful with stawberry blonde hair reaching her shoulders, blue eyes and translucent green skin. Green skin?

“Thank you for waiting. My name is Ienna Iieva” she says, stretching out her hand. I grab it.
“Ah, hello. My name is Ruth. I came her to turn in the mangleroots you wanted”. Rowan takes a step forward and shows Ienna the mangleroots.
“Ohhh! That’s perfect! I was just about to run out of them!” she takes forth a tiny pouch from her between her… Assets. “So, how many did you gather?”
“70”.
“Ok, 70 I see, so that makes 140 copper coins. Huh, who could have guessed, I have exactly 140 copper coins in here!” Ienna smiles and gives me the pouch.”Can your golem please carry the mangleroots upstairs and just lay them down on the table there?”
“Yeah, no problem. Can you please do that?” I ask Rowan. He just nods and walk upstairs with all the manglerootsin his arms. Meanwhile Ienna starts to talk with me.
“So, I guess the quest without a hitch?”
“Yeah, we dug up a mandrake by mistake but other than that, nothing else”.
Ienna takes a deep breath and steps forward, grabbing my arms.
“A mandrake!? Are you sure???” she prectically screams.
“U-uhu!” I say while nodding, still in shock from the sudden action. Ienna seems to realize that she startled me and calms down, releasing her grip on me.
“I’m sorry ‘bout that, but tell me, do you still have the body of the mandrake?”
“Y-yeah” I say and picks it up from the bag. After I accidentaly killed it I thought it would be a waste to throw it away so I kept it. I give it to Ienna. She gently takes it from me.
“Good condition… Full adult… Still fresh…” she mumble. I can hear how Rowan is walking down the stairs.
“Uhm, are you ok?” I can’t help but ask.
“Ah, yes! It’s just that mandrakes are pretty hard to come by. May I perhaps buy this from you?” she says holding the mandrake up in the air.
“Oh, uh, yeah that’s fine!”
“Perfect, then perhaps, let us say, 30 silver coins?”
… Th-th-thirty silver coins!? I stare at the mandrake. Does hunting monsters bring this much money? I gotta ask Jeanette when I return to the guild.
After five minutes I walked out of the shop without any mangleroots but with a lot of coins in my pocket. Ienna waves me off when I exits. While I cannot see the sun I can imagine it’s still to esrly to return to the guild and do nothing so I decide to use some of my new money. I never liked to go shopping in my old life but I am in desperate need of equipment right now. My ony armor is my robe and my only weapons is my voice, claws and spells. But I will wait with the weapons for now.
We walk around for a while before I found the perfect shop. Evins Adventurer Shop. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by a 40 year old looking man dressed in simple clothes.
“Good day little lady. Looking for something?”
“I am in need of a light armor for those who use magic” I answer.
“I see, I see. Well the armor is here in the room while the weapons are upstairs. The light armor hangs on the left wall. Just shout if you need something” the man says, nodding. I thank him and start looking around. The left wall… Look at all these armors! Like those I have ofter seen before in games. But none of them seems right. They are either to heavy, to big or to expensive.
Finally I find a set of robes about my size. I pick the lightest one, I don’t want to limit my movements and speed. The robe itself is made out of dark blue cloth and have a very high colar, reaching my cheeks.
I try it on. It fits perfectly! When I take it off something else catches my eye. On display I see a pointy mage hat, those you see on halloween and in movies. Made out of green leather with scales on it. I reach for it but I am to shory. Rowan picks it down for me. I thank him from within my mind. He nods. I put the hat on and I’ve got to admit, it feels really good!
Ok, this is good enough regarding armor for now.
I pay for the armor and now I decide to head back to the guild, but for now I summon Rowan and Zar into the Storage. When I arrive I am greeted by Owen. He gives me a glass of juice, but this time it’s red. It’s bitter but still tasty.
I head up towards the womens room. I am really tired and is in desperate need of a bath. When I enter the room it’s empty so I quickly fill the tub, slip out of my clothes and step into the bath. Ahhhh this is heaven…
“Hey bosss~~~”
“What is it Morgana?”
“Do you remember our deal?”
“..! Wait Morgana not ye-”
Morgana transforms back into her snake form and suddenly a seven meter, maybe 100 kilos reptile cuddels with me in the bath.
“Oh, so thiss is a bath! While I can’t feel the warm water I feel cleaner! I underssstand why fleshies like it!”
“Fleshies?” Zar asks.
“Organic creaturess made out of flessh and blood. Ya know, non-golemsss!”
“Oh, fleshies!”
“Morgana, while I am not against you taking a bath, are you even considering how mistress is feeling?” Rowan asks, sounding irritated.
“Oh, I bet it’s fine! Right bosss?”
“...”
“Bosss?”
Sorry that I can’t answer Morgana, I am to busy drowning underneath your body.
