《The Demon Lord is Bored》Chapter Fifty: Legacia

The [Hungry Bear Caverns] were located a short distance from the Rocky Village at the base of a nearby mountain, its gaping mouth was located.

Hot air could be felt circulating inside and the was dry and left a sandy taste in your mouth.

Six figures were walking through the crude caverns with rocks that hung from the ceiling like teeth ready to destroy and consume.

“This place is creepy,” Weryn complained, his voice echoing throughout the empty, vast space. “Aren’t there supposed to be monsters? Where are they?”

Frize looked back at Erebus. “Is he always this talkative?”

Erebus nodded, bearing a saddened expression. Frize let out an exhausted sigh.

“Listen, boy. It’s common knowledge that the monsters of a dungeon don’t appear until you’re reasonably deep within.”

Erebus swallowed. He did not know of such things!

“Nevermind that, this place is absolutely filthy! My beautiful clothes are being messed up... I’ll have to buy new ones in Zylon,” Frize wailed as his freshly polished boots dirtied and dirty water droplets soiled his pristine clothing.

Everyone else, who had been covered in blood, guts, and dirt far more than they would like, could care less about something as simple as filthy water and dirt on their shoes!

They had gone days without bathing before, living in the terrible stench of decay and must!

The resistance that they had was not something to be scoffed at.

“Stop whining,” Erebus told Frize.

Frize narrowed his narrowed eyes even more. If he narrowed them anymore, it’ll be impossible for him to see properly.

“Unlike your savage-like tendencies--”

“Who’s a savage?”

“Obviously, I meant you.”

They were at it again!

The two started sending unveiled insults at each other. Memories of Vyne and Tear’s constant arguing surface.

Since those two had finally stopped going for each other’s jugular, Erebus and Frize took up the role.

Everyone was surprised to see their lord acting with such vigor. It may not have been the most positive way to express himself, but it was still refreshing to see him full of energy. Normally, he would watch everything with uninterested eyes and act as if it didn’t affect him.

He rarely showed his emotion even when he was irritated, so for Frize to draw such a (violent) reaction from his was nothing less than amazing to them.

Thus, they headed deeper into the dim caverns.

From a distance, a mixture of wailing and groaning could be heard from multiple voices, blending together into an overall eerie dissonance. Along with that, a voice could be singing a haunting melody that was strangely enthralling when paired with the dissonance.

“Oh, a siren’s lurking in these caves? That’s strange... they can be Demon to Demon Lord ranking, so I don’t get why’d they be in such a simple dungeon,” Frize said as he listened to the enchanting song.

Erebus’ eyes twinkled. “Shall we go see why?”

Frize shook his head. “We have other business to deal with rather than dealing with those melodramatic creatures.” When Erebus opened his mouth to protest, Frize simply said a name, “Rolut would wish so, too.”

Damn that name-dropper!

Erebus clicked his tongue and kept moving.

Just who was this Rolut person capable of subduing their master! Erebus’ subordinates eyes were full of confusion, they could assume as much as they wanted, but they had no solid evidence for their thoughts.

With a heavy sigh, they kept moving. The distant singing grew softer and softer until it completely faded.

“Actually, this is getting even stranger. For there to be no monsters and we’re already this far.” Erebus looked around the quiet surroundings. He had expected at least one enemy...

Frize nodded his head. “You’re correct, it’s odd. Perhaps because of the siren? Hmm, a blessing in disguise. We can progress much faster this way!”

And they did, on their way, they passed by humungous bears with thick fur that looked like it absorb nearly every physical attack. The bears were all sleeping peacefully due to the siren’s song and didn’t even stir.

Truly a tranquil adventure.

Frize did not have to dirty his luxurious clothing anymore.

They exited the [Hungry Bear Caverns] within an hour or so of entering its confines. Erebus looked truly saddened that they were unable to do anything that was interesting, nonetheless, he kept his complaints (more or less) to himself.

“Where exactly are we headed?” Tear whined as she fanned herself. Outside of the caverns was a desert area, the heat was nearly unbearable.

Of course, Weryn, Erebus, and Frize who lived on a continent that could be described as ‘hotter than Hell’ were not at all phased by such a measly temperature.

