《The Most Powerful Ant in the Universe》Chapter Twenty-One: Absorption
Advertisement
I stumbled into my home and collapsed, legs splaying outward.
[All right. Maybe I should take a break.]
[Can you even stand up?]
No. No, I can't. I've been hunting for almost two weeks straight, and I haven't seen any more of those boars. I have, however, been snacking on just about anything that moves.
[How are the reserves filling?]
[Filling? They're not going to be full until you eat a planet or something, but in terms of energy? We've got more than ever.]
[Great. Just pour it into whatever you think is best, I don't have the energy to think right now.]
[...Well, there is something you might be interested in.]
[What is it?]
[I finished analyzing that boar you ate a while back, and I think I can synthesize the ability it used and apply it to you.]
It's taken some time, but I'm finally figuring out Joule's technical manner of talking.
[Are you sure? I thought that I could only use the void.]
[So did I, but it turns out that you absorb a substance called 'mana' whenever you use a void ability, and we've been stockpiling quite a bit of it.]
[Isn't void the most powerful?]
[No. Noah's void is the most powerful. At our level, we'll have to learn some other types of elements to get really strong.]
I'm slowly realizing just how overpowered Noah is compared to me, and my mandibles droop slightly.
[Cheer up! I don't think even Noah can use magic, so you've got that over him.]
I'm temporarily stunned.
[What do you mean he can't use magic? What was all that stuff he was doing with the trees?]
[That's just Noah's intrinsic abilities, and they're a billion times more powerful than with what he did to the trees. I can't really quantify his rank, but I can guarantee that Noah can't use magic. He absorbs and compresses mana at an absurd rate, yes, but it's squeezed to the point that he can't use it.]

[...So technically speaking, if I were to battle Noah with magic, I'd win?]
She laughs for way too long.
[Of course not. He could squish the whole planet to a pebble, why would he be scared of losing any fight?]
Eh. I'll take what I can get.
[What's the ability called, and how do I use it?]
[I was thinking of calling it Frost Bite. To use it, just focus on cooling your mandibles down.]
[Okay...]
I spread my mandibles apart and will them to get colder.
As I see frost spreading over my mandibles, I gain a dim sensation of a ball of energy, quite dissimilar from the cold void, floating inside me.
[Is this mana?]
[Yup! I even converted a tiny amount of your overall Void into a mana containment! It should be plenty stable for as long as you need it.]
The frost disappears as I contemplate the new information.
[This could be really helpful!]
[It really will be! What I don't get is this 'system' stuff. It turns out there's a system designed to do basically the same thing I do, but for every monster and human on the planet. Don't worry - I do a far better job than it does. I just don't know why it doesn't apply to you.]
[Hmmm... maybe because I didn't start out as a monster?]
[No, that shouldn't be the case. Animals converting into monsters happen all the time when they come into contact with too much mana, so you should be covered.]
[...Maybe you talk louder than it does?]
[That's a pretty good guess, actually. Unfortunately, we won't know for sure until either the universe tells us, or Noah shows up and we can ask him.]
[What does he even do in his spare time?]
[I have no idea.]

Small Chests Are Fine Too
It is an undeniable fact that good things come in small packages. More often than not, it is necessary to trim the fat in order to bring what really matters to the forefront. Having extra bulk may seem like a good idea, but in reality it is merely a crutch that will one day become a hindrance, as it is no substitute for personality nor ability. Indeed, often times it is the small things in life that brighten up our daily lives and constantly remind us exactly why we do the things we do. However, it is important to keep an open mind, for while bigger is not always better, there are also times when it is. This holds especially true when it comes to hopes and dreams, which have been known to require a suitably large container from time to time. And while dreaming big could potentially lead to massive dissapointment, one will never truly reach fulfilment if they think too small. A truth that one small woman with meager aspirations is about to find out. DISCLAIMER: This is a spin-off/side story of my main series, Everybody Loves Large Chests, which is also mandatory reading to understand this one. It runs parallel to the main plot, branching off from the chapter titled Upheaval 2, so there will be spoilers for anyone who hasn't reached that point.

