《The Most Powerful Ant in the Universe》Chapter Seventy-Nine: Bubbles' Dilemma

Bubbles was not a complex creature.

He consisted of a lovably squishy, adorably bouncy slimey outside and a mildly scary, somewhat intimidating black hole inside. The round, pale eyes on his surface completed the picture, indicating a creature that was both powerful and cute, and with both in spades.

Looking to his rocky companion, he burbled curiously. This pet was much newer, but Mr. Black Holes had given it to Mommy, so it was probably very nice. Approximating four and a half feet long, the rock dragon was built from jagged stones, short, craggy limbs extending from its sides to plant themselves firmly on the ground. With a small, diamond-shaped head and tiny black eyes, it was less cute and more concerning.

The dragon was currently underneath Bubbles, the slime riding him as they wandered around Xylphys uncertainly. Turning around to look at Bubbles, the dragon queried, "Rarr?"

Bubbles blew a wet raspberry in response. That was a stupid question, of course Mommy hadn't forgotten them! The dragon shrugged, sending ripples through the Void slime, and growled quietly.

In all seriousness, Bubbles was beginning to get slightly worried. Mommy had become very strange last night, telling them about eating everything and trying to take a bite of the dragon. Bubbles hadn't known exactly what Mommy had been trying to do, but he was sure that it involved something very serious and important.

His very serious and very important train of thought was broken by someone jumping in front of them. Bubbles appraised the hooman with an immense amount of unconcern and a minute amount of curiosity. Dressed in raggedy clothes and holding a shiny stick, the hooman said something to them.

Bubbles burbled happily. He didn't have a clue what hooman language meant, only that it was very confusing and that Mommy could use it with some amount of proficiency. As a result, he directly assumed that most hoomans were very friendly, at least until they weren't.

As was previously mentioned, Bubbles was not especially complex.

The hooman pointed at them, and more hoomans showed up. The rock dragon growled nervously, looking around, and Bubbles poofed himself up into his taut rolly form. The hoomans were scaring his pet! This was unforgivable!

One of the hoomans lunged forward with a shiny bit attached to a long poky bit and tried to poke Bubbles with the poker. The point distorted his surface for a moment before penetrating him. The tip touched his storage space and well, that was that. No more poker.

The offending hooman jumped back, yelling, and the other ill-dressed hoomans leveled their sticks and pokers at Bubbles and the dragon.

Bubbles sighed. Diplomacy couldn't always work, and eating was a perfectly reasonable alternative.

"Phhhffffbbbt." He told the rock dragon confidently, and hopped off of its back. The rock dragon shook itself, spikes raising to higher heights, and responded amiably, "Rarr?"

Bubbles bubbled with annoyance. No, they couldn't be friends! They were doing pokes!

He hurled himself at one of the hoomans, breaking his face, and molded his body around the hooman's head. Absorbing most of it with his storage, he sent slimey bits into the hooman's fleshy bits, and the body he was now using began swinging his shiny stick ineffectively.

Okay, so while he could control hoomans, he wasn't very good at it.

Oh well, practice makes perfect.

The rock dragon hopped into the air before curling itself up and biting its tail. A moment later, it was rolling around causing chaos and crashing through walls and crushing hoomans and such. Bubbles was not especially concerned with what rock dragons chose to do in their spare time, but resolved to tell Mommy about it later.

It only took a few moments to beat the hoomans into submission, although they weren't moving very much. At all, actually. The rock dragon was still having fun breaking things, knocking down houses and people while dizzily roaring. Bubbles frowned. What did it mean, it couldn't stop? Wasn't it doing all of that on purpose? He burbled an annoyed response.

"Rar-ar-ar!"

Bubbles rolled his eyes around his body. Well, nothing left to do except this.

Throwing himself into the path of the rock dragon, he moved his storage to a not-exist place and braced. As he was swept up in the dragon's rampage, he gummed its movements up until it couldn't roll any more, and stuck both of them to the ground.

Satisfied and completely ignoring the smoke and fires and screaming and whatnot, Bubbles began to reprimand the rock dragon.
