《Champions of the Boundary》Chapter 0064

(Zack)
"Morning, Gold Max," I ruffle the dogs' fur behind their ears.
The pair of dogs turn their heads and look at me, and I climb out of my bed before quickly dressing. My dogs then follow me out of my room and downstairs to the back yard. There isn't a chance in hell that Father is going to try to keep me in my room if he's letting me have the dogs.
They can't use the toilet.
Well, I could probably train them to, but that's not the point. The maids will clean up the dogs' shit, so once they relieve themselves, I grab a ball and start throwing it, watching as the pair chase after it.
They're awesome. They're not like people, with their simple thoughts. Most of it involves making sure their master is happy, their bellies are full, their bowels and bladders empty, and fun is had.
A lot simpler lives than being human. People are liars, people are cheaters, and people act for selfish reasons. Even me. But my selfish reasons decrease the amount of foreign thoughts I'm reading.
"Did I say you could play with the dogs?" Father asks, and I turn to face him as Max and Gold run up to me.
Then there are people like Father. Controlling. They want everything to be in their control. My gift of sight has let me know he wasn't always like this. Is it because he's taking care of a kid who isn't even his?
If so, then why did he never let me know? Or did he just want to make me suffer, knowing that I struggle to find his source of hatred for me?
"You can't expect me to keep them from getting their exercise and fun, can you?" I ask. "Or are you just looking for reasons to keep me grounded, asshole? You let the dogs into my room. The dogs are my responsibility. I'm taking care of them. I always play with them first thing in the morning. It's their first exercise of the day."
"Zack-" he begins, then stops when the dogs walk up to him, one on each side. "Zack, what did you do?"
Both dogs turn around to face me, then lift their legs. Before Father can stop them, they start pissing on his legs.
"That's it!" Father snaps. "Your grounding is extended, and we're getting rid of these mutts!"
"They're purebreds, and they're mine!" I yell as he reaches for their collars.
Fury engulfs me, and I shove my hands forward. Father is thrown backwards, flying through the glass patio doors.
"Come on, boys!"
I take off running towards the back of the property as Max and Gold follow after me. When I reach the wall, I push off the ground with one foot, flipping up over it and landing on the other side. With a gesture of my hands, my dogs are lifted into the air, landing gently beside me.
They're momentarily confused, but I soothe them with calming thoughts before taking off again, disappearing into the woods behind the property I grew up on.
No one tries to take my dogs away.

I wander around the woods for a few hours, but my stomach starts growling due to having not eaten since last night. I don't have my wallet on me, either, because I wasn't expecting to run away.
They're probably freaked out over that. I've never used my telekinesis around them before. What will they think of that? Are they going to try to cut me up? Or sell me to someone who will? I don't want to be a lab experiment!
Max nuzzles my hand, and I crouch down and scratch behind his ears as I wipe the tears from my eyes. I pull both of the dogs to me, hugging them.
"I love you both," I say. "I won't let anyone take you from me. Stay here, okay? I need to go get some food."
Both dogs plants their asses on the ground, and I make my way into town. Hopefully, no one stops me for truancy. It doesn't take me long to reach the nearest pet store, maybe only an hour. In there, I make my way to the dog food section, running my hand over one of the bags of the kind I feed my dogs.
Looking around to make sure there are no witnesses save the camera, which breaks with a flick of my wrist, I quickly send the bag of dog food into my spatial storage before hurrying out of the aisle, pretending to be startled by the sudden drop of the camera.
No witnesses.
I leave while the employees who came to investigate are puzzling over the incident, then I make my way a few doors down to Walmart. In the grocery section, I take a few items in the same manner as at the pet store, though without breaking cameras.
It's a lot easier because everything's smaller.
Finished, I make my way to another section of the store after grabbing some paper plates, some cups, and some plastic eating utensils. I had to leave everything behind, so there are a few things I need.
Before I grab those, however, I grab a bag of marbles. I had to leave those behind, too, but I like playing with marbles. I also grab some playing cards, then make my way to the camping section, nabbing some of their camping toilet paper and a few other things from there.
With my selection finished, I make my way to the front, where I'm stopped by security, who accuse me of theft.
"Theft?" I snort. "Are you high?"
"Listen here, kid," he grabs my right arm, and I strike with my left hand, snapping his radius and ulna. "You little brat!"
"You assaulted a minor," I take a few steps back. "I was well-within my rights to retaliate. You had no legal or valid reason to grab me. An accusation of being on drugs doesn't count. I don't like being touched, and if the security guards behind me try to manhandle me, I'll break their fucking faces. I didn't steal shit, and this accusation is completely unfounded. I'm not even wearing a fucking jacket, where would I hide anything?"
"Empty your pockets, kid," one of the security guys says.

