《The Demon Lord is Bored》S2 Chapter Eight: Finish Him!

A demon.
That’s what stood in front of them. The three remaining students couldn’t find the strength in themselves to move, let alone think of a strategy to use against their opponents.
But they couldn’t surrender! All of them made that resolve at the same time, they refused to let the Common class be slandered anymore.
A young man activated「Icicle 」, a common-ranked spell, he sent the blades of ice towards Erebus, but they were smacked away like flies. “Seriously?” the boy gasped, his knees trembling. To block magic was one thing, but to knock it aside like that...
Their opponents were too unfair.
Another batch of arrows came and the man who activated「Icicle 」was down for the count.
“This is too easy,” Erebus complained. “Vyne, wipe the rest of them out. Tear and I will be going ahead to catch up with the rest of our class. When you’re done, come back to us.”
There was a small gust of wind and the only one left with the last two people from the Common class squad was Vyne.
He smirked at the poor children and said, “Clench your teeth.”
His words were followed by the sound of trees being destroyed and screams of agony. The people left had been two boys whose faces had been treated the same way as Glasses, except, Vyne didn’t hold back his strength as much, so their faces ended up far more disfigured.
Vyne wiped the blood off of his fist, whistling softly under his breath. “They’re weak, but they still provide some mild entertainment. Watching these bugs scream and cry for mercy when their lives aren’t even in danger makes this trip even more worthwhile.”
He then ran at his full-speed in order to catch up to Erebus and Tear, since they had only been gone for a matter of seconds, it only took him a matter of seconds to reach them so he slowed down.
“How were they?”
“They behaved like lower-life forms should,” Vyne answered his master cheerfully.
Erebus laughed. “That’s good, then. It seems like there’s a huge brawl going on in the plains, shall we join in?”
“Of course!” Tear and Vyne echoed.
The three stopped right at the edge of the forest, right at the clearing where the enormous battle was occurring.
“Is this the entire freshman class?” Vyne asked, surprise coloring his voice. “What’s going on here? There are so many people.”
Erebus scratched his head, his face remaining apathetic. “From the looks of it, our poor classmates got ambushed by the other three classes.” There was a tight circle formed around ten people, who were desperately fighting.
The problem was that they were severely outnumbered. Since the Myth class was only a small group composed of elites, in comparison to the Lord and Common classes which totaled to around one hundred students combined. Then, the King students were also there to apply more pressure on the small groups.

“Uu~ they didn’t even call us over,” Tear grumbled. “I bet they were too arrogant to ask for our help.”
Erebus shrugged. “I think they’re doing pretty well, it’s only been a few minutes since this simulation began and they’re still standing against an enemy of one hundred plus.”
“Wolf is mostly carrying the team,” Vyne input.
The broad-shouldered wolfman was wielding a double-edged axe, since having an actual blade on it would be dangerous, the edges were blunted. Still, he was causing an immense amount of damage to the opposing side. He would blast away enemies with a single swing of his mighty axe.
“It isn’t enough,” Erebus remarked. There were multiple healers standing on the sidelines who would cast their magic on the fallen, their teammates would rise and join the fray once again.
“They’re fighting a losing battle... Wolf claimed that they were going to destroy their opponents, but they’re the ones who are struggling,” Vyne said while shaking his head. “Lord Erebus, should we still join in or should we just watch?”
Erebus squatted down. “Hmm... we’ll join in and save these miserable children. Tear, hide up in the trees and work from there, take out the healers as quickly as possible so they can’t aid each other. Vyne, you and I are going to charge straight through them and meet up with our classmates."
“If we defeat them all quickly while only maximizing five to ten percent of our power, I’ll give you both rewards. I think it’s a good opportunity for you two to learn how to fight while being weakened greatly.”
A new light shone brightly in the eyes of Tear and Vyne. The idea of Lord Erebus praising them could top all of the riches in the world, a new motivation burned within them.
“We will do it!”
“Let’s go, Vyne.” Erebus unsheathed the dulled sword that had been hanging at his hips.
Vyne did the same. “I will move first and clear out a path for Lord Erebus so that you can get to Wolf and the others quickly.”
Erebus shook his head. ‘There’s no need, we’ll go at the same time. Tear, get into position. C’mon, Vyne!” Erebus bolted out readying his sword.
“What the!” a healer shouted just as she was impaled by multiple arrows, just like him, the others began to drop like flies.
Erebus and Vyne blasted through people, but this time, they were rendered unconscious for good since the healers had been wiped out so quickly. Tear switched from attacking the healers to moving onto the mages and other archers who were providing long-range support.
“I won’t let any of their filthy attacks land on my beloved!” she growled, a murderous gleam shone in her eyes, but she didn’t kill anyone, as per orders.
“What’s going on?” an elf from the Myth class, Mimi, asked. “I can’t really see over all of these people.” She used「 Support Magic: Greater Strength」on Rune, Wolf, and a tiny girl with explosive physical power named Claire.「 Greater Strength」allowed one’s strength to be upped for a certain amount of time. People capable of using this type of magic were incredibly rare and coveted, so it was no wonder why she ended up in the Myth class even though her own strength wasn’t that remarkable.

