《Kenosis of the Light Bearer》Chapter 46 - Run down shack

The skyboard flew across the grounds and into one of the residential areas. He could see the vast fields and areas with giant mansions at the center, some even had giant marble castles. Beautiful gardens, natural water features like waterfalls, rivers and small lakes. Free range animals that roamed the lands and more. It was a true paradise in comparison to the scorched wasteland he had just come from.

‘Are one of these my house?’ He was visibly excited. This could be called the epitome of wealth. The view itself was a natural stress relief but against his expectations the skyboard didn’t stop there and continued on towards another district. As he drew near the terrain changed and he found himself in a small city. They had modern high-rise apartments with pools and bars. There were people zooming around through the air on skyboards, sky skateboards, sky cars and sky buses.

But his skyboard continued to fly passed the skyscrapers. He was now in a housing district, 3 bed rooms with small yards and other various things. It wasn’t as nice as the city but it wasn’t bad, he could settle down here. But it more of a family home compared to the fast paced life of living in the city.

But to his shock and dismay he continued to fly by until finally he found himself in a rundown suburban area. There was no grass, only dirt and dried weeds. The sight was quite appalling and it seemed like a ghost town.

There were over 1000 small shacks. He climbed off the skyboard and walked around the area. There was no irrigation, no running water, no clean toilets only long drops and no sky stations. That means that once his skyboard left he would have to walk back. When he realized this he quickly turned around but it was too late. The skyboard had already silently left and flew back.

“….What is this bullshit. I don’t believe it.” His mouth agape as he watched it fly into the distance.

“Tsk, well then. I better make myself comfortable.” He wasn’t the type of person to gloat on misfortune and he quickly got over it.

He walked towards his house numbered 666 and looked inside. The wood was rotting and almost falling down, in fact it was worse than his house of Planet Almega. How could houses like this even exist on a paradise such as this? He felt ripped off and cheated but what could he do. He understood now that being a low ranking citizen would earn you this sort of treatment. This area had probably existed since the creation of Enochian Academia but because it’s a high tier genius school this area had never been used in its entire history.

He browsed the house and it was in shambles. Dust was everywhere and there were no signs of life anywhere. Not even rats, bugs or birds flew across this area.

He tried lying on the floor to see how comfortable it would be to sleep but it was hard and uncomfortable. “I can’t do it. I can’t sleep like this.”

He walked outside and pulled a few rocks from the hard ground. After that he grabbed them and smashed them together, finally after a few smacks a piece split off. It was sharp while the other piece was jagged, ‘I can use this.’ He thought to himself.

He walked 2 kilometers to a patch of flax he saw in the distance. Once he was there he used the sharp rock to slice the flax then stripped it of its fibers. He walked another kilometer to a thin dried up tree then began to hit it.

Despite it being dead and dry it was incredibly resilient. It took him the better half of an hour to chop it down using the jagged rock.

Using the fibers he tied the jagged rock to the stick he had just cut. The rock was incredibly heavy, a large portion of it was probably full of Iron. But the stick was equally strong, a tree as hard as iron. That was something new to Lucif or at least he had never heard about it before.

Using this newly made axe he headed out to cut more trees and find some shrubs. Calling it an axe was definitely a stretch. The design itself was incredibly crude and would function better as a mallet but he didn’t care, he was going to use it as an axe.

He walked another 10 or so kilometers. The distance he covered was quite shocking. He didn’t realize how far the skyboard had taken him. When you are flying in the sky, everything below looks quite small and it doesn’t feel like you are moving very fast but in reality it was the complete opposite.

Even though he had journeyed more than 12 kilometers there was no town or city in sight. From ground level the horizon was 5 kilometers so he made an attempt to climb the tallest tree he could find. Once he reached the top he was shocked to see that there was still no city or town in sight. The tree was around 100 ft high giving him a view of the surrounding 20 kilometers in every direction.

“Damn, they dropped me in the middle of nowhere.”

He journeyed around some more as he collected up fiber and shrub to make a bed. He also bound sticks to make a base. Many of the plants and trees he was unfamiliar with but he felt their texture to see if it would be comfortable or not. He stuffed them into his bag but it quickly became full because half the room was occupied by the VR headset.

After another hour passed his eyes instantly lit up when he saw a field of white flowers. “Cotton plants!”

The field of cotton plants would provide a good amount of comfort. He couldn’t spin the cotton into thread or something similar but he could bind them together using banana leaves and fiber. Filling the interior with cotton would make it many times more comfortable.

He got to work and started harvesting the cotton that he stuffed into a bag he made from banana leaves. Although the bag wasn’t very strong, it was alright because cotton was very light.

By now it was getting quite dark, he could attempt to make his way home but in his journey he had unwittingly gotten lost. ‘I can see the surroundings if I climb this tree first and then navigate my way home.’

Once he got to the top he slapped himself in the face, he wasn’t living in a normal village. It was abandoned and because it was dark it was impossible to find it because there were no lights in the village.

‘Plan B.’

He ventured forth into a cave he spotted not so long ago. “Okay, I guess I’ll spend the night in here.”

The cave wasn’t very big, you had to squeeze down to get in but it wasn’t impossible to enter. He was very parched and inside he could hear the sweet sound of running water. He was hoping that it was fresh and clean, not polluted water or salt water otherwise he would have to go without.

It was quite dark inside and besides the sounds of running water he could also hear the sounds of buzzing bees. ‘That doesn’t sound good.’
