《The Demon Lord is Bored》Chapter Sixty-Three: Falling

“What kind of situation...” Vyne questioned as a dozen or so goliaths looked over them with threatening gazes.
“A dangerous one, a very dangerous one.” Lilian looked at Erebus. “My Lord, shall we deal with these too?”
Erebus looked thoughtful for a moment. “You all may rest, Lilian’s summoned servant and I will handle the issue.”
Untitled nodded his head in understanding. “Similar to old times, correct Erebus?”
With laughter, the ancient dragon spoke, “Indeed!”
“Old times?” Lilian chimed.
“A tale from centuries ago when you were just a babe, Master,” Untitled said with a kind voice. “He and I were friends some time ago.”
“How else would I have the crystal containing his soul?” Erebus asked.
Lilian don’t answer that. Don’t let him know that you had thought of him as a grave robber.
She opted for shrugging instead. And Erebus didn’t care enough to press the matter, so she was safe. Well, as safe as she could be with more and more goliaths walking out of the door.
“Then, let’s get started!” Erebus clapped his hands together excitedly. “You three stand back, wouldn’t want you getting caught up in this, would you?”
They did as Erebus said. He had told them before, he wasn’t kind enough to care if they got hit by any stray attacks.
The goliaths all focused in on the two small bodies approaching them.
“Hello there,” Erebus said in a joyful tone. “I don’t suppose you’ll let us pass through?”
The goliath in the front huffed heavily and roared in response.
“I don’t, I don’t know what that means.” Erebus gave the goliath a confused look. “But I’ll take it as a no.”
Untitled glanced over at Erebus. Well, it was kind of hard to tell that he was looking over because he did not have eyes. Except for the two pits of burning fire, his eye sockets were empty... I digress, he was confused as to why Erebus was acting in such a manner.
The beast were clearly incapable of speech, and it was doubtful that they were able to understand a single word Erebus or the others had spoken.
Untitled raised up his hand and released a barrage of the same missiles he had sent on the first goliath. This, however, had less power focused in it so the goliaths weren’t really harmed.
“Hey, why’d you hit them already?” Erebus pouted.
“Forgive me, Erebus. Normally you would act as the rash one, but it seems as if today is different. You seem to be in a joking mood.”

The dragon shrugged. “Boredom changes people.”
“I think it’s the first time I’ve heard words put like that.”
“There’s a first for everything.”
The two had a casual conversation without paying any heed to the now very angry goliaths. But just as they were angry, they were confused. Especially their leader, the two small ones had attacked them, but now the small ones were speaking?
Ah, this was confusing, it made its head hurt. It only knew how to fight, so it decided to do just that.
With a deafening cry, it launched its lance at Erebus and Untitled who both, in turn, narrowly avoided the hit.
Erebus darted towards the leader goliath, and with a swift movement managed to remove its head with a brutal kick. He landed on his feet and made a slightly pained expression. “Tough skull.”
“I think your leg strength is even scarier,” Untitled retorted as he continued to release powerful blows unto the goliaths.
Their strategy was something like this, Untitled acted as crowd control while Erebus quickly eliminated them one by one. Even though they were moving rapidly, far more efficiently than Erebus’ subordinates, the goliaths continued to enter so their number wasn’t really diminished.
“Watching them makes me feel ashamed for my weakness,” Vyne said with a bitter tone. “Lord Erebus’ strength is still so far superior to my own, and he isn’t at his full strength.”
Lilian glanced over at Vyne quickly before placing her gaze back on Untitled and Erebus. “That much is to be expected, he has centuries of experience over us. Did you think your measly power could compare to his?”
“No, I was just saying,” Vyne muttered in annoyance.
“Huh? Are you trying to imply that you’re surprised by this?”
“No...”
Tear was too busy staring at Erebus longingly to contribute to the conversation. “I think Lord Erebus looks absolutely delicious in those pants, ah, my heart. What a nice position.”
“Perverted woman.”
“Disgusting pig, if Lord Erebus gave me word, I would gladly gouge your filthy eyes out.”
Erebus felt himself shiver from Tear’s hungry stare. Uncomfortable, she was making him incredibly uncomfortable.
Focus on the battle ahead of you, Erebus. For your sake, don’t look back, there’s a starving wolf back there.
Erebus activated a spell that tore through the cores of five goliaths, sucking them into the cube-shaped box. Despite devouring them, the size of the box didn’t change. Instead, with a single snap of Erebus’ finger it disappeared into thin air.
Untitled threw his own lance that impaled two goliaths and lit them on fire, their bodies were instantly disintegrated.

