Wow, we're already at chapter 26? Time sure does fly by. Your excitement for reading the chapters I produce really keeps me motivated to keep writing. Thanks for your support! It brings a smile to this old(?) ladies face.

Laufeia let out another screech and began to throw javelins made out of mana at Azure.

Azure shook her head and deflected the attacks. “Sloppy. You’re getting sloppy, Laufeia.”

Laufeia held out her staff and a tiger-like creature made out of mana flew towards Azure. Its jaws clamped around her small waist before it flung her into the gardens.

“Ouch.” Azure stood up and dusted the dirt off of her tunic. “That one hurt, Laufeia.”

“Ugh.” Laufeia began to shoot off bolts in rapid succession with one hand as she prepped another attack in her other.

A beam of green light slammed into Azure. The brightness of the light caused Erebus to shield his eyes, but Laufeia kept her eyes peeled.

The light faded, revealing Azure who was pretend yawning. She had reinforced her body with mana this time.

She wouldn’t be fooled twice.

“Boring~ that was nothing compared to what you first hit me with. Come on now, Laufeia.”

“What the hell are you made out of?” Laufeia screamed.

This was insane.

For her magic, which came only second to the dragons, to do no damage at all. She was one of the best magicians in the entire world.

Wait, dragons?

“Are you a dragon?” Laufeia asked, fear entering her body.A regular dragon would’ve been killed by now, which meant she must be. “One of the originals...” She began to back away. It was starting to make sense.

For her magic to do so little damage. If her opponent was one of the original dragons then she had absolutely no chance of winning.

Certain death.

Azure smirked. She spoke in the draconic language, “Took the fool long enough.” She created ten more blades of water. This time, the child would die.

Laufeia began to shake her head. “I surrender, I surrender! Okay? I surrender!”

She didn’t want to die.

She still had so much to live for.

Azure shook her head. “Sorry, my dear, but you’re one of the examples.” She switched back to the mix of the dragon and common language.

“Example?” Laufeia didn’t like the sound of that.

Azure made a face. She didn’t see the need to tell the woman, but she answered anyway, “Of our power.”

“Please, spare me, mighty dragon,” Laufeia begged, she fell to her knees on the ground. “I will spread the word of your power to my people. I will make sure they never challenge you again. That’s what you wanted, correct?”

“Oh?” Azure was listening now.

“Yes. I will do it myself.” Laufeia’s forehead was touching the ground, she was groveling.

“Is that okay, Erebus?” Azure asked, turning towards him. “If we do it that way.”

“It’s fine,” he responded. Their job was to show the gap between dragons and everyone else, a gap that would never disappear. “It’s too late for her army, though. Massath has dealt with them.”

During Laufeia and Azure’s battle, flashes of lightning could be seen in the distance. He had eradicated the army, as Erebus told him to do.

Laufeia made a strangled sound. “I have failed my people. I will live in shame, but I will still be alive.” She had overestimated her power, she thought that she would be enough to deal with these three. She hadn’t accounted for one being able to destroy her entire army. How many lives were lost?

“Shame?” Azure smirked. “That gives me an idea.” She walked over towards Laufeia.

“What! Are you going to kill me?” Laufeia lurched backwards, her feet kicking up dirt as she moved.

“No, relax.” Azure bent down next to the Queen.

With brute force, she snapped off one of Laufeia’s horns.

Laufeia screamed in pain. “Why?” she whimpered, touching the jagged stump where her horn used to be.

“Uh, if I remember correctly, in demon tradition, horns are very important, right? A symbol of pride.”

The Demon Queen nodded.

“Then that’s why!” She twirled the horn around before throwing it up in the area and slicing it with her water blades.

The Queen made another strangled sound as she watched the pieces fall to the ground.

“I’m ready to leave,” Azure said to Erebus as if she hadn’t destroyed the Queen’s pride.

“I’ll tell Massath.”

Massath, go deal with the dwarves and beastmen. Azure and I will be heading to the Pure Continent, then we’ll deal with the seafolk.

What? I have to go by myself?

You’ll be fine~

Wait a mi--

Erebus ended the telepathic communication.

“Massath said that he will head back to the Main Continent and deal with the dwarves and beastmen,” Erebus told Azure.

“So... we’ll be handling the seafolk and the angels?”

“Yeah, Massath’s magic is definitely going to backfire when we’re in the water. I don’t want to be shocked.”

“Ah... true,” Azure nodded her understanding. “Hey, one-horned demon, where’s a very, very large clearing?”

“A c-clearing?” Laufeia asked.

“Yes, a c-clearing,” Azure mocked her stutter.

Laufeia scrunched her face up in thought. “A couple miles north. I believe there’s a large clearing there.”

Erebus and Azure nodded then disappeared in the blink of an eye. The two bolted through the woods.

Laufeia let out a sigh of relief. They scared her, especially the one named Erebus. The entire time Azure had been fighting her, that one’s face remained blank.

And the aura he had...

She was too focused on battling Azure before, but she was able to sense his power afterwards.

He would’ve crushed her. He was completely unlike Azure.

She could tell that much from his aura.

I am truly fortunate he hadn’t been the one I fought, she thought as two dragons flew past her overhead.

They were flying low enough that their speed created a strong gust.

Azure and Erebus headed towards the Pure Continent. They wondered if the leader there would give in just like Laufeia had.

The dragons didn’t really care whether the ones they fought lived or not. They just wanted them to understand the draconic superiority.

They could care less about anything else.

If the people came to understand the difference between the dragons and the rest, then they wouldn’t dare step out of their boundaries. They would keep their wars to themselves.

And they wouldn’t dare jeapordize this world ever again.

If they did, well, the dragons would step in once again.

Erebus laughed a little.

“What is it?” Azure asked.

“Don’t you think this is fun? We’ve never been able to use our power, ever. It’s interesting to see how powerful we are.”

“Eh... I suppose it is.” Azure had thought of this before, it was rather intriguing.

“Rolut and the others are missing out, they should have came, too.” Deep down, Erebus didn’t want them to come, seeing as they’d take away some of the enemies he’d get to fight.

“Well, they have to keep watch over our continent, still.”

“Haha... what a boring job.”

Azure agreed. The prospect of sitting at home waiting was not appealing to her in the slightest. She was glad Rolut had chosen her to go. And she was glad that Erebus was the one in charge of them.

If it had been any of the other stiffs, she wouldn’t be enjoying herself this much.

“Sadly, it’ll be ending soon,” she said after a while. They were passing over the passageway that would connect to a continent that would become known as the Lower Continent. Currently, no races lived there. It was all of the monsters.

Erebus’ dancing eyes sombered. “What a mood-killer you are, Azure.”

She laughed silently and shook her head. “Sorry, sorry.”