“I don’t know,” Rune answered, struggling to push back a King-ranked swordsman. In this simulation he had lost a great deal of his own power since his specialized magic「 Wild Magic: Rip」was a lethal spell, thus, not allowed. So, he had to rely on his mediocre sword skills and second-rate magic, still, he was better than most of the mages out on the field, but with professionals, without his specialized magic, he would barely qualify for the reserves.
A girl with shockingly neon-green hair jumped out of Rune’s shadow. “Tear, Erebus, and Vyne seemed to have arrived. They’re completely devastating the other classes and making their way towards us. Tear took out all of the healers and most of the mages who are in the back providing support. Erebus and Vyne are pushing through the crowd surrounding us and have taken out a substantial amount of students.”
Wolf thought Alexie was exaggerating when she said that they were “devastating” the other students, but he didn’t say anything about it.“Alexie, will you take Rayne with you to get into contact with them?” Wolf asked, stepping backwards after having dealt with an enchanter. “Bring them here!”
The green-haired girl named Alexie nodded, she puffed out her chest that could contend with Tear’s and smacked it. “I shall do as Leader has ordered. Rayne, let’s go!”
A girl with short, choppy black hair and equally black eyes nodded her head, the scythe that was far too big for her that she had been holding in her hands disappeared. She grasped Alexie’s hand and the two of them melted into a shadow and reappeared next to Vyne and Erebus.
“Grab them and let’s go,” Alexie shouted as she reached out and grabbed Erebus’ arm while Rayne took hold of Vyne. The four of them were swallowed by the shadow of a man who now swung his sword at an empty space.
Erebus, Rayne, Alexie and Vyne surfaced once again, but this time with the rest of the Myth students.
Alexie turned to Erebus. “Where’s Tear?”
“Doing her job, no need to worry,” Erebus answered. “Anyway, may I inquire as to why you brought us over here? We were trying to help you guys break out.”
Wolf growled. “I thought you guys were going to be staying put at the base! Newbies aren’t needed here.”
“Hah? When did we say that, we said we’ll stay in the back. You guys looked like you needed help, so we decided to assist you, aren’t you being rather arrogant, Wolf?” Vyne questioned, his tone was indicative of the annoyance he felt from being scolded by Wolf.
Rune shouted, “This is no time for us to start fighting amongst ourselves! Just get to work.” He parried the sword of a swordswoman and received a blow to the back from a nearby mage.
Alethea, the healer of the Myth class, quickly used「Erase Pain 」so that his injury wouldn’t hold him back.
Erebus shook his head, watching them still barely manage to fight against their opponents even after the long-range mages and healers had been taken care of. “These kids are disappointing, I was expecting the Myth class to be able to support its claims to being the strongest,” he muttered under his breath.
Wolf heard him, but the beastman didn’t display his anger and continued to fight.
Within a couple of minutes, the attacking side had been mostly wiped out. The only remaining members were three people from the King class.
“Dammit!” the commander for the King class roared. “We were going to win... we were going to put you arrogant assholes in your places.”
His sword collided with Erebus’. “Aren’t you being a little presumptuous? I just joined this school, I don’t have anything against you yet you’re calling me arrogant. That makes me a little bit angry, y’know?” He knocked the commander’s sword away and kicked him squarely in the chest, knocking the youth down. “Come on, stand up, weren’t you going to put me in my place?” he taunted the young man, a mocking smirk on his face as he ground his foot into the commander’s stomach.
The commander spat at Erebus.
“That’s rude~” Erebus dug his heel in deeper. “What if that actually landed on my face? Then I’d be really mad, I wouldn’t be able to guarantee you’d walk away with your limbs still intact.”
Erebus removed his foot then kicked the commander for good measure, rendering him unconscious. At that moment, Vyne had just walked up to him. “The simulation is finished, our class has won. We finished within six minutes after restraining ourselves greatly.”
“Eh, really? Good job, good job.” Erebus’ sinister countenance disappeared and was replaced by a serene expression. “I’ll reward you two later.”
Vyne nodded his head, a smile twitching at the corner of his lips. “Yes, my liege.”
Tear, who had leapt out of the trees, ran over to Erebus with her arms opened wide. “Honey, did you see what I did? They had no chance against me.”
She lunged to wrap Erebus in her embrace, but she was swatted away by Vyne. “Who are you calling your honey? Stupid pig.”
Tear’s head was jammed into the earth, so only muffles of her indignance could be heard.
A smile blossomed onto Vyne’s face. “She’s evolved into an ostrich now, perhaps she’ll lay an egg for us to eat.”
Erebus tried not to, but he couldn’t help but chuckle, she really did look like an ostrich hiding its head in the sand.
