《The Demon Lord is Bored》Special Four: His Promise

The being that went by the name “Sarah Green” displayed a very distasteful expression at his visitors. “To be found out so quickly and easily... Who are you two?”
Vyne opened his mouth to speak, but Tear intervened and spoke, “My name is Tear of the Moon Goddess. My clan hails from the Lower Continent.”
“Ah, that clan with terrible naming abilities,” Sarah said without any hesitation. “Nonetheless, that would mean you are also a High Human? The same goes for him?”
“Nonsense. Please do not put me in a group with the likes of you two,” Vyne snapped at Sarah. “I am Vyne of Tartarus, my ancestor is the glorious Laufeia.”
Sarah scratched his head. “Is that so...”
Tear smiled brightly. “Is there somewhere we can sit? I would love to speak to you and hear your story.”
“I don’t exactly trust you,” Sarah spoke honestly.
Her smile disappeared instantly. “Why not?”
“You appeared, no, broke into my house at this hour and expect me to greet you warmly with tea and expose all my secrets? How do I know you’re not hired to kill me, eh?”
A coldness began to enter Tear’s eyes. “The only one who can give me orders is Lord Erebus, and he would never deem you worthy enough of his attention. Nor would you ever be a threat he would need to kill,” she hissed. “For you to even imply that angers me greatly.”
“Huh, so you’re that type,” was all Sarah said.
Vyne resisted an urge that bubbled up inside of him. Most would cower in fear of the rapid change of Tear’s aura that was bordering murderous, but Sarah maintained an apathetic countenance.
Ah... he would love to break that cool expression and turn it into something miserable and disgusting.
“Would you stop being so discourteous and at least show your real face, and tell us your real name?” Vyne smirked.
Sarah’s eyes darted between the two, obviously trying to judge their intentions before sighing as if he had given up. “Fine, fine.” He put up his hands in surrender.
The body of the elderly woman rippled and glowed before fading away, leaving a young man in its wake.
He was handsome enough, at the same time he was nothing truly noteworthy. If anything, his description would tilt more towards average. Dirty blond hair, hazel eyes, there was still a youthful plumpness in his face that gave him a more teenage appearance though he was multitudes older than that. Actually, rather than being handsome or average, he was adorable. In a harmless rabbit kind of way.

“My name is Dark Mist, I hail from the Mist tribe in the Lower Continent.”
Whose clan had the terrible naming skills! Tear wanted to scream. What kind of name was Dark Mist? Was it supposed to sound cool? Huh, huh? There was nothing dark about him! If anything, they should’ve named him Cherry Boy.
Dark, who was completely unaware of Tear’s insults being flung at him, stood up tall as if there was something daunting about him.
“A pleasure to meet you both,” he said mockingly and added in a sarcastic bow.
Ah, that personality of his was annoying. Did he want to fight or something? What was with that cheeky attitude?
Tear had been ecstatic to meet him, but the more he spoke, the more she grew to dislike him. No, he was something like the irritating little brother.
“Do we take him back to Lord Erebus?” Vyne asked Tear suddenly.
Her head tilted. Honestly, she hadn’t even thought this far. She didn’t think they’d be able to find one so quickly, what was she supposed to do?
Carry out the bloodline, or something. Wouldn’t that require her to reproduce with this man? Ah, that would be absolutely impossible, no matter how she looked at it, he looked like a brat.
But finding another one would certainly not be as easy as the first.
“I guess so?” Tear rubbed her chin. “Lord Erebus probably wouldn’t mind, rather, he definitely wouldn’t care even if we brought ten thousand people... as long as he didn’t have to deal with them.”
They served someone who sounded incredibly irresponsible. What was with that type of carefree attitude? Were they joking? They couldn’t be joking, they looked way too serious. Wait! Why were they talking about taking him somewhere without his consent?
“You’re forgetting about me,” Dark said after having a mental rant. “I do have a will. I also have a business to run.”
“What you want is insignificant,” two voices spoke in sync.
Dark’s eyebrow twitched. They were underestimating him! Did they think he was able to continue living by just batting his eyelashes and putting on disguises? He knew how to fight, and he was very good at it.
Even if there were two of them, he was confident in his abilities to get away.

