《The Demon Lord is Bored》Chapter Forty-Eight: Completely Normal

The banshee instantly drew back and tried to flee, but Vyne was far faster than she.

Banshees did not have very much combat capabilities, they were members of the demon race, but they were incredibly weak. Their duty was not to fight, after all. They were simply the heralds of Death.

They were able to paralyze others with their scream if they enchanted it with magic, and with that they could either kill their enemy or run.

However, that required taking her enemies by surprise. Something that she currently did not have. They were all, including the soft-hearted Weryn, were staring at her with intense glares of annoyance and irritation. How dare she put them in this place and expect for them to stay here until they died?

So, she opted for escaping.

With a flap of his mighty wings, Vyne shot towards the banshee, getting ready to tear out her heart.

He knew of no mercy.

The banshee started to wail when she realized she wouldn’t be fast enough to get away.

Vyne threw his sword and it impaled her translucent body, anchoring her to the stone wall of the cave.

Her screeching continued.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, please don’t kill me! Please!” The banshees pleas went ignored.

They wanted to get out of here, there was no way that they would give in to the begging of the one who put them in this situation!

But wait... wasn’t Erebus the one who suggested they come here in the first place?

Ah, I said nothing. Nothing at all.

In no way shape or form was this Erebus’ fault.

Ehm, anyway... Vyne had thrust his hand into the banshee’s chest and proceeded to rip out her heart.

The woman shook violently and started screeching even louder as she started to bleed profusely from the gaping hole where her heart used to beat.

She was still alive, in intense pain, though. Just tearing out her heart would not kill her, though. Banshees had the capability to regrow any part of their body that was damaged or removed.

But, for some reason, if you froze said part of the body it would not regrow.

Meaning, you could just as easily remove her brain and freeze it, but that was far more troublesome to remove than a heart.

The banshee attempted to stop the bleeding, clutching a claw-like hand over the wound. She was sobbing and screaming, quite the Drama Queen.

Relax! It’s just a heart.

Vyne lifted the still-beating heart with relish and presented it to his lord. Slowly, ice began to encase it, and the banshee’s shrieks grew lesser and lesser in volume.

Her body shook once more, and then ceased all movement the second her heart had been completely frozen for a few moments.

The cave began to rumble violently, chunks of rock fell from the ceiling and into the pool of water and the area surrounding it.

A large groan could be heard before everything disappeared in a blinding flash of light.

The sound similar to that of rushing water could be heard in the whiteness as their bodies were yanked someplace else.

Five bodies materialized in a familiar grassland, all of the mist had disappeared and it was now very obvious which direction they should head in.

The quintet stood up and walked away as if they had not just murdered a lonely banshee. They were headed towards the mountain range that could be seen not too far off in the distance.

Mmm... what a pleasant atmosphere. The Lower Continent sure was a lovely place. Ignoring all the monsters that would like nothing more than to kill you, of course.

The sun was warm but not too warm. The wind was strong but not too strong, just enough to cool you down. The ground was firm but not to the point of making their feet ache.

They were a magnificent sight that blended in with the surroundings! That is, ignoring the frozen heart one of them held in his right hand.

Yes, no banshees were harmed in the past five minutes...

Anyway! Erebus and his crew headed towards the town that dwelled in the mountains and contained the entrance to [Hungry Bear Caverns]. The town was named Rocky Village.

Yes... it was named Rocky Village.

Rocky Village was known for its abundance of mines and nearby dungeons. The [Hungry Bear Caverns] was a Demon ranked dungeon. But it could be explored easily with a medium-sized party, and since it had been completed, there were many in-depth maps available on it.

Also, all of the monsters were Terror rank or lower with a few Epic ranked. The dungeon was only labeled Demon due to the sheer amount of enemies that appeared at a time to attack. There was a seemingly endless flow of monsters in that place!

As of now, no one had been able to completely exterminate all the monsters lurking within the caverns.

Upon hearing this after their information gathering, Erebus decided that they would be the first to do such a thing!

Surely, it would take them weeks.

And then another couple of days to get back to Yvick’s castle... then bam! The unnamed dungeon would be open once again!

Erebus could not help but chuckle to himself at his glorious plan. There would be not a dull moment!

Of course, that was assuming everything would go as planned and nothing would be boring.

“Another hour or so and we should arrive at Rocky Village,” Vyne spoke in the silence that had settled over them.

“We could easily cut that down to minutes,” Erebus said almost instantly. Without bothering to ask if they were ready, he started to run.

Everyone’s face paled.

They had to sprint as hard as they could to keep up, his subordinates managed to close the distance that had appeared within a matter of seconds, but Weryn was still lagging behind.

“Wait! Wait!” the child called, starting to pump his little legs harder. It was no use, though. He was too slow.

It wasn’t as if the gap between them was extremely large, it was only a few meters or so.

But still! So many things could go wrong within that tiny amount of space. Oh, yet another terrible situation he was put in...

The space between him and the others continued to grow.

“No, seriously, wait, wait!” Weryn stretched out his arm in desperation, his blue eyes filled with fear of being left behind.

Suddenly, the ground disappeared beneath his feet and his body was dangling in the air.

Erebus to the rescue!

The elder dragon had tucked Weryn underneath his left arm.

Memories of him flying on Erebus’ back a couple of months back caused tears to start welling up in Weryn’s eyes.

Not this torture again!

He squeezed his eyes shut, the way the scenery whipped passed his eyes made him feel sick and terrible recollections rose to the surface of his mind.

“Open your eyes, Weryn. We’re here,” Erebus’ disembodied voice said and Weryn opened his eyes slowly.

The young dragon dropped to the ground. “Ugh...”

They were currently standing on the outsides of the town, they had climbed up a small hill before arriving at the valley that the village resided in.

“I feel sick,” Weryn admitted.

No one batted an eyelash.

Completely ignored!

Weryn made a pitiful sound and stood up slowly feeling defeated.

They could care less about his emotions, the only thing they were truly worried about was the safety of his body.

If Weryn got hurt, Erebus would kill whoever was responsible. And after that, Ayirn would undoubtedly come for him!

They were protecting him to protect themselves...

The quintet entered the small yet bustling village. There were plenty of people inside of the lackluster place, mostly due to the aforementioned dungeons and mines.

It was seen as a great training place for fighters and an excellent post for the merchants.

Erebus and co. asked a passerby for the classiest inn and he pointed to an extravagant place that did not fit in at all with its surroundings!

It was a giant among the midgets.

“Somehow, that place looks untrustworthy,” Tear said as they walked towards it.

Everything else was modestly built with wood and there were a couple stone and wood buildings, but nothing like this!

The inn, by the name of Golden Dream, was made completely out of stone with golden accenting. The double-frame door looked sturdy and would fit in at a castle, not some inn in a village in the middle of the mountains.

“Eh, doesn’t really matter,” Erebus instantly responded. Like the schemes of humans bothered him! As long as it didn’t annoy him too much, he didn’t care what they did.

With that in mind, the quintet entered the inn only to be met by a surprise.