"No," I fold my arms over my chest. "I'm going to walk out that door, then I'm calling my father and letting him know that you shitheads decided that an unsupervised kid was a fucking thief and decided to fucking manhandle him. As soon as he finds out, he will have your jobs."
"You're in here all the time, brat," one of them says. "You never buy anything, and things go missing after you leave."
"Do you have proof that I'm stealing?" I ask. "Have you seen me steal something? Or are you just speculating and trying to force evidence?"
"We've already called the police," he says. "You're in a deep shit."
"No," I say. "You're all in shit so fucking deep, you'll never fucking escape. Ever."
"Officer," one of the security guys looks behind me. "This kid assaulted our security officer and-"
"No," I turn to face the pair of officers. "I was walking out of here and this jackass grabbed me. I reacted with force against force. They're throwing unfounded theft accusations against me. Does it look like I could have stolen anything? What did I steal? Where did I put them? Oh, no, this fucking unsupervised fucking kid came in and took a fucking look around, like he always fucking does, that means he's a fucking thief, let's just fucking grab him out of nowhere."
I can tell these officers are inclined to believe the guards, even though there's nowhere I could have put a fucking thing. At least, not where they can fucking see.
"I'm going to ask you to empty out your pockets," one of the officers says.
"On what fucking grounds?" I ask. "You were called for a potential thief, and he's a kid? What evidence do they have that I'm stealing? You can be sure my father and I are pressing charges for assault and harassment. In addition, we'll-"
A sudden headache comes on. No, not right now! Don't do this to me!
A boy with blue eyes and sandy-blond hair stares out from under his bed. He's only ten, and fear is clear on his face. He's watching as his identical twin is beaten in their room by their parents. The beating lasts a long time, then the first twin is dropped.
The other twin covers his mouth, scared. He's doing his best to not make a sound. It doesn't matter, though, because his parents lean down and look under the bed. He screams, but they ignore it, pulling him out and start beating him as well. The vision ends when his lights go out and he's left beside his brother.
I don't have time to process what happens to the kids of two of my parents' servants, for when I come to, there are hands feeling me up. I react on instinct, breaking the hands and flipping whoever they are down, smashing their head into the ground with a fist.
"Teach you to fucking grope a fucking kid, you fucking pedophile!" I strike down again, only to find someone pulling me off.
I lash out again, this time driving my foot up into their crotch as my elbow meets their face. Their grip releases me, and I take off out of the store. I don't stop running until I'm in the woods again.
When I find my dogs, I whistle for them to follow and keep running, going deeper into the forest. There, I collapse to the ground and start crying. The dogs lie down beside me, resting their heads on my chest. I reach up and scratch behind their ears.
Why did my life have to go to hell?
I must have fallen asleep, because when I wake up, it's already evening. The dogs are still resting with me, so I gently wake them, then sit up and pull a pair of bowls from my storage, before the bag of dog food. I fill the bowls and send the bag back in, then pull out a box of crackers and start munching.
Tears start falling again as I think about my vision. Why did it have to come then? And why did the officer think it was okay to start feeling me up? I get trying to check someone to see if they stole something, but I had gone unconscious.
That's sexual assault of a minor.
Shame my father's an asshole and hates me. If things had turned out differently the last couple of days, I'd have been able to go straight to him and tell him what happened. He'd put that entire department under fire for it.
They don't know I'm special. Well, they do now, but they don't know that my blackouts are. They don't know I'm having visions of what is to come.
Like that scene…
Luca's parents have always beaten him and Braden. Always. I've never put a stop to it, even though it boils my blood. Luca's too sweet and innocent, he shouldn't be forced into the beatings. I don't really care about Braden, because he's a brat, but…
I can't stop them. Luca and Braden are dying soon. Their parents are killing them. And I can't do a thing to stop them anymore. I should've put a stop to it before, but… it was just too hard. But maybe putting up with it was even harder?
Sobs break out of me, and the dogs stop eating to comfort me. I share some of my crackers with them, then we curl up together and fall asleep. I need to figure out how to put a stop to it. How to stop them from killing Luca.
But what can I do? I'm just a kid!
I hate this world! I don't want to be here anymore! Why do I have to live here? Max and Gold are my only reason for living. Without me, they'd have no one. I'm the only one who understands them, who gets them.
The only one who can truly communicate with them. Why did I have to be born like this? Everything would be so much better if I didn't have these stupid fucking powers!
