《The Demon Lord is Bored》Chapter One: A Decision

Hello! Um, thank you for reading. As I said in the description, I'm not really trying to be comedic so if you see any comedy please know that it's not really intentional? I'm not really sure how to say it. It will start off as light-hearted for the first 3-4 chapters because it hasn't picked up yet... Anyway, I don't plan on hiding anything on my main character Erebus. It will be explained in a few chapters. Also, I'm new to this site so please be gentle with me. I hope you enjoy!

The Demon Lord Erebus sat on his throne. His eyes were closed as he was taking another nap. He frequently took naps, he rather enjoyed the blissfulness of being unconscious. When he slept, it would bring him back to the old days when he was young.

His nap was short lived, however, when a white-haired woman entered the room. She was beautiful, simply put. Her white hair cascaded down to her hips and shimmered like diamonds, her eyes were like two sapphires that shone brightly. She was too pure for a place like this. An old, dark, and dreary castle.

Her pale shoulders were exposed as the flowy light green gown, the translucent material did nothing to hide her womanly (flat-chested) figure underneath. Which was strange, seeing as the castle was dreadfully cold. The elegant curve of her neck was revealed which lead up to her doll-like face with her big eyes and seashell pink lips. The gorgeous woman’s name was Tear of the Moon Goddess, in short, Tear.

As if to symbolize her name, a blue tear drop was painted on her smooth cheek.

“My Lord,” she said, dropping into a deep curtsy. When she bowed her head, her cascading hair seemed to glitter even more. Also, a rather adorable blush had started to color her face.

Erebus opened one lazy eye. “Ah, it’s Tear.”

“If I may have a word?” Her beautiful voice resounded throughout the room. Erebus responded with a noncommittal noise. “Thank you, my Lord.”

“I didn’t really say yes...”

Tear continued on anyway, “We have received word that the humans want a truce. After you killed the raid lead by Grego Drand, they seem to have given up all hope on subjugating you.”

“Is that a good thing? I think that’s a good thing. Not that I really care, do what you see fit.”

“If you give me that much freedom, I’ll go wild.”

“Isn’t it more fun that way?” Erebus laughed upon seeing the evil look that began to spread across her face. “That was a joke. Don’t go wild, you get scary.”

“Understood.”

“What do the others want to do?”

“They wish to accept it. After all, humans are annoying. It’s annoying having to continuously kill them. No fun at all.”

“I see.” Erebus placed his chin in his hand, a thoughtful look crossing his handsome face.

“What do you wish for?”

“Huh? Isn’t it easier to just accept? Like the others said, having to kill them is seriously annoying. They’re all weak.”

“Your power is overwhelming,” Tear couldn’t help but amend his words. The humans weren’t weak, her master was just too powerful for mortals to ever reach. He had lived since the planet’s beginning which was at least ten thousand years ago. The amount of power he had amassed in that time was enough to obliterate the entire planet.

“True, maybe I should create someone capable of defeating me.” Of course, Erebus was not the strongest entity on this planet but, he was certainly among the top five. Creating someone capable of defeating him would be...

“Impossible. It would take thousands of years to make a being like that, and you would have grown even stronger in that time.”

Erebus closed his eyes. What a solitary existence he lived, he didn’t have any friends. Though he had Tear and the others, they were not friends. They were subordinates. Subordinates who listened to his every word with no complaints, subordinates who he always had to seem all mighty in front of.

“Ah... I should make some friends.”

“Friends? I am your friend.”

“We both know that’s a lie.”

“I love Master,” Tear argued indignantly. She had been with him for five hundred years, her fear had faded and morphed into a (twisted) love for him. To get it out there now, Tear was an extreme masochist for her master. It would please her greatly if were to step on her back and call her a filthy mongrel. The clan Tear hailed from all had those tendencies, actually...

Ah, how wonderful, thought Tear as she imagined such a thing.

“What’s with that creepy expression...”

Tear was making the face a lovely woman should never make. It was truly perverted.

“But thanks, I guess. I’m not really sure if I want to be loved by you, though.”

“Is that so? Please, punish me then for having such indecent feelings!”

This is exactly why he didn’t want to be loved by her. Erebus was definitely not a sexual sadist.

“Dismissed.”

Tear’s face had morphed into something truly disgusting.

“U-understood!” The masochist scuttled out of the room.

Watching this, Erebus decided that he should make friends. All of his subordinates were... creepy. They had become an unwanted harem. All with strange obsessions pointed at him. Though some masked it better than others.

There was Tear’s partner-in-crime, Stone. He always wanted to dress Erebus up in cutesy clothing then ‘eat him up’.

The only normal(?) one would be Lilian. A pink-haired, pink-eyed, bunny-eared woman who adopted the personality of a pragmatic (kuudere) woman. That being said, Erebus had walked in on her hugging (and doing other things) dolls that looked like him.

Erebus shivered at the thought. They were no good. Loyal but no good.

With these thoughts in mind, Erebus stood up. He would make friends with someone. Preferably normal. Or at least cure his boredom.

