《Kenosis of the Light Bearer》Chapter 9 - Aruna's Emotions

When they arrived home Aruna was still in shock. “I don’t want to live here anymore.” She cried into his chest, this was only the second time he had seen his sister express her real emotions. She always put on a tough face but now she was broken in body and beaten in spirit.
“I made a lot of money today, we can move.” He quietly mentioned.
She cried some more and couldn’t stop the tears that flowed like raindrops. “No, I don’t want to live anywhere anymore. I want to….I want to…die.”
Her teeth were clattering now, it wasn’t cold tonight but she was still shivering. It was because she had been terrorized and she couldn’t shake her own fear off. These were the words she had held in her entire life. This life wasn’t a life worth living. The only reason she woke up every morning was to look after her brother and mother. Her father was dead, her mother was basically sentenced to death and they were living in such dire straits.
Despite the sudden increase in food, it didn’t help absolve them of their poverty. It was just a never ending cycle of slaving away just to survive. Lucif didn’t know how to respond, until he remembered his sister’s words.
“Remember what you told me? We have to push on and struggle because right now there are no solutions. We just have to wait until we find an opportunity to pursue a better future for ourselves. Otherwise mum and dad would’ve given their lives for nothing. Sis, don’t let this get you down. I will help you pursue revenge, not just for you and for me, not just for mum and for dad but for every person wronged by the UCA. It’s time we started taking action into our own hands.”

His eyes glanced over to the left and looked at the 3 guns they took from the guards and their battle suits. With this they could disguise themselves and take them down from the inside out. Aruna forcefully stopped herself from shivering and sucked up her emotions. Lucif couldn’t help but admire her tenacity and strength; even he had to admit that she was mentally stronger than him. ‘How can a young girl be so strong?’
He bit his finger as he thought about the matter some more, ‘Why was she down an alleyway off the main path and walking around at this late hour?’
He couldn’t help but gasp as a slurry of guilt washed over him, ‘I worked a few hours overtime, and she must have come looking for me.’
Indeed, it was his fault that she had left the house in the first place. If it wasn’t for him getting carried away by his work she wouldn’t have left home and came searching for him. She wouldn’t have been violated in such a way if he just returned home on time. But he knew there was no point lamenting on this fact because it wouldn’t help the situation.
‘Only death can resolve this feud, only blood can be paid in offering. Committing sins against my family is no different than an act against God. You want a war? I’ll give you a war.’
That night he slept by his sister and held her shivering body, although she was sleeping she would claw his arms and cry silently. The image of those men attacking her had been permanently etched into her mind. It was now a scar on her heart that might never heal.
The dawn came and he went to work, his goal now was to mine as much gold as possible. He needed money, he needed weapons, he needed sustenance and he needed revenge. His blood thirsty nature was almost impossible to hide now.

Aruna was unusually happy this morning; she was trying her best to hide her emotions.
Buck was once an army general that had seen his fair share of death and killing on the battlefield but even he felt shivers down his spine when he looked into Lucifer’s eyes. Lately he was mining like a mad man like he was overcome with madness and ferocity.
Lucif knocked off an hour early. From now on he was going to walk Aruna home from work every day. She worked 8 to 8 and he worked 9 to 9 so he was going to change his hours to match hers. He’s sure the boss wouldn’t mind but today he was just going to leave early and arrange it all tomorrow.
As Lucif made his way to the mineshaft station the old man Buckaroo pulled him aside and said to him, “Something has changed recently. Do you want to talk about it kid?”
“Sorry old man, but there’s nothing you can do. I just need money now so I’m focusing on that.”
“How much do you need kid?” Bucks eyes were filled with kindness and warmth contrary to the fearsome aura he usually radiated. His intuition was telling him that Lucifer’s current mental state was in turmoil no matter how hard he tried to hide it.
Lucif quickly shook his head and waved his hands, “Thanks for the offer old man but you need that money for your daughters. We both have our own paths and this is one I must pave for myself.”
Buck frowned, “Alright kid, it looks like you’ve made your mind up but just remember before you do anything stupid. I’m always here to lend you a hand. By the way how many trailers did you manage to turn in today?”
“Hmm, around 8. I’m sure I can pull the number up to 9 by the end of the week.”
The old man’s eyes seemed to double in size as he looked at Lucif strangely, “You aren’t pulling my leg are ya kid?”
“I’m not in a mood to joke.”
Buck slapped his thigh and started laughing, “Haha, ya damn brat. That’s a trailer every 80 minutes. You know it’s impossible for a human brat to do that? That means you are a superhuman brat. I thought it was strange when your muscles and appetite were growing rapidly over the last few months.”
Lucif quickly shook his head, his muscles did seem to grow faster than he expected but he was once an Olympic gold athlete in the past, he attributed the growth to his training regime. “Impossible, how can I be a super human? My mother was a normal human.”
Buck cleared his throat and thought for a second, “What about your father? It only takes one to pass on the genes.”
Lucif was just about to speak when those words caught his tongue, he didn’t know anything about his father. The only thing he knew was that his father had been killed in the war. It was completely possible for him to be a super human.