To them, everything else was cool.

Heat waves that caused people to pass out and faint were nothing to them but a wimpy blast of lukewarm air.

Frize took out an extensive map of the Lower Continent and laid it on the sand as he looked for their location among the jumble of lines.

“Currently, we’re here.” He tapped an area in the northwestern area. Even though the [Hungry Bear Caverns] and [Spirited Away Grassland] were located south of Karun, they were still in the northern part of the Lower Continent.

Frize drew his elegant finger down to a location south of the area they were in, dubbed the [Scorching Desert]. “We’re going to to Legacia. Here. It’s a couple days walk or so, as I said before.”

The others who had surrounded him, all nodded their heads.

“Well, let’s get moving.” Erebus heaved out a sigh, wanting to get this over with already. He had absolutely no interest in these things and just wanted to get back to his adventure.

Something that’s more entertaining than this!

They continued to progress through the [Scorching Desert]. Thanks to Frize’s magic, he created a current of cool air around them, so the temperature became a thing of the past. Along with Weryn’s ice magic, the heat of the desert became nothing more than a joke.

Also, because they had high stamina, they took absolutely no rest. Well, their rest was slowing down the pace ever so slightly before speeding up again.

A desert that took most people days to cross was shaved down to a few hours.

After the desert, they went through multiple regions of different ominous names and irritating monsters that were nothing but cockroaches under the feet of Frize and Erebus.

And, just as Frize had said, they arrived at Legacia within two days. They could’ve made it in less than a day if they hadn’t taken the time to go to sleep and moved at their so-called leisurely (the pace they moved at was inhuman) speed.

“Here we are!” Frize spoke excitedly as a huge wall came into view.

Vyne blinked in surprise. “Legacia was one of the walled cities we heard about?”

Frize nodded his head. “It’s been declared as the largest and safest city in the entire Lower Continent. Many people live here, and nobles love to take vacations hera and hold parties due to its beauty.”

“Eh? That so...” Erebus whistled in his bored voice.

He crossed his arms over his head as they descended down the hill that lead to the gates of Legacia.

Two guards were shimmering silver armor greeted them at the gates, “Welcome to the Walled City Legacia. ID please.”

Erebus eyed their overly fancy attire with a look of detached interest. For some mere guards to be wearing that expensive gear... Seems like this place had a lot of money to waste.

They handed over their identity cards, the guard’s eyes bulged a little when they read the races on their guards.

“E-esteemed guest, please enjoy your stay!” Their tone had completely changed to that of respect.

Unlike what Erebus, Tear, and Vyne had shown the guards of the Milon capital, these were their real IDs and not fake ones created by Vyne’s specialty magic.

They walked into the town, the guards still bowing to them profusely. Even though it was never established, the dragons were the rulers of this world! If anyone disrespected them... who knew of the dire consequences.

“Hmm, first, let’s get you guys some better wardrobes. It shouldn’t be that hard to find places. After that, we can check in at an inn and get cleaned up, then we can meet with Seira.”

Erebus made a face.

This guy.

Frize had completely taken over the leadership role even though no one offered it to him. In fact, none of them were actually listening to what he said completely! They just gathered bits and pieces of the whole and worked with that information.

The air dragon walked with purpose in his step. This is what he was suited for! Civilized, clean living. Not bloody fights and gore.

He couldn’t help but smile to himself.

The town was gorgeous, the mana channel was wonderful and rejuvenating. The sound of merchants shouting out their goods and prices melded beautiful with the composite of voices engaged in casual conversation.

Every now and then, laughter could be heard. Birds sung songs of joy, windchimes played in the softly blowing wind.

The expensive stone that paved the ground made the most splendid noise when his equally expensive shoes tapped against it.

Of course, he managed to remove the image of the bloodied quintet that trailed behind him from his memory.

Due to his magic, he was able to escape the flying blood. But Erebus and the others could care less! Within a few fights, they returned to their crimson and dirt smeared appearance.

To Frize, it was such a shame. All of them were amazingly good-looking yet they soiled their beautiful visages with such filth!

Ah, he swooned a little.

How tragic.