Erebus left the room, the cape he wore swished menacingly behind him. Erebus, sadly, did not look menacing at all (even though he thought he did).

“Lord Erebus,” a deep resounding voice said. “Where are you headed?” Erebus turned his head to see something that looked like it should be the Demon Lord.

Its skin was dark blue and it stood nearly three meters tall with leathery wings folded on its back. Two thick, crooked horns sprouted from its bald head; on the face there were six eyes, three on each side with black sclera and amethyst pupils. It had a thick, flat nose and large lips.

Its huge figure was completed by bulging muscles and a greatsword on its hips. This creature’s name was Magnus. Stone’s elder brother. Even though they’re referred to as a male, the ‘brothers’ were sexless. They lacked any type of reproductive organs.

“I’m bored.”

“Bored!” roared Magnus, the entire castle shook. “This... this is terrible,” Magnus dropped down to his knees, “for our Lord to experience such a thing. Tragic! Truly tragic! I will provide my sword a sheathe inside of my body if that shall entertain our Lord! ”

Erebus made a complicated expression at this. “This is weird. Definitely weird. Actually, stop doing that.”

What did I do to deserve these strange beings? Did I mess up in a past life? Is this Divine Retribution?

These kind of thoughts ran through Erebus’ mind.

Magnus leapt to his feet. “Shall I gather some humans for you to slaughter, then?”

“No. I’m going out for a bit. Maybe a couple decades.”

Magnus’ brows drew together. “For what reason?”

“Because I’m bored.”

“I see! Let me accompany you!”

No way. That’d defeat the purpose of my leaving.

Those were his unvoiced thoughts.

“It’s fine.”

“I must gather the others and tell them!” With that, Magnus disappeared quickly.

“I told the wrong person. Didn’t I?” Erebus looked sadly off into the distance. He headed back to the throne room, as it would now become a long and drawn out process. He knew instantly that he would have to take at least two of them, that way they wouldn’t complain.

Within moments, they arrived.

Magnus, he controlled the defense of the outer castle. If they managed to get past the traps set outside his brother Stone, would deal with it.

Vyne, a handsome humanoid demon. He, due to his sadistic streak, was in charge of getting (torturing) information out of prisoners.

Tear, the Overseer. She would bring all the information Lilian and Vyne gathered to Erebus. She was essentially the middle-man. This was mostly because Lilian talked too much in her explanations and Vyne went into too much detail.

Lilian, she would handle anything and everything political. Surprisingly, the Demon Lords of the world had to deal with a lot of issues. Like land disputes, there were a lot of those. She would only pass major issues over to Tear to deliver to Erebus.

“My Lord,” Vyne began, dropping to his knees. “We received word from Magnus that you wished to leave.”

“I’m bored.”

Magnus let out a pained sound.

“Shall I accompany you, My Lord? I, unlike the others, have reached a stagnant in my job.” Vyne volunteered himself to come. Erebus didn’t have any particular issue with Vyne coming, seeing as he was the only one who knew how to control himself.

“Nonsense! I shall come!” Tear instantly intervened.

“But you are the Second-In-Command,” Lilian said coldly. “If Lord Erebus leaves, then you are who we report to.” She pushed up her glasses. “Vyne is the best choice.”

“No way!” wailed Stone. “He’ll get to have love-love moments with Lord Erebus.”

“There isn’t a chance.” Vyne gave Stone a harsh glare. “I am unworthy of such a thing.”

Erebus made another complicated expression. So gender wasn’t the issue? Meaning, if he was worthy, he’d go all out?

“You are all troubling Lord Erebus.” Lilian seemed to be the only one to notice how uncomfortable Erebus was growing.

“Lord Erebus! Let me come instead!” Tear ran up and grasped his hand. “Put Lilian in-charge.”

“I see... that could work. Seeing as you are already unsuited for the position.”

“Who’s unsuited?” Tear turned, her eyes glowing with anger directed at Lilian.

“Lord Erebus, take Tear and me.” Vyne nodded, stopping the two before they fought. “Lilian can handle it very well without Tear.”

“But! I want to come instead!” Stone whined.

“You’re unsuited,” Lilian hissed.

Erebus pressed his fingers against his temples as their arguing continued. “You’re all being annoying.”

A silence fell. They had angered him slightly.

“I’ll take Vyne and Tear. Lilian, you will be in-charge of the affairs. Seeing as we will establish a peace treaty with the humans, we should not have to worry about any raids. If they do come, you three are more than enough.

“Lilian, seeing as you’re a necromancer, you may use the corpses of the most recent raid if you think you will lack manpower.”

“Understood.”

“I’ll be giving you this communication stone. With it, you’ll be able to reach us no matter how far away we are. If there is an emergency, use it.”

Lilian nodded, accepting the small opal stone from Erebus.

“Then, we’ll be heading out. I don’t know how long we’ll be gone. No more than a decade or two, though.”

Lilian allowed a small smile to spread on her beautiful face. “Understood, My Lord.”

“Let’s go.” Erebus signalled for Vyne and Tear to follow him. Erebus let out a sigh, this was not at all what he wanted.

How troublesome.