Macabre Mim
*Note: This story is on hiatus. I intend to pick it up again, but the mood of my life has shifted for the time being and I'm going to be working on a side project for a bit.* What would you give to live the life of your dreams? What kind of deal would you make? And when you were there, forced to stare your dreams in the eye and live them every day, how long would it be... before they broke you? Author's note: This is my first excursion outside the realm of villain fan fiction and I welcome feedback. The thing I've loved most about RRL so far is the potential for writing to be an interactive experience with excited readers. That said, also, the primary genre this is intended for is the blossoming realm of LitRPG. Namely, a slice of life tale in the manner of Grimgar or Re:Zero. So, likewise, I don't expect there will ever be a clear beginning-middle-and-end type of pattern to this story. It will likewise always be a bit more of a reactionary, exploratory novel into realms unknown - much like the 1800 travel-novel theme used by Jules Verne. Or, at least, that is my ambition.

Of Righteous Evil
To wield the magical Arts. The power to manipulate nature itself. Follow Silas on his journey as he learns what it means to be a Mage. With war brewing on the horizon, Silas' plan to become a hero clashes with the harsh reality of conflict. Torn between contradicting emotions, he will have to reconsider his perceptions of both good and evil. Does the end truly never justify the means? Note from author (13.09.20): Sentences have been shortened, less commata used. Paragraphs have been split up. Meant to be "realistic" fantasy, with no overpowered protagonist or evil sorcerer trying to destroy the world. The focus lies on the characters, their progressions and their inner conflicts, coupled with an intricate magic system. Constructive criticism is highly appreciated! HIATUS Updates: 12.12.20 Chapter 1 & 2 are written together. The backstory of the parents will be integrated into one of the later chapters. 20.12.20 Prologue has been rewritten, fight added. Will now continue writing the chapters until the first arch is finished. 19.01.21 Chapter 15 is written. Will hopefully be able to write more from now on, university has been kinda rough these days. 08.04.21 Chapter 16 & 17 has been written. Beginning will be rewritten (again) to start with chapter 3. Chapter 1 & 2 will be shown through reocurring dreams / nightmares. 10.08.21 Rewriting of the first arc is complete and has been proofread twice. Plot of rest of book one is 80% complete. Will publish chapters once first book is finished and proofread. 06.12.21 Second arc is finished (chapter 24/31-33). First draft will likely be finished around February, after which I will edit a few suggestions of my beta readers and publish it on RR. Release schedule: Once a week on Sunday, chapters are around 3000 words long. (HIATUS, see last chapter for more info) Cover art by Riverman09

The Novel's Extra's Extra
As a reader, Cristopher always looked for things that entertained him, didn't matter what the "critics" said, all that matters was his own opinion on the novel, so he started reading "The Novel's Extra", a webnovel that despicts an author who is transmigrated to his own novel. It was fun and all with its own good and bad points, really, one of his favorites novels at the end of the journey, and that's taking into account the little fact that he didn't have too many things he was able to enjoy, not in that empty shell that was called life for him... Why could someone be born like that? With a void inside, an endless void that slowly consumes oneself... But... for better or worse... everything changed one day, the same day he woke up to discover he had the same faith of the author whose novel he just finished reading, becoming an extra in a novel, becoming The novel's extra's extra... /Ok, now that's the description I thought of... first of all, for those of you who are reading this, if any, a few points I have to make clear: 1. I'm not an english native speaker, so if you find anything wrong in the text, please let me know, that would help me learn, and I would be thankful for that.2. I'm writting this out of pure "enjoyment", so while I'll try to be constant, I'll not make any promises.3. True reason why I'm writing this is because I'm going through a moderate to crippling depression right now (and no, is not because anything trully bad and horrendous happened to me, it seems to have something to do with my brain's malfuctioning, among other things), and doctors told me to try writing as I enjoy reading. So yeah, this is more like a self-help excercise, to keep myself distracted while trying to be safe from my self.4. I choose to make a fanfiction of "The Novel's Extra" as I don't trully know how to write, and because I really loved that webnovel, though there are some points I didn't particulary liked.5. If you see some (let's be clear, really much) self insertion on this series, well, that may be me trying to escape reality, to which I make an early warning and disclaimer, and also ask for forgiveness, as I said before, this is more of an excercise, so don't take it too serious.6. I'll be a slow writer, as I have to still check a few things from the novel, even when I've read it like 3 or 4 times already, and because I know shit about writing a novel or a series.7. If you get to enjoy this, then that's good, I would be glad about it, maybe even more motivated, but I don't really expect this to be any good. Thanks to you all who may, or may not, be reading this novel./