Within a minute or two, the seven goliaths were replaced with another group coming out of the door.
“How many are there?” Erebus complained. It was fun in the beginning, now it was just a tedious task. It was like raking leaves, but then the wind came and blew them all out of the pile and you had to do the job all over again.
Annoying, so annoying.
He decapitates another multitude of goliaths, and just like that more came back.
It looked as if Erebus and Untitled hadn’t done anything at all, but they had been doing this for at least an hour.
“Maybe we should go inside of the door and see what’s there?” Untitled suggested. “Maybe there’s a spawning point where the goliaths are being sent out of. If we destroy it, we could easily wipe the rest of them out.”
“Ah, good idea,” Erebus said joyfully. “Tear, Lilian, Vyne! Follow us, we’re going in the door.”
“W-what?” Vyne stumbled over his words. “We’re going in? Why?”
“Understood,” Lilian said.
Tear nodded her head.
Using the heads of the idiotic goliaths, the six were easily able to leap inside of the abyss the door opened into.
The goliaths shrieked in annoyance and attempted to stop them, but their movements were too fast for the goliaths to keep up with.
When they entered the abyss, they were sucked away by a strong vortex.
“Grab the hands of those around you!” Erebus quickly barked in case they were to be separated. With great difficulty, they managed to move close enough to each other so they were all able to link hands.
There was absolutely no scenery, just a black abyss and the feeling of being pulled far away. Then they were falling, very, very fast.
“Am I going to die?” Tear whimpered as she felt her body being yanked down by the force of gravity. “I really don’t want to die.”
“Shut up, pig,” Vyne responded quickly.
She clung latched herself onto Erebus. “If I’m going to die, at least I’ll die in my lover’s arms.”
“Who’s your lover?” Erebus retorted.
Tear said nothing, rather she rubbed her head lovingly against his chest.
“Oh, I see the ground coming,” Untitled said, not really concerned about the concept of dying. See, he was already dead, he really couldn’t ‘die’ again. At most, he would be unsummoned and sent back to the Spirit Realm.
However, it would be highly unlikely for Lilian to be able to summon him again, not only did the crystal contain a piece of his soul, it was also loaded with mana to supplement her own. This was why she was able to keep him summoned for long, and since he was a high level undead, he didn’t drain any of her mana instead he had his own supply.
Tear shrieked and tightened her octopus-like grip on Erebus, she squeezed her eyes shut, ready for death to take her. But nothing game, actually, the ground they landed on was soft, it took the entire force of their fall but none of them were injured. They were lightly thrown in the air before they bounced back onto the squishy earth.
“Overdramatic swine, we’re fine.” Vyne yanked her off of Erebus and gave her a menacing glare.
“What is this?” Lilian questioned as she pushed against the soft material. It was slightly sticky and damp, overall, it had a disgusting feeling. Not to mention it was an ugly pink in color with green splotches.
“Looks diseased,” Tear muttered. “I’m feeling a little queasy by looking at it.”
“This color hurts my eye,” Erebus complained, rubbing his one revealed eye. “Anyway, do you see any spawn point for the goliaths? And how do we get out of this place.” He glanced around, the only thing he could see was the expanse of nasty looking ground(?).
“No,” Untitled stood up shakily, the substance they stood on was unstable and wiggled with every movement. “It seems we’ve been transported to somewhere else.”
“What’s that noise?”
“Please don’t tell me it’s more enemies,” Tear begged.
There was a scuttling noise, along with the sound of multiple feet moving rapidly.
“Ugh.” Tear looked ready to barf. “It’s happening, I already know it’s happening.”
Vyne shot her a silencing glare as the creature finally came into their sights. It was a caterpillar. Except, it looked like something out of a child’s horror story that had been colored in with neon crayons.
Its face was huge and circular and resembled a baby, except it wore more make-up. Its plump lips were a bright, cherry red, its eyelashes were caked in mascara, it was wearing blush that made its cheeks resemble a certain character (Pikachu).
“That’s just disturbing,” Erebus said in usion with everyone else.
The creature spoke in an annoyingly high-pitched, sweet voice, “Hello there! May I ask who all of you are? It’s been so long since I’ve had visitors. And you all look so tasty, too.”
“Who are you?” Vyne asked it instead.
The creature gasped. “My apologies, where are my manners today! My name is Muffin and I’m a creation of the one who made this dungeon."