But if only he knew that the two standing in front of him could only be considered complete monsters. Their strength individually could be beaten by many, but when combined, despite their attitudes towards each other, would undoubtedly classify them as Demon Emperor rank.
“I’m not going anywhere with you,” Dark reasserted. “My business is thriving! Do you think I can just up and leave after being in this place for so long? Something like that... I can’t do it.”
Tear and Vyne were not so kind-hearted to let his reasoning hinder them. “You’re coming with us. I have the promise to withhold with my mother.”
“That is,” Dark hesitated. No! He couldn’t let himself be outdone. “I have a promise, too!”
“What is it?”
He blinked in surprise.
“Your promise,” Tear growled, obviously annoyed, “what is it?”
Dark sniffed. “I have no reason to tell you.”
Something could be heard snapping.
“Ah, you’ve made her really mad now,” Vyne said as Tear stalked forward and grabbed Dark by the fabric of his shirt, yanking his face close to his.
“Every minute I spend away from Lord Erebus shortens my temper, you’re making that even worse. I was really happy, you know? To meet one of my own kind. But it’s someone like you, I cannot stand your type.”
Dark, to his credit, didn’t look at all scared. “If you’d let me go, I will tell you.”
Tear clicked her tongue and released him.
Vyne couldn’t help but think as he watched the scene, that Tear seemed more like a gangster trying to extort Dark out of money.
Similar to her child side, she had this one after being separated from Lord Erebus too long. Vyne had seen a very wide variety of her quick persona changes, only in front of Erebus did she “behave”. In his opinion, they were all rather amusing till they grew to be annoying.
Actually, whenever she left Lord Erebus, there was a progression of her attitudes. Childish, hotheaded, then finally, a sniveling mess.
He hoped they weren’t gone long enough for the final stage.
“I promised my family that I would live my life how I wanted, and that I wouldn’t be bound by carrying out our legacy.”
Two completely different sides, Vyne thought.
Dark clenched his fist. “My dream was to be a great healer, and here I am doing so! I refuse to go with you.”
“My promise was to continue our bloodline,” Tear responded. “Therefore, I need a High Human male.”
His eyes bulged. “No way! I’m too young to become a father.”
Dark... you were at least five hundred years old, weren’t you? Exactly how old did one have to be to be qualified as old enough?
Tear narrowed her eyes.
“Stop whining! Not now, obviously, you idiot! I’m busy.”
But you have enough time to come in pester me? Dark cried in his mind.
“My answer is final. Get out!”
“Vyne,” Tear said, turning to her partner.
He smiled innocently. “Yes, pig?”
“Can you knock him out cold, I don’t want to deal with this anymore.” Tear asked, clapping her hands together.
“No problem.” Vyne disappeared from his spot and behind Dark.
“Wha--” Dark gasped, but he was rendered unconscious by Vyne.
Since none of them cared to catch him, his body collapsed onto the ground with a thud.
“Are we kidnapping him?” Vyne asked Tear, obviously amused by her tactics.
“Mm, I need to see Lord Erebus in order to purge the anger welling up inside of me.”
Vyne, who was unsurprisingly used to kidnappings, cast his illusion magic on the unconscious Dark so that he looked like a scarf, then tossed Dark over his shoulder.
Their casual attitudes for having just knocked a man out and planned to kidnap him should worry their master. Then again, with that personality of his, he wouldn’t think anything of it.
“Let’s go.”
Tear nodded their head, and without looking back, they made their way to the exit of the Milon Capital.
A Capital that would now be without a pharmacist.
While at the same time, the castle belonging to the Dragon Erebus gained another member.
