《The Demon Lord is Bored》Chapter Fifty-Four: Dueling Dragons

Erebus turned to the others inside of the ballroom. “If you don’t want to die, I suggest you run now. I’m not thoughtful enough to pay attention to any collateral damage.”

With the entire foundation of the building rumbling, Erebus did not have to tell them twice.

Even Erebus’ subordinates and Weryn escaped to where they would not be in the splash zone of the fight.

A battle between two dragons was already a disaster.

A battle between four meant complete and total destruction.

“Well, children. We’ll allow you the first blow,” Erebus spoke to the twins in a mocking tone.

The first blow! It was an honor to be able to deal the first blow in dragon culture. However, for dragons who had betrayed their people, it was nothing more than a joke.

Erebus spread out his arms, palms up. “I’ll even restrict the amount of strength I use. Aren’t I being generous? Your chances of winning are rising!”

He laughed.

Frize shook his head. Actually, he liked the careless Erebus more. Sometimes, Erebus’ side which reveled in dark humor would rear its ugly head.

Ludis nodded at his brother. They made a silent pact. Syron would fight Frize, and he would fight Erebus.

With a roar, the body of Ludis began to morph rapidly, transforming into a golden-bodied dragon.

It goes without saying, that his body did not fit within the glass and crystal structure.

The humongous size of the average dragon would not fit inside a building unless it was miles long.

A normal full-grown dragon had the wingspan of at least half a mile. If their wingspan was any smaller than that, they would typically have long, serpent-like bodies that made up for the difference.

His growing figure tore through the supports, sending the building crashing down. Erebus, Frize, and Syron protected their bodies with magic as everything came falling down.

However, some people did not survive the collapse of the building, they had taken their sweet time evacuating. The corpses were impaled with huge shards of glass or a chunk of heavy crystal crushed their bodies underneath it.

Pools of blood seeped out.

Despite this scene, Ludis was not pulling any punches, he swung his speared tail at Erebus in hopes of damaging him gruesomely.

Of course, it would heal. But within the rules of the duel, he would be incapacitated for quite some time meaning it would be Ludis’ win!

Erebus, who was now standing on top of the fallen structure, took the blow head on without blocking or shifting forms.

His body was sent flying like a ragdoll. The sound of him crashing through the city of Legacia could be heard. There was a large, dry thud could be heard when his body collided with the magically reinforced wall.

Ludis flapped his mighty wings and shot off towards the direction Erebus was sent in.

Frize turned to Syron, who had also shifted.“I hope you do not plan on hitting me in such a manner. My clothing is rather nice, I believe. And it would actually make me very mad if you were to do--”

Frize was smacked by Syron and was sent spiraling off to the same direction Erebus was sent.

His body slammed against the wall, leaving a nice, circular dent.

“That brat!” he roared, other than minor scratches, he was completely unharmed.

The same went for Erebus who was now swiftly avoiding all of Ludis’ desperate attacks.

It was an amazing sight, Erebus was laughing joyfully and dodging attacks that could easily break the bones in his body as if it was nothing.

“I finally get to stretch my wings for real,” he said while jumping over Ludis’ tail and landing on the other dragons head.

He rose his leg straight into the air before dropping it down onto the crown of Ludis’ head, a loud crack sounded throughout and Ludis’ head slammed into the ground.

The wound that appeared on Ludis was healed within a few moments. But, another dragon had appeared where Erebus was.

Hovering in the sky with his mighty wings spread, a pitch-black scaled dragon stared down at Ludis with mitch-matched eyes full of arrogance.

“Come on now, child,” he spoke in their native tongue. “I’ll honor your courage and fight you properly.”

Ludis roared loudly, the dragon screech was accompanied by him flapping his wings and full-on tackling Erebus.

At their collision, a sonic boom clapped through the air.

Frize casually turned his head. “So they’re going all out, huh? Well, Erebus is still holding back a little.”

Currently, Frize was seated on Syron’s snout. His legs were crossed and his overall expression was unamused.

He leaped off of Syron’s body and plummeted to the ground as the had been flying in the air.

His formed morphed into that of a pale-scaled dragon. Frize’s dragon form was smaller than Erebus’ and did not contain the same bulky muscles, but rather had a more slender, regal appearance.

Just before he hit the ground, where only rubble was left from their battle, Frize swooped back up, his head facing Syron.

He opened his mouth and a powerful tornado of icy air smashed into the golden dragon.

Syron screeched in pain as the whipping wind tore at his scales before passing through his body. Bloody scratches were left, but similar to Ludis’ wound, they were gone within moments.

But it was enough time for Frize to slam his tail into Syron’s stomach and make the other dragon bend over at the impact.

While this was happening, Erebus and Ludis were twisting around each other, landing blows with their heavy and massive tails.

Erebus’ eyes were full of delight.

The dragons had only used the Courtesy of Honor before to the sinners. But Erebus had not been the dragon involved in dueling the ones who betrayed the law of this world.

Those who had retreated to a (relatively) safe area, were watching the battle with wide eyes.

Due to their enormous size, the dragon’s battle was easy to see from a distance. So, even though Legacia was huge, it was possible to see every moment.

The citizens and ball attendees were stupefied. They had heard of the dragon's power, but they never knew it would be on this colossal level.

Weryn, too, stood with his mouth open. How wrong he had been an extremely skilled. Watching this battle, he realized that he still a very long way to go until he was at such a level.

The ongoing battle was difficult to describe with words. It was purely epic.

Magic that could easily surprise Myth ranked was being utilized as if it were nothing! Loud booms and cracks were heard every time a blow landed.

Erebus was currently utilizing his [Lost Magic: Void] in a way the others had not seen. Instead of it completely sucking and devouring everything in its path, it simply stuck to the scales of Ludis and large chunks of his body would disappear in a bloody mess before growing back.

Slowly, he was chipping away at Ludis’ mana reserves.

Even though a dragon’s regeneration was top notch, it required magic. That meant only the originals could constantly regenerate nonfatal attacks. For Ludis, he could only heal his body completely to a certain amount before he would run out of reserved mana.

Then he would start having to take mana from the atmosphere, but the process of that healing would be far slower.

Meaning that he would be severely weakened and unable to heal properly unless he focused his entire attention to it.

Ludis knew this fact, but it wasn’t like he could simply ignore the damage he was taking in rapidly.

He sent off a large fireball that hit Erebus squarely on the chest, but it only resulted in a small wound that would heal.

All dragons had an amazing resistance to magic and physical attacks, especially fire-based.

It wasn’t like they were immune to it, though. If Ludis was capable of producing a ball with more concentrated mana, it would damage Erebus significantly.

Alas, he was not at that level for a plain reason.

Instead of specializing in one type of magic like the others did, Ludis focused on all of the elemental magic and their subtypes.

More specifically, he was a veteran at [Combination Magic: Elemental King]. Individually, his magic wasn’t incredibly power. But when melded together, he was a fearsome opponent.

Normally, he would use his [Combination Magic: Elemental King], but the downside was combination magic was that it required an enormous amount of mana.

Since he was healing himself constantly, he couldn’t afford to take an even bigger hit to his mana reserves.

Thus, he opted for lower-powered attacks but using them at a higher frequency.

Still, he was running out of power. It would only be a matter of time before he would have to start drawing mana from his surroundings, ultimately meaning his complete loss.
